@sherlock8898 No. No it did not. And no you don't need to explain to me anymore then I need to explain why I like to point out how bad this movie really is to people who make ridiculous statements like "The best movie EVER".
@Trekfreek You see I planed all this. I left my comment about this being my favorite movie cause I knew you would find it and start getting on my case. You know what...I was RIGHT! I was so right because here you are taking everything personally. I pegged you from the beginning, you didn't come on here to share your opinion to came on here to insult those who liked this movie.
@Trekfreek See..I know people..its a gift..I can tell when a person comes on here with a sincere attitude or actually has a legit opinion he wants to convey..then I can tell those who just want to spew anger and start something. Trolling...I have a radar for it. your actions proved me right..its pretty pathetic dude, you don't even realize how you come off..you assume that I'm the one with the problem because I don't accept your "opinion" ..so sad. Just raised so wrong.
hearing these dumbass, critisims about star trek is liking people say FUCK YOU to Gene Roddenberry and his vision. it pisses me the fuck off that u people dont realize that Gene would want something like to be made, this what he had in his head to whole time
@superhuman295 Original Star Trek Pilot had a Capt. Christopher Pike and the 2nd in command was a woman called #1, but NBC didn't want a woman as a second in command so they changed it, the woman who was 2nd in command on his original Pilot became Nurse chapel. A woman did become 2nd in command (on a space station insteads of star ship) in Star Trek Deep Space 9, and this also had a black man as Commanding Officer. A woman commanding officer for Star Trek Voyager.Sexual and racial equality.
The way the title put the words "Star Trek" in quotes is very appropriate. This movie had little to nothing to do with star trek. Just some asshole producer trying to make money off someone else's dream. Really pathetic.
@VitalSigns1 if thats wat you think then u mustve no seen this movie at all. if you didnt see true emotion and depe story telling, you didnt want to see it, if you were bored, you wanted to be bored.
Yo old school trek nerds here, we love the reboot! James T Kirk captain of the enterprise at like 25! haha so ridiculous! Some hot headed gambler type in charge of star-ship for no good reason. I can't wait to see whats next...
@themadman19143 Sorry but when someone says a movie "was perfect" I just can't let it go, especially when they say such a dumb thing about this Star Trek! The word "Perfect" means without flaws. So how is a movie that has a Kid doing imposable things and getting away with acting like a total ass hole perfect? Please keep to the confines of science and what is in the movie.
Gene Roddenberry believed the people of earth would someday put aside all their differences, work together, accept one another and humanity would shine.
All the posts below are just one slap in the face after another toward the late Mr. Roddenberry's beautiful vision.
@hossola77 No they are not! Gene also recognized the fact that people are going to argue, and disagree. The kind of utopia you’re describing is boring and lame. Roddenberry was also a realist, he recognized that people will still have their hang ups but we will be able to work them out realistically.
@hossola77 I don't really think that is the case here. It's just that star trek cause some, not all, trekkies or trekkers to become a bit to pretentious. Where as they have this attitude if u don't like star trek u don't know anything about life. At least that's what me and my friends saw with a lot of fans. The real problem is that this trekfreek guy needs to get off his high horse and let the people who enjoyed this new one to enjoy it instead of slamming them.
@sherlock8898 Boy I'm starting to feel like a Rush Limba of film. I tell it like it really is and all of a sudden film goers who like poorly made movies attack me behind my back. I'm always being put on the defensive. I constantly have to tell but hurt fans of this film to reread my comments and that I have not "slammed" anyone. Reread the second top ratted comment. For a guy who's handle is after Sherlock Holmes you shore don't seem to see and observe.
@Trekfreek You claim we like poor films. You have said that anyone who likes this movie is not a true star trek fan. What right do you have to make that claim? You said that this was a pointless movie made for people who have pointless lives, who are you to say that about people you don't even know. So yes the comments that you leave are what we do think you are saying. Learn that every one in the world has different opinions on everything.
@sherlock8898 The same right you have to complain about my claim; The right to free speech. When did I ever say "pointless movie made for people who have pointless lives"? I said it was a pointless movie and people who worship it have pointless lives. Miss quoting me is not nice. You see but you do not observe. The movie is a Star Trek movie in name only. Just like the Mission Impossible movies are Mission Impossible in name only. You may call a dog a cat but it's still a dog.
@Trekfreek If Gene Roddenberry made this series to show that we can live in peace and accept each-other, then that also means we accept each-others opinions on things as well. Meaning you have to accept that people like this movie and leave them alone. Better yet Why? Why do you have to bother people who like this movie?
@Actionguy1 I was not talking to you first off. Second every time someone says that this is a good movie he has to chime in and start an argument with someone. That is the reason I ask why. Why does have to start something with someone just cause they said they liked the movie. Why does he always have to chime in and argue with us? If he doesn't like this movie that is fine it is his opinion. But those who do like the movie are entitled to have that opinion as well.
@sherlock8898 First off: Doesn't matter if you were talking to me or not. This is a public forum and if you comment, you should expect to get a response.
Trekfreek NEVER starts an argument. He simply points out all the shortcomings of this ill conceived film. It's usually those who do like it who get offended and come back at him with the argument.
He has made a valid point. Just because you liked this shitfest, or because it made money, still does NOT make it a "good movie".
@Actionguy1 "This ill conceived film" could you be anymore dramatic. One of the worst things a person can do is think their smarter than others cause they didn't like a movie and spotted flaws. But while you are spotting flaws in a movie the rest of us are just enjoying the movie, seeing it with our friends, girlfriends, and families as well and just having a good time. You think you know what makes a good movie but you forget that you have a guilty pleasure movie.
@sherlock8898 I hate it when people are dramatic. When I say it was "ill conceived" I'm telling the way it is. If I wanted to dramatize it I would say this film was conceived by monkeys while riding on wails through rings of FIRE! I never said I was smarter than other people. I only said I know film where others do not. This does not make me smarter just more knowledgeable in film. You might known more about history then others; does that make you smarter than other people?
@sherlock8898 I do know what makes a good movie and I never said you can't enjoy Star Crap. The fact is you don't like people criticizing your film. Sorry but I don't need to deliberately spot flaws the films flaws are so BIG that the only way people could not notice them is if they are only watching the film for the action and the FX. I personally look for morality tales in films; that is why I like Godzilla films. Yes, they are bad movies but they are also morality tales.
@Trekfreek Okay this is where it ends. I don't like star trek at all, except for this movie. I found it to be a boring emotionless series. But that is just my opinion. It is not you bashing the movie that I have a problem with it is how you take to people and constantly treat those who like this film. Everyone in the world has a different movie that they say is the best movie of all time and that is fine.
@sherlock8898 And how do I "talk to people & constantly treat those who like this film"? I talked to them the same way I'm talking to you. So what is the problem? Am I to rough on them? Should I hold their hand & be like a mother, or should I talk to them like adults? I'm old school. Which means I tell it like it is & if it hurts your feelings that I 'm forward then it is you who needs to man up! Because I'm not going to back pedal my opinion just because it upsets you.
@Trekfreek Dude I give up with you. You can't take others opinions on this movie unless they agree with you. You try to get them to admit that star trek is a bad movie and when you do that you stop having an opinion and you start being a douche bag. Now for the last time. It is Christmas tomorrow and I would like to spend it not arguing with you at all. Merry Christmas.
@sherlock8898 Last time! A movie being good or bad is not the same as like and dislike! Good and bad when it comes to art is not opinion it is fact based on a scale set by world renowned experts of art. Fact Star Trek (XI) is a bad movie. Opinion I hate it!!! Understand I'm a student of film. It’s just a movie, and it being a bad movie that you like will not change your world any more than if it was a good movie that you hate. Merry Christmas :-)
@sherlock8898 Quote: "I don't like star trek at all, except for this movie. I found it to be a boring emotionless series".
This just proves to everyone one reading this that you are not a very mature person who never really watched any of the original series (or any of the others), but you will praise Abrams' "shitfest" as a "good movie".
Don't take it personal! No one is bashing you until you bash back!
Okay! You like a SUCK ASS movie that makes no sense!
@Actionguy1 You forgot to put in but that is just my opinion. So just because I don't like anything star trek before this movie came out I'm immature? You don't even know therefore that is just opinion. Now like I told your friend when you start saying things like admit you like a bad movie then you stop having an opinion and you star being a douche bag. Also like I told your friend tomorrow is Christmas and I would like to spend it not arguing with either of you. Merry Christmas.
I don't do Christmas. It's just another day on the calender. I find the tradition extremely over done, much like Abrams' shitfest called $t@r Trek (See, I can't even call it Star Trek).
I can watch the Lost in Space movie over and over, and it was not a good film. Simply a guilty pleasure.
I could barely sit through this movie once.
JJ has one, maybe two more of these films to go before Paramount/CBS tell him, "GET OUT"!
@Actionguy1 "I don't do Christmas" That's truly sad. Tradition is the very definition of "over done". If it was not "over done" it would not be a tradition. The new Star Trek was not over done but over blown! Everything in it had to be BIG and to hell with whether or not the story was any good. I hope you had a merry Christmas anyway.
@sherlock8898 I might have put Star Crap in the same category as Star Trek V or "Way to Eden" (bad Star Trek) if it had a morality tale. Also, to make the film worse it had blatant story inconsistencies and story plots ripped off of Star Wars, 90210, Wrath of Kahn, and (the new) Battlestar Galactica. Just face the fact that you like a BAD movie & stop playing the victim of a rape. I did not hurt you in any way shape or form so stop acting like a victim. Grow up! It's just a movie!
@Trekfreek Also you missed the point about what makes a good or bad movie. You and many other people give into a mindset about what makes a good or bad film but in the end it is just your opinion on that movie. For instance a friend of mine really enjoys M nights the happening, where as many other people hated it. However that doesn't mean that he doesn't know what good film is he just has a different taste in film.
@Trekfreek In a nutshell the films that we like are as subjective as the foods that we eat in the end no one is right or wrong. Now look tomorrow is Christmas and I would appreciate if I could not hear from you for the rest of today and tomorrow, or better yet at all. Merry Christmas.
@sherlock8898 Accepting people’s opinions goes both ways. You must accept that I hate the movie and leave me alone. But it also means we both have every right to state our opinion. Roddenberry's vision of the future still had people arguing. His vision was not one of acceptance but of tolerance. I bother people who like this movie for the same reason you can't stand people bothering you. I have a pet peeve; I can't stand people stating that a bad movie is "the best film ever!"
@Trekfreek Look I don't like arguing and I respect your opinion. But what I don't respect is that you have to always comment when someone says they like this movie and say things like your not a true star trek fan or this movie was made for people with pointless lives. You think you know what makes a good movie but you forget one very important thing: A guilty pleasure movie. A movie that is not rated high but for some reason you like it and everyone in the world has one including you
