I'm 15. I've ridden my bike to school practically every day since 6th grade now I'm in 10th grade. My bike has over 3000 miles on it. I have a odometer on it so don't tell me I'm wrong. I never use a helmet, and never have fallen or crashed my bike since 5th grade. I personally think helmets are for idiots that don't know how to ride a bicycle. They don't even protect you in my opinion. Not to mention they make you look gay. Learn how to ride a bike, don't go wasting money on worthlessjunk

don't forget the chin straps! I bought the ten dollar walmart helmet and the foam part may be tested to impact standards but the chinstrap was not secure enough to keep it on my head during an actual head on accident. These are the parts they overlook in their designs to save a few bucks so you really should scrutinize a bit more than the cheap stuff with the high impact rating.

Australia had helmet safety laws. It did things:

1) Less cyclists on the road. Helmets were 'uncool' and thus cycling was uncool. Therefore people didn't want to do it.

2) Cyclist fatalities went UP. Because cars were less used to them being on the road. Nowadays they run adverts telling cars to "leave a meter." Scary.

So glad to be back in London, where there are more bikes than cars sometimes!

Even just a small fail from a bike can cause you to smack your head on the ground. You only have one brain so protect it. Truly a small fall can cause your head to split open when you hit it on the ground, wall etc . Once you mess up your brain that is it no do overs. So get the cheap 10.00 helmet and save your brain.