@sherlock8898 First off I never said “made for people with pointless lives" That was NOT me, as my YouTube friend pointed out to you. Second I have nothing against guilty pleaser films, what I have a problem with is people saying things like "Great film" JJ Abram’s is master" and "I'm now a Star Trek fan because of this film". Anyone who knows Star Trek knows it is about social and political issues not Jerk becoming a Captain because he defeats the dumbest villain in the universe.
my 7th favorite movie of all time!!! It was just...awesome!!! It was nicely done, dark, funny, excting and just cool to watch. I loved all the charachters and the movie was just awesome!!!
Ya'know, every time I see a comment section that disagrees with Mr. Plinkett I must restrain myself from quoting him, but allow me to paraphrase what he was trying to say if you haven't seen it:
"Star Trek is a fun and exciting film that lacks a complicated story due to the excessive character origins story. The large focus on the origin and development of the characters leads to an unrealistic and convenient plot."
I really like this movie, despite the fact that I am not a Star Trek fan.
@nilsen93 "I really like this movie, despite the fact that I am not a Star Trek fan." Don't you mean because you’re not a Sci-fi fan and have no idea what makes a good movie? This is the worst movie I have seen and I have seen almost every Godzilla movie made. I have seen Earnest Scared Stupid. I have seen Plan 9 from Outer Space. I have seen Best Defense. If I had not seen the other Trek films already, this movie would make me want to burn the entire franchise to the ground. It's THAT BAD!!!
@Trekfreek To me, the 'Next Generation' movies, ruined the franchise. You see since my comment on this video I decided to watch all of the start trek movies... And holy shit! Once again the golden rule of entertainment applies: "when someone hate something so much they usually hate the hype behind it" -Jeremy Jahns. I mean how can you say that this movie is "THAT BAD!"? From what I understand you just like to hate on things you generally don't like. And hey no disrespect!
@nilsen93. Sorry to disappoint you but, I hated the trailers for Sherlock Holms and I love the movie. I hate the trailer for Die Hard 2 and I love the movie. I don't judge a movie by its hype only by the movie its self. True, the Die Hard movies had some impossible things happen but the stories are solid as a rock with little or no plot holes. The New Trek has massive amounts of plot holes and no focus. What is the story about? Is it a parody, or a drama?
@Trekfreek It is a character-driven origins story that focuses on the arch of Kirk and Spock. Sure this movie has a lot of plot holes and doesn't really connect with the fans of the original series.. BUT! This movie is rich with emotions, drama, awesome soundtrack and most important of all; characters that have depth and inner conflicts which draws the audience in.
You said you love Die Hard 2? Then I really can't take you seriously.. Apologies.
@nilsen93 "Character-driven"? "rich with emotions, drama"? “The arch” of the real Kirk is long and complex, just like real life. The New Kirk is a two dimensional Jackass. Spock's character is out of character. What made their characters interesting? Was it Kirk's lack of likeability? Was it Spock's inability to keep his temper under control? If blowing your top every few seconds is being "rich with emotion & drama" then yes. How can anyone hate classic movies like Die Hard 2?
@Trekfreek It seems we can't get to an agreement here so I'm going to answer the last question: I DISLIKE Die Hard 2, I don't hate it. It seemed more of a parody than a sequel to the original Die Hard. And the acting was bad, even from Willis himself... Safe to say that I like the first one, 'New York' and Die Hard 4 much more then Die Hard 2. And when I was talking about hype, I was referring to movies that are either overrated, or gets a lot of positive response. Gooda day sir!
@nilsen93 The acting in Die Hard 2 was the same as the other three. The Stunts are just as much over the top as the other three. How is it like a parody? Was it the soldier slicing a young man’s throat, or was it the villain being one step ahead of the hero? I think you just did not like American soldiers betraying their country for a terrorist. But than again your not suppose to like it. You’re supposed to feel betrayed, especially if you’re a soldier. Star Trek (XI) IS overrated.
@Trekfreek I'm not American, and I have no sympathy for that country after all the bloodshed that is going on today, now all of that aside; Yes, Star Trek (XI) may have been overrated, but now it's underrated because 'hardcore', hipster, trekky fans like you are dismissing this film and accusing it of being worse then it really is. Be fair and don't hate the movie, its understandable that you dislike it because they remade something nostalgic to you. I stand by what I said btw; Die Hard 2 SUCKS!
@nilsen93 WE DID NOT START THE WAR YOU FUCK! AND NORWAY IS INVOLVED LIKE IT OR NOT! If it weren’t for America and Great Britain your ass would be grass! We are the GOOD GUYS! The radical Muslims are the BAD GUYS! GOT IT? If I were not Catholic I would say “GO TOO HELL!”, if I were not Catholic.
@Trekfreek Wait a second.... This started out as a discussion about Star Trek (XI) XD
Now look here you brain washed ignorant fool! When I say BLOODSHED I refer to all of the conflicts that America is currently taking part in. And just because America did not start 'the war' that did not forgive or justify the actions that the military took in for instance Baghdad. Now please stay on topic and continue this discussion about STAR TREK (XI)
@nilsen93 LOOK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU PISS ON AMERICA YOU GET PUNCHED! It's those "bloodshed" conflicts "in for instance Baghdad" is what is keeping your sorry ass form being nuked by terrorists! You think you can do a better job than get off your ass and run for Prime Minister of Norway! You want to talk Trek? Than talk about Trek but leave your left wing hate mongering against the greatest country in the world to yourself!
@Trekfreek Iraq and terrorism, O'RLY!? Greatest country in the world? Yes I wanted to talk about Trek, but then you started talking about other movies that had nothing to do with the "conversation" and I just made a quick note on one of those movies...
So America is the greatest country in the world? Yeah sure, because ever since WW2 things have been awesome right? No racism, ethnic oppression, bad economy, huge debt, meaningless and groundless war... Yes, America is all unicorns and rainbows!
@nilsen93 Learn your history! Racism started centuries before America. Segregation started before WW2 by left wing nut; It ended after WW2. The Great Depression ended before WW2. We had a thriving economy for the most part. The times it got bad were the times liberals were in charge. Every war we had was not groundless. Vietnam was intended to help end a revolution while preserving freedom. It failed because the conflict was poorly managed. You’ve got to learn to separate facts from opinions!
@nilsen93. And yes it is the greatest country in the world! Can you start out as a bum on the street and become a famous radio voice in Norway? How about Come to Norway without knowing the laws or the language and become Governor of a state there? Back when race hate was rampant all over the world (1966) could you become a Black movie star in Norway? The answer is obviously NO. But in America it happened. There is nowhere else on earth a person can thrive even when things are against him/her.
@nilsen93 Finally, I only brought up other movies as examples, if you could read English you would know this. I had no intention of defending America to you but obviously you don't know squat when it comes to history even recent history. May be you should go back to high school but this time in role in a private school; they have no agendas other than teaching true history from real history books.
@nilsen93 I've spent more time with you than I care to. Go and live in ignorance of the facts Kid if that is want. But remember piss on another person’s country and you might start a war. PS. I would like you to remember that Norway is a tinny country, smaller than New York State, and it was saved by the Allies (this includes the US) in WW2. If the rest of your county feels the way you do, we might not save your ass again!
@Trekfreek considering the fact that we do not invade other countries with no reason at all I doubt that will ever happen you arrogant, brain washed, snobby, selfs-entered douche! A fair amount of your country supports bigotry and racism, something we rarely find here in Norway. And for you to think that America deserves nothing but gratitude and appreciation because of WW2... Well then you are a sad excuse of a person. Good day sir, blocked
@nilsen93 No! You don't invade countries at all for any reason. You get invaded over and over and over and over and over. Then you cry to America and England to bail you out! You piss ant. Why don't you and your little pansy ass country GROW A PAIR!
@nilsen93 I hope when the Taliban invade your country you remember what you said to me and the hate you Spewed about America! Because you will be eating crow if you live! You ungrateful yuppie larva!!!
@Trekfreek I hated the trailer for the movie the Village but thought the movie was good, many who liked the trailer hated the movie. Story was thought provoking and not just a bunch of lame violence although it did have some violence I only went to it because my wife liked the trailer. I liked the trailer for Buckaroo Bonzi but hated the movie. Generally trailers action driven and you can't exactly put logical plot driven story effectively in a trailer.
@hydrolito What was so "thought provoking" about the story? (Story of STXI: Orphan grows up to be a small time crook, joins the military, pisses on authority, does only one decent act in his entire life, and same people he shitted on gives him their flagship.) Star Trek The motion picture is a different form of entertainment. What made the Godzilla movies bad was not the FX but the plots, stories and the science. But unlike the new movie, Godzilla movies really ARE “thought provoking”.
@Trekfreek Okay yeah they did have some lame science in Godzilla but some science isn't completely lame gene splicing or merging two species as in Godzilla vs Biolante, okay a giant lizard merged with a plant is far fetched but a Russian Scientist tried to cross breed humans and chimpanzees, they have cross bred lions and tigers, camels and lamas, cattle and buffallo, had transplants of parts from pigs and baboons into humans, implants to control mind might be possible, so some possible.
@Trekfreek Oliver Twists had the artful dodger an orphan turned small time crook, Other aspects sound like Hitler pisses on Authority tries to take over and fails and not sure what if any decent acts he did during his life later he comes back and takes over Germany, starts numerous wars and of course he brought it to ruin.
@hydrolito Finaly, Why must i repeat myself over and over to people like you? Why can't you read what I wrote? I already said that Liking or disliking a movie does not make that movie good or bad. What makes a movie good or bad is whether or not it holds up to the requirements of good movie making. One of the most popular films of all time is required viewing in film class as an example of what not to do when making a movie. This movie has bad dialog, bad acting, bad editing…
Bad story, and plot holes. It's called “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and it is loved as a sci-fi classic. Some people love it because it is bad others love it for its self. It is the movie that inspired “Raspberry Awards”. “Star trek (XI)” is just like “Plan 9 From Outer Space”, a bad movie that is loved by lots of people.
@Trekfreek Godzilla movies except for the later ones had horrible special effects were still more entertaining than "Star Trek the motion picture" which had expensive and impressive special effects but was boring as crap, even the worst Godzilla movie was more entertaining than that. Haven't seen the 2009 Star Trek so will wait until I see it to evaluate it.
@Trekfreek No that move Bennifer made Giggli is 110% times MUCH Worse! This was and is the only Star Trek movie made for non Trekers that they can relate to and maybe thats why you don't like it because its too Actiony and not enough Sci-Fi? I am a Treky and I personaly liked it. My only complant was it took half the movie to get to Scotty. Other then that I liked it. I still think thou moving foward is a better idea and they should try and do that rather then move backwards.
@SirRembrant I never seen "Giggli" so i can't comment about that film. My review of Star Crap has little to do with it being a "Star Trek movie made for non Trekkers" It has everything to do with the movie it's self! The fact people like you keep brining "a Star Trek movie made for non Trekkers" as an excuse for liking it tells me that you can't stand anyone pointing out every LARGE thing wrong about the movie. You can't accept the fact that you love a bad movie.
@Trekfreek Just because someone likes a movie that not everyone can agree upon does not make it bad. Not everyone one loves Star Trek does that mean its a bad product just because they Dont like it? No. Twlight Fans love their movies and books. I don't. It does not mean its a bad product right? (Even thou I think Twlight is). I liked this film because of what it is. Remember the Time Line changed in the movie, which means this could be any number of possible realities.

@loner1878 Sar Ttek (XI aka 09) in 400 characters or less...Bad guy comes from the future seeking revenge on events that have not happened. Hoodlum Kirk gets on board the enterprise. Vulcans say: “We have no emotions...You Humans are STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!" Punk ass Kirk gets command by fighting with superior officers and forcing them to obey him. Kirk's ill conceived plan to defeat the bad guy miraculously works and everyone forgets his uncouth behavior and gives him command of their flag ship
As a very very involved Trekker i was their the push back opening date for this movie already hating the movie knowing it would suck. And i saw it and it didnt suprise me.
Another movie with a lot of mindless, pointless, silly action and characters that suck and a stupid story. I lost all remaining faith in the critics after seeing this.
I've never understood how people can't enjoy both Star Trek and Star Wars. I love both! I was born in 1975 and watched the original Star Trek with my dad in syndication. We loved it. Heck, even as a kid I'd watch the 1979 Star Trek film, although it was a bit heady for a 4 year old. Then came Star Wars, which I went crazy over, too. The point is, even as a kid I learned to appreciate both. Bickering over these frachises seems pointless and contradictory to Rodenberry's worldview of peace.
@Trekfreek I just have to know - why do you ultimately care what others think? It won't change your thoughts so why attack the views of those who enjoy the new film? If others enjoy it, how does that affect you? I mean, you come on to a page about the new film just to attack those who like it? People like different things - it's always been and always will be the case. You can still watch the originals, so why go anonymously attacking people's opinions online? Again, not very Rodenberry.
@PimpDragon108 I don't care what others think as long as they allow opposing points of view; which you and your buddies don't. Re-read my posts I don't attack, I criticize and heckle but never attack. The new movie is not even close to what Roddenberry wanted. Also you don't care about Roddenberry's work or you would not be angry at a logical opposition.
I grew up with Star Trek and am a long time original series fan. I was skeptical when this came out, but having seen it now, oh, about a thousand times, I can only say how awesome it is. The actors and story line, even with the paradoxes, are right on. The only downfall I see to this movie are those who criticize it, especially those who are too young to appreciate the original series.
@windsongsidhe You sir are not a fan. A true fan would hate this film. The Characters are not the same as the show; they even got the ages wrong. The science was unbelievable. The Story had no moral or taboo subject to think on after the film was over. The scrip was nothing but bad dialog. The acting was poor. Big questions if Nero changed history then what the hell were Kirk's parents doing on a star ship when they are colonists and where the hell is his brother Sam? It's a bad Trek Film!
@Trekfreek First, I am not a sir. I am a ma'am. And I am a fan, a big fan. You fail to grasp the significance of the change of paradox in going back in time. The characaters don't change - the situations do. I am old enough to remember the original pilot with Capt. Pike. A true fan understands the complexity and nuances of this film.
@windsongsidhe You fail to realize that you can't change something you are not involved in. This includes the magical change of the sizes & looks of the ships, the magical changes in Scotty's McCoy's Uhura's, & Spock's life, the instant aging of Chekov & Pike by 10 years. A true fan loves the science of Star Trek. They don't ignore them just because the actors are "cute". Star Trek is also about issues that are relevant to the times. It's not in one eye out the other impossible plots GALORE!
@Trekfreek You fail to realize that the original series faced a great many limitations of technology and that in any remake they will change details like ages. I'm sure you can tell that I never liked the original series however my history teacher was is and always will be a trecky. He can tell you everything about the series including the continuity errors and list the social issues that would have kept the show off air had they been addressed more directly. He also loves the new movie.
@olstar18 No you fail to realize that Star Trek the new film is not a intended to be a remake. The limitations in budget did not stop the writers from making fantastic stories that challenged the viewers mind. In fact many of the writers feel that some of their best work happened because they had to limit their imagination to the ship. I bet your history teacher only likes it because of its name sake. I lived the history of Trek. I can tell you the impact it had on society. STXI is not TREK.
@Trekfreek No he lived the trek as well. And when I want a storyline that challenges my mind tos is not where I go. Next gen is much better in that respect especially since it isn't as bad as tos was about making card board villains. Best example I can think of at the moment is the episode with the stealthed planet.
@olstar18 Did your teacher help get the first NASA space shuttle named Enterprise, petition to bring back Star Trek in 1976, petition to bring Spock back? Living during the time & actually participating are two entirely different things. Shatner did sound natural. The only reason people think they hear him talk Like. Each. Word. Is. It’s. Own. Sentence. Is because of Jim Carry. The only person who did a good Shatner was John Belushi. He talked normal until he was under stress, just like Kirk.
@Trekfreek How would I know if he took part in events before my birth I wouldn't have even known to ask about it. And by the way none of that accounts for your hide bound view of what trek 'should' be.
@olstar18 “none of that accounts for your hide bound view of what trek 'should' be." Wrong again. Star Trek was a BIG part of society back in those days. It inspired people to become Doctors, Engineers, and astronauts. It inspired technology that you take for granted and its message of unity through cooperation helped people to work together in the industry business. One time you could not go into any job without seeing the poster "Everything I learned about life came from Star Trek.
@Trekfreek And none of that has anything to do with your hide bound view of what trek should be. What makes you think that there is no one going through college right now or will be soon who was inspired by what they saw in the remake. Oh yeah because your hidebound view of it will not allow you to accept any of the movies merits. All you can do is criticize everything that doesn't fit the version from 40 years prior.
@olstar18 It's not my "hide bound view of what trek 'should' be." It's Gen Roddenbarry's. "I notice you ignored everything I said after the word translation" then you can't read. Also you told me "to pick a scene." That scene with the Vulcan masters just proves my point. He showed too much anger and so did they. For a race that is not suppose to have emotion they show a lot of it.
@Trekfreek Since you brought up the creator of star trek then how about I mention that the vulcan did not represent the lack of emotion and if you actually paid any attention at all you would realize this. They kept their emotions under control they did not get rid of them. Strange how I seem to know more about this aspect of the series than a self proclaimed treckie.
@olstar18. Vulcans seem to lack emotion by humans’ perspectives. Controlling your emotions like a Vulcan means never showing them. You forget the episode "Sarek" from TNG. Kid you are self projecting again. It only "seems like you know more" because you are not willing to listen. And because you are un willing to listen this lesson is over. Go to bed and have pleasant dreams.
@Trekfreek Yet more proof that there is no point in arguing with nostalgia as age (and sometimes a healthy dose of senility) makes everything seem better than it ever was.
@olstar18 It's not nostalgia, the movie is just plain bad. The villain is a moron, The hero a criminal, the plot is so bad a 4 year old could have wrote it, the script is riddled with bad dialog & sex it could have been written by a teenager, the camera angles & movement is so random it could have been filmed by a monkey on drugs, the lens-flares are out of controlee, & the performance was so bad I could not tell if this was a parody like BATMAN the series or intended to be taken seriously.
@Trekfreek I know, the lens flares weren't even incidental, they were purposefully added in. When are action movie directors going to realize that cluttering up the screen with crap like this is just distracting. That said, I don't think the movie is a total lemon if you watch it expecting a cliche'd action driven movie and not a true science fiction movie. Still not a memorable film, definitely not worth getting on DVD.
@Trekfreek And how many screenplays have you directed that were successful? Each to his own opinion. Sorry you didn't enjoy what is a very good movie.
@meileen1942 How many movies did you direct? I directed 5 screen plays that I also wrote. If I had the budget and permission from Paramount they would have been released on VHS back in 1993 and again in 2011. I have episode one posted on my channel. The movie is not a good movie and I'm sorry you can't admit that you love a bad movie. Here is a list of bad movies that I like...Godzilla 1953-2007, The Nude Bomb, Life Force, and The Austin Powers movies. It's not taboo to like bad movies.
@Trekfreek The Japanese version of Godzilla came out in 1954 and english version in 1956 so how did you see a 1953 Godzilla? One of the many errors on MASH tv show no Godzilla movies and no Avengers Comic books by Marvel during Korean War.
@olstar18 or rather, something can be as good as remembered because it really was just that good. Just because it is older does NOT automatically make the new thing better. Things do not always change for the better. That has nothing to do with nostaligia. That is a fact.
So you can take your snooty, condescending "I know better than you because I am above your nostalgia" attitude and shove it up your ass. Sideways.
@ReverendSyn No one ever said that its bad because of its age other than people trying to claim thats what I am saying. I loved wrath of kahn and I loved next gen but I can't satand the original series. I do like the way they put different political and social problems into the episodes but the pacing the acting the fact that kirk is way to much of a larry stu for my tastes (kahn being a very notable exception) just plain turn me off to the show. Give me next gen or the new movie instead.
@Trekfreek They also mention emotion on an episode of Star Trek when Spocks fights Kirk the woman Vulcan mentions firing burning in him which is a reference to emotion, why would Spock have a fire (emotion burning in him if Vulcan's had no emotion?) That whole episode with what we thought were peace loving people having two guys fight to the death over a woman seemed so Barbaric. However it's written so Vulcan's have emotions they just try to control it else would go mad when they mind meld.
@hydrolito The episode you are referring to is called "Amok Time". It is hardly a good comparison to the new Spock. The word "Burn" was used by Spock and The Vulcan woman. It referred to Spock's blood actually burning. (See Star Trek III, The episodes Amok Time, Journey to Babel, and This Side of Paradise. This new Spock never keeps his emotions in check. This would not bother me if they established that he chose human ways instead of Vulcan, but the film makes it clear he chose Vulcan.
@Trekfreek The original tv version Spock didn't always keep his emotions in check either as he pretended he did but didn't and that was clear. He made snide remarks at Yeoman Rann when she was attacked by the duplicate Kirk although I interpret all transported Kirk's as duplicates the original was disintegrated. He also got angry at Kirk calling him names when affected by a flower to ward of the effects of the flower, He got angry at McCoy when they were back time in an ice age, etc.
@hydrolito It does not take emotion to enjoy tormenting someone, this was established in Journey to Babble (Spock was ridiculed as a boy). As for the others, noticed that even you pointed out that he had lost all of his ability to control his emotions. Humans and chimps have similar DNA, but even then the experiments failed. Re read your history. Hitler took years to gain his position in the Nazi party. He did not make waves or piss on authority when he was an adult.
@olstar18 "What makes you think that there is no one going through college right now or will be soon who was inspired by what they saw in the remake" Simple, it looked like Star Wars. Have you ever heard someone say "I'm in school because of Luke Skywalker? Of course not, they did nothing to aid to society. I'm criticizing the movie it's self. Even as a standalone film it's terrible. But you are so blinded by your love of junk movies, or is it lens-flares?, that you don't want to face the truth.
@Trekfreek That argument failed before it even started. Guy that went to the same church as I did when I was a kid went to college for some kinda engineering degree because of star wars. Said it was the gadgets they showed in the movies. And no you are not criticizing the movie you are criticizing it for not being the same as the series that you are so nostalgic for.
@olstar18 Oh. A Guy you knew when to collage because he wanted to be an engineer just like R2 D2. BARBRA STRISAND! He might have said "Star _ _" and you filed in the blank with "Wars". The gadgets they showed in Star Wars are impossible to make real, not improbable but impossible. Lasers can't stop at 3 feet to make a blade & Engines don't need encouragement to work ("Hyper drive Motivator" Common Hyper Drive you can do it!). Star Trek has much more gadgets and they are all based on science.
@Trekfreek You're accusing them of bad acting for what, not pausing after every word like shatner. And perhaps the bad writing could be because they didn't have kirk do everything, perfectly, and instead had the entire crew bring something that would have had them fail otherwise.
@olstar18 No I accuse them of bad acting because they jumped out of Character to make a scene work, looked bored when explosions happened and over acted on dramatic parts. PS Shatner never paused on every word, it was every syllable and he only did it once in a great while, to drive, his point, home. Plus the script had commas there.
@Trekfreek Not talkin about when he added emphasis to each syllable. I'm talking about the way that he paced the words. His acting was so much better in the movies and outside of star trek. Enough about tos what scenes in particular are you talking about in the new version.
@olstar18 Good actors, especially stage actors, always pace their words. Some examples are Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart, Robert Deniro, Michael Cane, and Ben Kingsley all pace their words just like Shatner does. Also Shatners pacing never changed, but his voice changed a bit. As for what scenes with in the new one, just pick one and I will help your untrained eye to see the poor performance.
@Trekfreek Good actors always pace their words in such a way that it sounds natural. Those examples you gave fit this as does shatners pacing outside of tos. And no you pick out the scene.
@olstar18."you pick out the scene." O.K. How about everyone’s favorite scene, when Spock is snoging Uhura. First off his Planet was just destroyed, he is vulnerable yet a Vulcan first. He is not resisting he is just standing there looking like he was a bad little kid on his way to the Principal’s office, not like someone trying to hide his pain. Uhura's is groping him, not like a concerned lover, but as a horny slut trying to rape him at the peak of his vulnerability. That's BAD ACTING!
@Trekfreek Translation: because their acting is based upon a different generations view of the world it must be bad acting and not because they are acting based upon the values of a different generation.
I mean seriously. This is a vulcan and he has spent his entire life controlling emotion. He is utterly devastated but because of that training that is all the emotion he shows. And where did you get that bad little kid garbage.
@olstar18 WRONG Again! When did Spock chose to embrace emotion in the movie? After his planet got destroyed? NO, After Sarek told him Vulcans have emotions? No. At the end of the movie with old Spock? Yes. I have seen real people try to hide their grief in real life, they don't sulk or pout, their pain only shows in their eyes and they never let anyone touch them. Those are humans; Vulcans are supposed to be more disciplined. I notice you did not disagree about Uhura.
@Trekfreek I notice you ignored everything I said after the word translation. And if you had paid attention that was not the first time his emotions showed. You happen to notice the way he said 'live long and prosper' when he refused his acceptance at the beginning.
Personally I love the film! Its the first Star Trek film that felt more like an action film and less like a Sci-Fi film. I know some of you hard core Trekkies are not fans of this film but what would you have them do? Keep making films with old actors until they are all dead? No a rebot was the smart thing to do. I loved all the casting choices and making it a new universe that splits from the original makes total sense. This is a movie you can go see and not be a Trek fan and still have fun
@SirRembrant I like scifi films over actions films. They should continue on from where Star Trek the original, Next generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager left off. Star Trek tos lasted 3 seasons, The Next Generation lasted 7 seasons, Deep Space 9 lasted 7seasons, Voyager lasted 7 seasons, they rebooted to Star Trek Enterprise and it only lasted 2 seasons. The Next Generation got better rating than the original so moving forward is a logical choice not moving backwards.
Where exactly are these idiots who comment on this coming from!!! I am a Trek fan from the 60s. If I can't adapt - why can't you. My son who has always hated Trek, has loved this and can't wait for the next one. Be open minded folks - otherwise you are old before your time.
About the movie: Fans don't like it because it's not a star trek movie. They took a terrible movie script, added flashy CG, and simply added star trek wrappings to add to selling value. Change th title and character names and you don't lose much about the movie because it doesn't follow the original concept at all. Trekies hate this movie because it's not a star trek movie, and people new to the franchise don't know the difference.
What if somebody went and did an origin story with Star Wars where the characters were there (played by different people), and you added bad CG, a terrible story, and plot points that specifically defy the source material? Well we have that, it's the prequel trilogy and everyone agrees it's shit. It sucks for all the same reasons that Star Trek '09 and Indy 4 sucked. Be consistant people!
Star Trek 09 is my least favorite Trek movie. It looks like a video game, and I need to wear sunglasses whenever I watch it.
On the other hand, there were some good parts: Spock Prime.
The storyline, although a bit strange and with parts that are utterly ridiculous, was rather interesting, and the recasting wasn't absolutely horrible.
Still, it is more of a Star Wars movie than a Star Trek movie. JJ Abams even said that he was a bigger fan of Star Wars than Star Trek. So why'd he make ST?
This movie has revived Star Trek. Be grateful you dim wits. The last few Star Trek movies have been shit, don't even get me started on Nemesis. That was probably one of the worst movies of all time.
@Tekkenman101 The only dim wits I see are people like you. You can't support your claim that this new movie is a good one so you insult people. Get a life.
@Trekfreek I don't need to formulate a rebuttal with a claim of my own for comments that are illogical and need i say "retarded". Whiners will be whiners, I only see the necessity to reply with the same incoherent logic that those type of posters comment with. Why bother myself with attempting to debate legitimately with morons? Anyways all I need to do is redirect you to yahoo. c om and ask that you look at the USER (a.k.a people) reviews for PAST Star Trek films. Need I say less?
@mjmanning123 No it didn't here's why; i've never been that much into Star Trek, I had watched maybe 1 or 2 episodes but never followed it, then my friends pulled me in to see this, I loved it. And the first thing I did when I came home was order all the Star Trek boxsets, and now I consider myself a Star Trek fan.
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM If they were really your friends, they would have shown you the Original series and not this bland vanilla stale cheese puff of a movie. Brace yourself, real Trek actually requires neurons.
@mjmanning123 I'm a game developer, so yeah, I think my neurons are covered. I liked the movie, maybe because I wasn't that familiar with Star Trek at the time, but still it was a good action movie combined with good acting, might not have been true to the series but I don't really care since it was labeled as a reboot, if it wasn't for this movie I would probably never have watched the TV Shows. So i'm pretty glad I went out and watched it.
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM. Working on games requires technical knowhow and knowledge of what makes a fun action story. It does not give you insight to what makes a good movie. The acting in this was as exaggerated as the game digital actors and their vocal tones as dull as a video game actor. A good movie is consistent with its self, no plot holes, and longer dialog then one liners. The new Trek film fails on all points. It looks like a video game.
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM. You’re no fan. A fan is someone who is a fanatic. Fanatics are sticklers to what is consistent to what they love & will never like major changes. A true fan hates this new movie. A true fan wants to see Lieutenant Kirk as a "Pare of legs with books", Cadet Kirk get picked on by Finagan, & Cadet Kirk impressing his teachers with his imaginative way of cheating that they give him a commendation for original thinking. This Kirk just used a lame virus & his girlfriend to cheat.
You know what? I've loved Star Trek since I was 9. I'm 20 now. This movie was THE BEST THING to happen to the franchise. Why? Because it frees it up for new, 'contemporary' fans who ridiculed the series because of the NECKBEARDS who hate the new movie simply because it's different.
It's what Gene Roddenberry wanted. Fuck Rick Berman. This movie is what Star Trek was about.
The movie was ok however I did not like the story line . I have 2 problems with the movie. 1. The Planet Valcan blowing up 2. Spock being in love with Lieutenant Nyota Uhura what is that all about? Nurse Christine Chapel would have been and a better Candidate
Why didn't they add The Valcan Lieutenant Saavik she would also be a good Candidate. Spock had a sexual relationship with her. I don't understand why that was not thought of. Kirk get beaten up all the time The movie is all wrong
Basically this movie is a Star Trek movie for people who don't like Star Trek. And thats my biggest problem with it. Well that and the story making no sense and being filled to the brim with stupid movie cliches.
one of the biggest regrets of my life,I saw that crappy and epil fail movie called new moon in cinemas and i didnt see this wonderful film (star trek)in cineama...............one of my biggest regrets
I unfortunately am a moron, Star trek and complicated stuff get me head a hurting but I loved this film, Nice and simple, to join Star Fleet, get on the shuttle, no exams or such stuff and to be captain of the ship you just have to sit on the captains chair first, I love musical chairs. I love that it crapped over previous Star Trek as I don't remember anything past 3 minutes. YAH new Star Trek for Morons!!
This has become my number 1 favorite movie now.

Trolling...I have a radar for it. your actions proved me right..its pretty pathetic dude, you don't even realize how you come off..you assume that I'm the one with the problem because I don't accept your "opinion" ..so sad. Just raised so wrong.

Manny...After seeing this review of a "less than stellar film", I have come to a conclusion about you.
You should not be a movie critic.
You should be someone who rates other's bowel movements!

Wow, you're a jerk as this review was clearly meant for people BEFORE seeing the movie.

hearing these dumbass, critisims about star trek is liking people say FUCK YOU to Gene Roddenberry and his vision. it pisses me the fuck off that u people dont realize that Gene would want something like to be made, this what he had in his head to whole time
superhuman295 2 months ago

Roddenberry's beautiful vision.
hossola77 6 months ago
@hossola77 No they are not! Gene also recognized the fact that people are going to argue, and disagree. The kind of utopia you’re describing is boring and lame. Roddenberry was also a realist, he recognized that people will still have their hang ups but we will be able to work them out realistically.
Trekfreek 5 months ago 2
@hossola77 I don't really think that is the case here. It's just that star trek cause some, not all, trekkies or trekkers to become a bit to pretentious. Where as they have this attitude if u don't like star trek u don't know anything about life. At least that's what me and my friends saw with a lot of fans. The real problem is that this trekfreek guy needs to get off his high horse and let the people who enjoyed this new one to enjoy it instead of slamming them.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 Boy I'm starting to feel like a Rush Limba of film. I tell it like it really is and all of a sudden film goers who like poorly made movies attack me behind my back. I'm always being put on the defensive. I constantly have to tell but hurt fans of this film to reread my comments and that I have not "slammed" anyone. Reread the second top ratted comment. For a guy who's handle is after Sherlock Holmes you shore don't seem to see and observe.
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek You claim we like poor films. You have said that anyone who likes this movie is not a true star trek fan. What right do you have to make that claim? You said that this was a pointless movie made for people who have pointless lives, who are you to say that about people you don't even know. So yes the comments that you leave are what we do think you are saying. Learn that every one in the world has different opinions on everything.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 The same right you have to complain about my claim; The right to free speech. When did I ever say "pointless movie made for people who have pointless lives"? I said it was a pointless movie and people who worship it have pointless lives. Miss quoting me is not nice. You see but you do not observe. The movie is a Star Trek movie in name only. Just like the Mission Impossible movies are Mission Impossible in name only. You may call a dog a cat but it's still a dog.
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek If Gene Roddenberry made this series to show that we can live in peace and accept each-other, then that also means we accept each-others opinions on things as well. Meaning you have to accept that people like this movie and leave them alone. Better yet Why? Why do you have to bother people who like this movie?
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 My Youtube friend Trekfreek is NOT bothering you. He is simply stating the FACTS, and that's what bothers you.
Conclusion: Never enter a battle of wits half armed.
Actionguy1 1 month ago
@Actionguy1 I was not talking to you first off. Second every time someone says that this is a good movie he has to chime in and start an argument with someone. That is the reason I ask why. Why does have to start something with someone just cause they said they liked the movie. Why does he always have to chime in and argue with us? If he doesn't like this movie that is fine it is his opinion. But those who do like the movie are entitled to have that opinion as well.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 First off: Doesn't matter if you were talking to me or not. This is a public forum and if you comment, you should expect to get a response.
Trekfreek NEVER starts an argument. He simply points out all the shortcomings of this ill conceived film. It's usually those who do like it who get offended and come back at him with the argument.
He has made a valid point. Just because you liked this shitfest, or because it made money, still does NOT make it a "good movie".
Actionguy1 1 month ago
@Actionguy1 "This ill conceived film" could you be anymore dramatic. One of the worst things a person can do is think their smarter than others cause they didn't like a movie and spotted flaws. But while you are spotting flaws in a movie the rest of us are just enjoying the movie, seeing it with our friends, girlfriends, and families as well and just having a good time. You think you know what makes a good movie but you forget that you have a guilty pleasure movie.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 I hate it when people are dramatic. When I say it was "ill conceived" I'm telling the way it is. If I wanted to dramatize it I would say this film was conceived by monkeys while riding on wails through rings of FIRE! I never said I was smarter than other people. I only said I know film where others do not. This does not make me smarter just more knowledgeable in film. You might known more about history then others; does that make you smarter than other people?
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 I do know what makes a good movie and I never said you can't enjoy Star Crap. The fact is you don't like people criticizing your film. Sorry but I don't need to deliberately spot flaws the films flaws are so BIG that the only way people could not notice them is if they are only watching the film for the action and the FX. I personally look for morality tales in films; that is why I like Godzilla films. Yes, they are bad movies but they are also morality tales.
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek Okay this is where it ends. I don't like star trek at all, except for this movie. I found it to be a boring emotionless series. But that is just my opinion. It is not you bashing the movie that I have a problem with it is how you take to people and constantly treat those who like this film. Everyone in the world has a different movie that they say is the best movie of all time and that is fine.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 And how do I "talk to people & constantly treat those who like this film"? I talked to them the same way I'm talking to you. So what is the problem? Am I to rough on them? Should I hold their hand & be like a mother, or should I talk to them like adults? I'm old school. Which means I tell it like it is & if it hurts your feelings that I 'm forward then it is you who needs to man up! Because I'm not going to back pedal my opinion just because it upsets you.
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek Dude I give up with you. You can't take others opinions on this movie unless they agree with you. You try to get them to admit that star trek is a bad movie and when you do that you stop having an opinion and you start being a douche bag. Now for the last time. It is Christmas tomorrow and I would like to spend it not arguing with you at all. Merry Christmas.
sherlock8898 1 month ago

Get over it and move on boy!
Actionguy1 1 month ago
@Actionguy1 You forgot to put in but that is just my opinion. So just because I don't like anything star trek before this movie came out I'm immature? You don't even know therefore that is just opinion. Now like I told your friend when you start saying things like admit you like a bad movie then you stop having an opinion and you star being a douche bag. Also like I told your friend tomorrow is Christmas and I would like to spend it not arguing with either of you. Merry Christmas.

@sherlock8898 Thank you, but no thank you.
You'll see!
Actionguy1 1 month ago
@Actionguy1 "I don't do Christmas" That's truly sad. Tradition is the very definition of "over done". If it was not "over done" it would not be a tradition. The new Star Trek was not over done but over blown! Everything in it had to be BIG and to hell with whether or not the story was any good. I hope you had a merry Christmas anyway.
Trekfreek 2 weeks ago
@sherlock8898 I might have put Star Crap in the same category as Star Trek V or "Way to Eden" (bad Star Trek) if it had a morality tale. Also, to make the film worse it had blatant story inconsistencies and story plots ripped off of Star Wars, 90210, Wrath of Kahn, and (the new) Battlestar Galactica. Just face the fact that you like a BAD movie & stop playing the victim of a rape. I did not hurt you in any way shape or form so stop acting like a victim. Grow up! It's just a movie!
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek Also you missed the point about what makes a good or bad movie. You and many other people give into a mindset about what makes a good or bad film but in the end it is just your opinion on that movie. For instance a friend of mine really enjoys M nights the happening, where as many other people hated it. However that doesn't mean that he doesn't know what good film is he just has a different taste in film.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@Trekfreek In a nutshell the films that we like are as subjective as the foods that we eat in the end no one is right or wrong. Now look tomorrow is Christmas and I would appreciate if I could not hear from you for the rest of today and tomorrow, or better yet at all. Merry Christmas.
sherlock8898 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 Accepting people’s opinions goes both ways. You must accept that I hate the movie and leave me alone. But it also means we both have every right to state our opinion. Roddenberry's vision of the future still had people arguing. His vision was not one of acceptance but of tolerance. I bother people who like this movie for the same reason you can't stand people bothering you. I have a pet peeve; I can't stand people stating that a bad movie is "the best film ever!"
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@sherlock8898 PS...But I'm allways respectful, atleast untill they start insulting me.
Trekfreek 1 month ago
@Trekfreek Look I don't like arguing and I respect your opinion. But what I don't respect is that you have to always comment when someone says they like this movie and say things like your not a true star trek fan or this movie was made for people with pointless lives. You think you know what makes a good movie but you forget one very important thing: A guilty pleasure movie. A movie that is not rated high but for some reason you like it and everyone in the world has one including you
sherlock8898 1 month ago

MrTeamimpact 6 months ago
Ya'know, every time I see a comment section that disagrees with Mr. Plinkett I must restrain myself from quoting him, but allow me to paraphrase what he was trying to say if you haven't seen it:
"Star Trek is a fun and exciting film that lacks a complicated story due to the excessive character origins story. The large focus on the origin and development of the characters leads to an unrealistic and convenient plot."
I really like this movie, despite the fact that I am not a Star Trek fan.
nilsen93 7 months ago
@nilsen93 "I really like this movie, despite the fact that I am not a Star Trek fan." Don't you mean because you’re not a Sci-fi fan and have no idea what makes a good movie? This is the worst movie I have seen and I have seen almost every Godzilla movie made. I have seen Earnest Scared Stupid. I have seen Plan 9 from Outer Space. I have seen Best Defense. If I had not seen the other Trek films already, this movie would make me want to burn the entire franchise to the ground. It's THAT BAD!!!
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@Trekfreek To me, the 'Next Generation' movies, ruined the franchise. You see since my comment on this video I decided to watch all of the start trek movies... And holy shit! Once again the golden rule of entertainment applies: "when someone hate something so much they usually hate the hype behind it" -Jeremy Jahns. I mean how can you say that this movie is "THAT BAD!"? From what I understand you just like to hate on things you generally don't like. And hey no disrespect!
nilsen93 6 months ago
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@Trekfreek It is a character-driven origins story that focuses on the arch of Kirk and Spock. Sure this movie has a lot of plot holes and doesn't really connect with the fans of the original series.. BUT! This movie is rich with emotions, drama, awesome soundtrack and most important of all; characters that have depth and inner conflicts which draws the audience in.
You said you love Die Hard 2? Then I really can't take you seriously.. Apologies.
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 "Character-driven"? "rich with emotions, drama"? “The arch” of the real Kirk is long and complex, just like real life. The New Kirk is a two dimensional Jackass. Spock's character is out of character. What made their characters interesting? Was it Kirk's lack of likeability? Was it Spock's inability to keep his temper under control? If blowing your top every few seconds is being "rich with emotion & drama" then yes. How can anyone hate classic movies like Die Hard 2?
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@Trekfreek It seems we can't get to an agreement here so I'm going to answer the last question: I DISLIKE Die Hard 2, I don't hate it. It seemed more of a parody than a sequel to the original Die Hard. And the acting was bad, even from Willis himself... Safe to say that I like the first one, 'New York' and Die Hard 4 much more then Die Hard 2. And when I was talking about hype, I was referring to movies that are either overrated, or gets a lot of positive response. Gooda day sir!
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 The acting in Die Hard 2 was the same as the other three. The Stunts are just as much over the top as the other three. How is it like a parody? Was it the soldier slicing a young man’s throat, or was it the villain being one step ahead of the hero? I think you just did not like American soldiers betraying their country for a terrorist. But than again your not suppose to like it. You’re supposed to feel betrayed, especially if you’re a soldier. Star Trek (XI) IS overrated.
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@Trekfreek I'm not American, and I have no sympathy for that country after all the bloodshed that is going on today, now all of that aside; Yes, Star Trek (XI) may have been overrated, but now it's underrated because 'hardcore', hipster, trekky fans like you are dismissing this film and accusing it of being worse then it really is. Be fair and don't hate the movie, its understandable that you dislike it because they remade something nostalgic to you. I stand by what I said btw; Die Hard 2 SUCKS!
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 WE DID NOT START THE WAR YOU FUCK! AND NORWAY IS INVOLVED LIKE IT OR NOT! If it weren’t for America and Great Britain your ass would be grass! We are the GOOD GUYS! The radical Muslims are the BAD GUYS! GOT IT? If I were not Catholic I would say “GO TOO HELL!”, if I were not Catholic.
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@Trekfreek Wait a second.... This started out as a discussion about Star Trek (XI) XD
Now look here you brain washed ignorant fool! When I say BLOODSHED I refer to all of the conflicts that America is currently taking part in. And just because America did not start 'the war' that did not forgive or justify the actions that the military took in for instance Baghdad. Now please stay on topic and continue this discussion about STAR TREK (XI)
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 LOOK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU PISS ON AMERICA YOU GET PUNCHED! It's those "bloodshed" conflicts "in for instance Baghdad" is what is keeping your sorry ass form being nuked by terrorists! You think you can do a better job than get off your ass and run for Prime Minister of Norway! You want to talk Trek? Than talk about Trek but leave your left wing hate mongering against the greatest country in the world to yourself!
Trekfreek 6 months ago 5
@Trekfreek Iraq and terrorism, O'RLY!? Greatest country in the world? Yes I wanted to talk about Trek, but then you started talking about other movies that had nothing to do with the "conversation" and I just made a quick note on one of those movies...
So America is the greatest country in the world? Yeah sure, because ever since WW2 things have been awesome right? No racism, ethnic oppression, bad economy, huge debt, meaningless and groundless war... Yes, America is all unicorns and rainbows!
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 Learn your history! Racism started centuries before America. Segregation started before WW2 by left wing nut; It ended after WW2. The Great Depression ended before WW2. We had a thriving economy for the most part. The times it got bad were the times liberals were in charge. Every war we had was not groundless. Vietnam was intended to help end a revolution while preserving freedom. It failed because the conflict was poorly managed. You’ve got to learn to separate facts from opinions!
Trekfreek 6 months ago 6
Trekfreek 6 months ago 6
@nilsen93 Finally, I only brought up other movies as examples, if you could read English you would know this. I had no intention of defending America to you but obviously you don't know squat when it comes to history even recent history. May be you should go back to high school but this time in role in a private school; they have no agendas other than teaching true history from real history books.
Trekfreek 6 months ago
@nilsen93 I've spent more time with you than I care to. Go and live in ignorance of the facts Kid if that is want. But remember piss on another person’s country and you might start a war. PS. I would like you to remember that Norway is a tinny country, smaller than New York State, and it was saved by the Allies (this includes the US) in WW2. If the rest of your county feels the way you do, we might not save your ass again!
Trekfreek 6 months ago 11
@Trekfreek considering the fact that we do not invade other countries with no reason at all I doubt that will ever happen you arrogant, brain washed, snobby, selfs-entered douche! A fair amount of your country supports bigotry and racism, something we rarely find here in Norway. And for you to think that America deserves nothing but gratitude and appreciation because of WW2... Well then you are a sad excuse of a person. Good day sir, blocked
nilsen93 6 months ago
@nilsen93 No! You don't invade countries at all for any reason. You get invaded over and over and over and over and over. Then you cry to America and England to bail you out! You piss ant. Why don't you and your little pansy ass country GROW A PAIR!

Generally trailers action driven and you can't exactly put logical plot driven story effectively in a trailer.
hydrolito 2 months ago
@hydrolito What was so "thought provoking" about the story? (Story of STXI: Orphan grows up to be a small time crook, joins the military, pisses on authority, does only one decent act in his entire life, and same people he shitted on gives him their flagship.) Star Trek The motion picture is a different form of entertainment. What made the Godzilla movies bad was not the FX but the plots, stories and the science. But unlike the new movie, Godzilla movies really ARE “thought provoking”.
Trekfreek 2 months ago
@Trekfreek Okay yeah they did have some lame science in Godzilla but some science isn't completely lame gene splicing or merging two species as in Godzilla vs Biolante, okay a giant lizard merged with a plant is far fetched but a Russian Scientist tried to cross breed humans and chimpanzees, they have cross bred lions and tigers, camels and lamas, cattle and buffallo, had transplants of parts from pigs and baboons into humans, implants to control mind might be possible, so some possible.
hydrolito 2 months ago
@Trekfreek Oliver Twists had the artful dodger an orphan turned small time crook, Other aspects sound like Hitler pisses on Authority tries to take over and fails and not sure what if any decent acts he did during his life later he comes back and takes over Germany, starts numerous wars and of course he brought it to ruin.
hydrolito 2 months ago
@hydrolito Finaly, Why must i repeat myself over and over to people like you? Why can't you read what I wrote? I already said that Liking or disliking a movie does not make that movie good or bad. What makes a movie good or bad is whether or not it holds up to the requirements of good movie making. One of the most popular films of all time is required viewing in film class as an example of what not to do when making a movie. This movie has bad dialog, bad acting, bad editing…
Trekfreek 2 months ago
Bad story, and plot holes. It's called “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and it is loved as a sci-fi classic. Some people love it because it is bad others love it for its self. It is the movie that inspired “Raspberry Awards”. “Star trek (XI)” is just like “Plan 9 From Outer Space”, a bad movie that is loved by lots of people.
Trekfreek 2 months ago 3
@Trekfreek Godzilla movies except for the later ones had horrible special effects were still more entertaining than "Star Trek the motion picture" which had expensive and impressive special effects but was boring as crap, even the worst Godzilla movie was more entertaining than that. Haven't seen the 2009 Star Trek so will wait until I see it to evaluate it.
hydrolito 2 months ago
@Trekfreek No that move Bennifer made Giggli is 110% times MUCH Worse! This was and is the only Star Trek movie made for non Trekers that they can relate to and maybe thats why you don't like it because its too Actiony and not enough Sci-Fi? I am a Treky and I personaly liked it. My only complant was it took half the movie to get to Scotty. Other then that I liked it. I still think thou moving foward is a better idea and they should try and do that rather then move backwards.
SirRembrant 2 months ago
@SirRembrant I never seen "Giggli" so i can't comment about that film. My review of Star Crap has little to do with it being a "Star Trek movie made for non Trekkers" It has everything to do with the movie it's self! The fact people like you keep brining "a Star Trek movie made for non Trekkers" as an excuse for liking it tells me that you can't stand anyone pointing out every LARGE thing wrong about the movie. You can't accept the fact that you love a bad movie.

PimpDragon108 11 months ago
@PimpDragon108 "Bickering over these frachises seems pointless and contradictory to Rodenberry's worldview of peace." So is the new movie.
Trekfreek 10 months ago 4
@Trekfreek I just have to know - why do you ultimately care what others think? It won't change your thoughts so why attack the views of those who enjoy the new film? If others enjoy it, how does that affect you? I mean, you come on to a page about the new film just to attack those who like it? People like different things - it's always been and always will be the case. You can still watch the originals, so why go anonymously attacking people's opinions online? Again, not very Rodenberry.
PimpDragon108 10 months ago
@PimpDragon108 I don't care what others think as long as they allow opposing points of view; which you and your buddies don't. Re-read my posts I don't attack, I criticize and heckle but never attack. The new movie is not even close to what Roddenberry wanted. Also you don't care about Roddenberry's work or you would not be angry at a logical opposition.
Trekfreek 10 months ago 15
@PimpDragon108 Good post!!!

I grew up with Star Trek and am a long time original series fan. I was skeptical when this came out, but having seen it now, oh, about a thousand times, I can only say how awesome it is. The actors and story line, even with the paradoxes, are right on. The only downfall I see to this movie are those who criticize it, especially those who are too young to appreciate the original series.
windsongsidhe 1 year ago
@windsongsidhe You sir are not a fan. A true fan would hate this film. The Characters are not the same as the show; they even got the ages wrong. The science was unbelievable. The Story had no moral or taboo subject to think on after the film was over. The scrip was nothing but bad dialog. The acting was poor. Big questions if Nero changed history then what the hell were Kirk's parents doing on a star ship when they are colonists and where the hell is his brother Sam? It's a bad Trek Film!
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek First, I am not a sir. I am a ma'am. And I am a fan, a big fan. You fail to grasp the significance of the change of paradox in going back in time. The characaters don't change - the situations do. I am old enough to remember the original pilot with Capt. Pike. A true fan understands the complexity and nuances of this film.
windsongsidhe 1 year ago
@windsongsidhe You fail to realize that you can't change something you are not involved in. This includes the magical change of the sizes & looks of the ships, the magical changes in Scotty's McCoy's Uhura's, & Spock's life, the instant aging of Chekov & Pike by 10 years. A true fan loves the science of Star Trek. They don't ignore them just because the actors are "cute". Star Trek is also about issues that are relevant to the times. It's not in one eye out the other impossible plots GALORE!
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek You fail to realize that the original series faced a great many limitations of technology and that in any remake they will change details like ages. I'm sure you can tell that I never liked the original series however my history teacher was is and always will be a trecky. He can tell you everything about the series including the continuity errors and list the social issues that would have kept the show off air had they been addressed more directly. He also loves the new movie.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 No you fail to realize that Star Trek the new film is not a intended to be a remake. The limitations in budget did not stop the writers from making fantastic stories that challenged the viewers mind. In fact many of the writers feel that some of their best work happened because they had to limit their imagination to the ship. I bet your history teacher only likes it because of its name sake. I lived the history of Trek. I can tell you the impact it had on society. STXI is not TREK.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek No he lived the trek as well. And when I want a storyline that challenges my mind tos is not where I go. Next gen is much better in that respect especially since it isn't as bad as tos was about making card board villains. Best example I can think of at the moment is the episode with the stealthed planet.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 Did your teacher help get the first NASA space shuttle named Enterprise, petition to bring back Star Trek in 1976, petition to bring Spock back? Living during the time & actually participating are two entirely different things. Shatner did sound natural. The only reason people think they hear him talk Like. Each. Word. Is. It’s. Own. Sentence. Is because of Jim Carry. The only person who did a good Shatner was John Belushi. He talked normal until he was under stress, just like Kirk.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek How would I know if he took part in events before my birth I wouldn't have even known to ask about it. And by the way none of that accounts for your hide bound view of what trek 'should' be.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 “none of that accounts for your hide bound view of what trek 'should' be." Wrong again. Star Trek was a BIG part of society back in those days. It inspired people to become Doctors, Engineers, and astronauts. It inspired technology that you take for granted and its message of unity through cooperation helped people to work together in the industry business. One time you could not go into any job without seeing the poster "Everything I learned about life came from Star Trek.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek And none of that has anything to do with your hide bound view of what trek should be. What makes you think that there is no one going through college right now or will be soon who was inspired by what they saw in the remake. Oh yeah because your hidebound view of it will not allow you to accept any of the movies merits. All you can do is criticize everything that doesn't fit the version from 40 years prior.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 It's not my "hide bound view of what trek 'should' be." It's Gen Roddenbarry's. "I notice you ignored everything I said after the word translation" then you can't read. Also you told me "to pick a scene." That scene with the Vulcan masters just proves my point. He showed too much anger and so did they. For a race that is not suppose to have emotion they show a lot of it.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Since you brought up the creator of star trek then how about I mention that the vulcan did not represent the lack of emotion and if you actually paid any attention at all you would realize this. They kept their emotions under control they did not get rid of them. Strange how I seem to know more about this aspect of the series than a self proclaimed treckie.
olstar18 1 year ago
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Yet more proof that there is no point in arguing with nostalgia as age (and sometimes a healthy dose of senility) makes everything seem better than it ever was.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 It's not nostalgia, the movie is just plain bad. The villain is a moron, The hero a criminal, the plot is so bad a 4 year old could have wrote it, the script is riddled with bad dialog & sex it could have been written by a teenager, the camera angles & movement is so random it could have been filmed by a monkey on drugs, the lens-flares are out of controlee, & the performance was so bad I could not tell if this was a parody like BATMAN the series or intended to be taken seriously.
Trekfreek 1 year ago 3
@Trekfreek I know, the lens flares weren't even incidental, they were purposefully added in. When are action movie directors going to realize that cluttering up the screen with crap like this is just distracting. That said, I don't think the movie is a total lemon if you watch it expecting a cliche'd action driven movie and not a true science fiction movie. Still not a memorable film, definitely not worth getting on DVD.
MetalSlugzMaster 1 year ago
@Trekfreek And how many screenplays have you directed that were successful? Each to his own opinion. Sorry you didn't enjoy what is a very good movie.
meileen1942 9 months ago
@meileen1942 How many movies did you direct? I directed 5 screen plays that I also wrote. If I had the budget and permission from Paramount they would have been released on VHS back in 1993 and again in 2011. I have episode one posted on my channel. The movie is not a good movie and I'm sorry you can't admit that you love a bad movie. Here is a list of bad movies that I like...Godzilla 1953-2007, The Nude Bomb, Life Force, and The Austin Powers movies. It's not taboo to like bad movies.
Trekfreek 9 months ago
@Trekfreek The Japanese version of Godzilla came out in 1954 and english version in 1956 so how did you see a 1953 Godzilla? One of the many errors on MASH tv show no Godzilla movies and no Avengers Comic books by Marvel during Korean War.
hydrolito 2 months ago
@olstar18 or rather, something can be as good as remembered because it really was just that good. Just because it is older does NOT automatically make the new thing better. Things do not always change for the better. That has nothing to do with nostaligia. That is a fact.
So you can take your snooty, condescending "I know better than you because I am above your nostalgia" attitude and shove it up your ass. Sideways.
ReverendSyn 11 months ago
@ReverendSyn No one ever said that its bad because of its age other than people trying to claim thats what I am saying. I loved wrath of kahn and I loved next gen but I can't satand the original series. I do like the way they put different political and social problems into the episodes but the pacing the acting the fact that kirk is way to much of a larry stu for my tastes (kahn being a very notable exception) just plain turn me off to the show. Give me next gen or the new movie instead.
olstar18 11 months ago

Trekfreek 2 months ago
@Trekfreek The original tv version Spock didn't always keep his emotions in check either as he pretended he did but didn't and that was clear. He made snide remarks at Yeoman Rann when she was attacked by the duplicate Kirk although I interpret all transported Kirk's as duplicates the original was disintegrated. He also got angry at Kirk calling him names when affected by a flower to ward of the effects of the flower, He got angry at McCoy when they were back time in an ice age, etc.
hydrolito 2 months ago

Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek That argument failed before it even started. Guy that went to the same church as I did when I was a kid went to college for some kinda engineering degree because of star wars. Said it was the gadgets they showed in the movies. And no you are not criticizing the movie you are criticizing it for not being the same as the series that you are so nostalgic for.
olstar18 1 year ago

And perhaps the bad writing could be because they didn't have kirk do everything, perfectly, and instead had the entire crew bring something that would have had them fail otherwise.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 No I accuse them of bad acting because they jumped out of Character to make a scene work, looked bored when explosions happened and over acted on dramatic parts. PS Shatner never paused on every word, it was every syllable and he only did it once in a great while, to drive, his point, home. Plus the script had commas there.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Not talkin about when he added emphasis to each syllable. I'm talking about the way that he paced the words. His acting was so much better in the movies and outside of star trek. Enough about tos what scenes in particular are you talking about in the new version.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 Good actors, especially stage actors, always pace their words. Some examples are Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart, Robert Deniro, Michael Cane, and Ben Kingsley all pace their words just like Shatner does. Also Shatners pacing never changed, but his voice changed a bit. As for what scenes with in the new one, just pick one and I will help your untrained eye to see the poor performance.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Good actors always pace their words in such a way that it sounds natural. Those examples you gave fit this as does shatners pacing outside of tos. And no you pick out the scene.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18."you pick out the scene." O.K. How about everyone’s favorite scene, when Spock is snoging Uhura. First off his Planet was just destroyed, he is vulnerable yet a Vulcan first. He is not resisting he is just standing there looking like he was a bad little kid on his way to the Principal’s office, not like someone trying to hide his pain. Uhura's is groping him, not like a concerned lover, but as a horny slut trying to rape him at the peak of his vulnerability. That's BAD ACTING!
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Translation: because their acting is based upon a different generations view of the world it must be bad acting and not because they are acting based upon the values of a different generation.
I mean seriously. This is a vulcan and he has spent his entire life controlling emotion. He is utterly devastated but because of that training that is all the emotion he shows. And where did you get that bad little kid garbage.
olstar18 1 year ago
@olstar18 WRONG Again! When did Spock chose to embrace emotion in the movie? After his planet got destroyed? NO, After Sarek told him Vulcans have emotions? No. At the end of the movie with old Spock? Yes. I have seen real people try to hide their grief in real life, they don't sulk or pout, their pain only shows in their eyes and they never let anyone touch them. Those are humans; Vulcans are supposed to be more disciplined. I notice you did not disagree about Uhura.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek I notice you ignored everything I said after the word translation. And if you had paid attention that was not the first time his emotions showed. You happen to notice the way he said 'live long and prosper' when he refused his acceptance at the beginning.
olstar18 1 year ago
Personally I love the film! Its the first Star Trek film that felt more like an action film and less like a Sci-Fi film. I know some of you hard core Trekkies are not fans of this film but what would you have them do? Keep making films with old actors until they are all dead? No a rebot was the smart thing to do. I loved all the casting choices and making it a new universe that splits from the original makes total sense. This is a movie you can go see and not be a Trek fan and still have fun
SirRembrant 1 year ago

Firstly: terrible video review.
ROGUEGRIFFEN 1 year ago
What if somebody went and did an origin story with Star Wars where the characters were there (played by different people), and you added bad CG, a terrible story, and plot points that specifically defy the source material? Well we have that, it's the prequel trilogy and everyone agrees it's shit. It sucks for all the same reasons that Star Trek '09 and Indy 4 sucked. Be consistant people!
ROGUEGRIFFEN 1 year ago

Star Trek 2009 ftw
Tekkenman101 1 year ago
@Tekkenman101 The only dim wits I see are people like you. You can't support your claim that this new movie is a good one so you insult people. Get a life.
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek I don't need to formulate a rebuttal with a claim of my own for comments that are illogical and need i say "retarded". Whiners will be whiners, I only see the necessity to reply with the same incoherent logic that those type of posters comment with. Why bother myself with attempting to debate legitimately with morons? Anyways all I need to do is redirect you to yahoo. c om and ask that you look at the USER (a.k.a people) reviews for PAST Star Trek films. Need I say less?

THIS. MOVIE. SUCKED. OUT. LOUD.
mjmanning123 1 year ago
@mjmanning123 No it didn't here's why; i've never been that much into Star Trek, I had watched maybe 1 or 2 episodes but never followed it, then my friends pulled me in to see this, I loved it. And the first thing I did when I came home was order all the Star Trek boxsets, and now I consider myself a Star Trek fan.
G33KSPALACEdotCOM 1 year ago
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM If they were really your friends, they would have shown you the Original series and not this bland vanilla stale cheese puff of a movie. Brace yourself, real Trek actually requires neurons.
mjmanning123 1 year ago
@mjmanning123 I'm a game developer, so yeah, I think my neurons are covered. I liked the movie, maybe because I wasn't that familiar with Star Trek at the time, but still it was a good action movie combined with good acting, might not have been true to the series but I don't really care since it was labeled as a reboot, if it wasn't for this movie I would probably never have watched the TV Shows. So i'm pretty glad I went out and watched it.
G33KSPALACEdotCOM 1 year ago
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM. Working on games requires technical knowhow and knowledge of what makes a fun action story. It does not give you insight to what makes a good movie. The acting in this was as exaggerated as the game digital actors and their vocal tones as dull as a video game actor. A good movie is consistent with its self, no plot holes, and longer dialog then one liners. The new Trek film fails on all points. It looks like a video game.
Trekfreek 1 year ago

MrNickalollyoff 1 year ago
The movie was ok however I did not like the story line . I have 2 problems with the movie. 1. The Planet Valcan blowing up 2. Spock being in love with Lieutenant Nyota Uhura what is that all about? Nurse Christine Chapel would have been and a better Candidate
Why didn't they add The Valcan Lieutenant Saavik she would also be a good Candidate. Spock had a sexual relationship with her. I don't understand why that was not thought of. Kirk get beaten up all the time The movie is all wrong
petshopgirl72 1 year ago
Basically this movie is a Star Trek movie for people who don't like Star Trek. And thats my biggest problem with it. Well that and the story making no sense and being filled to the brim with stupid movie cliches.
