Many public housing project and historically Black neighborhoods were constructed on toxic waste landfills, dumps, and toxic coal waste and incinerator waste wer used as fill dirt. These chemicals cause both medical and mental problems that could be responsible for much of the sickness, death, and violence that goes on in these neighborhoods. I believe all these neighborhood should be inspected for toxic waste. Today, many public housing are being demolished to cover up the toxic waste issues

I made it out! I was born in Cabrini Green in 1974 -I live in Kansas City now. I will always remember growing up in Cabrini Green in the Late 70's and early 80's with my Great Grandparents on Larrabee-It was rough for me being a mixed-race child.

Many public housing project and historically Black neighborhoods were constructed on toxic waste landfills, dumps, and toxic coal waste and incinerator waste wer used as fill dirt. These chemicals cause both medical and mental problems that could be responsible for much of the sickness, death, and violence that goes on in these neighborhoods. I believe all these neighborhood should be inspected for toxic waste. Today, many public housing are being demolished to cover up the toxic waste issues

I made it out! I was born in Cabrini Green in 1974 -I live in Kansas City now. I will always remember growing up in Cabrini Green in the Late 70's and early 80's with my Great Grandparents on Larrabee-It was rough for me being a mixed-race child.

Now I happen to be moving into some low-income apartments after being homeless for the past 7 months. They're born in these ghettos, with little to no access to education; that makes it pretty hard to get a job.
Kids born in this don't know any better. All they see around them is crime and violence, and most of the time, they'll reciprocate what they see. Normal behaviour. It's a cycle that needs to be broken.
Whether or not destroying projects is the way to do it, I'm not sure. Maybe rehabilitate them?

But seriously. I would not want these type of people living next to me anyday. That's why the government will alway's put up section 8 ghettos so all these people will just stay there and not ruin the nice parts of cities like they did in my city of Cleveland. It used to be nice industrious hard workin people until globalization kicked in and Now you can't even go into cleveland at night without a weapon or you get those broke bums in this video and shit harrasing you for your hard earned money.

This is a stupid video & I am so embarrassed by my own people behaving in this manner. How dumb can U be to get in front of a camera where a tape can surface & verbally show weapons that I am sure has a dozen bodies on them & say U will kill someone. That's why we out # any race in the prison system because of that. Fighting and killing all for nothing. The best thing that ever happen to Chicago was the tear down of those state street projects writing on the wall and piss in the hallway.

While the actions of some may be stupid, the video in of itself is not. Unfortunately, youtube has a time limitation (or did when I posted it) because so many people only watch part 1 and don't watch part 2, which is the REAL PURPOSE AND POINT to the video, which is why I don't often reply. Instead of projecting a bias POV and depict everyone in the hood as "victims" I wanted to show multiple viewpoints. Every story has 2 sides. Hopefully you & others will take the time to see both...THEN JUDGE.

I did watch both parts as it states on the right. I just gave my opinion. I might have stepped on someones toes but oh well. The way some of my people live is still ridiculous and shameful.....and this video depicts just that. I judged based on experience as well not just this video!!!

That's great that you're self-made. My parents were not wealthy and I joined the army to pay for my schooling. But you're still ignoring the fact that where you live and to whom you are born play a HUGE role in your chances at life. No one likes to admit that society has a say in who we are and instead prefer to say their success is only due to their hard work. It is not generally true. Being white, not in a ghetto, and in a family with two parents is already a huge advantage over ghetto kids.

This is so true! I live in the "ghetto" in chicago(not the projects) and I actually feel sorry for alot of people around here who dont think that there is a better life. I dont know, I think that we (6 siblings) were raised better. I have 3 big bros that never sold drugs or hung out on the corner, A big sis that has a family and is a manager at fedx, another sis thats in college, where i plan to be soon. So luckily its not ALL Black ppl or ALL people in the ghetto who are like the ppl in dis vid

You also choose to conveniently ignore the history of race in the US. The reason many blacks are stuck in ghettos goes way back to the suburbanization trend after WWII. Seriously, get educated or read a history book or something and stop being so closed minded and ignorant of society.

I'm in the South Bronx and quite frankly, this was the worst of the worst at one point. Right now, you have to look at parts of the South, Detroit City, Atlantic City NJ, Newark NJ, Baltimore MD for urban decay. Brownville Bklyn infrastructure isn't bad. You have some bad ass dudes out there but the area is fine. Brownsville has a lot of project bldgs. Just don't wear ya jewels out there or else! Poverty stricken areas represent ALL people of color. Watch education TV stations & you'll see.

Cool, i'm into Urban Decay also.lol.I'm from Chicago and being on the South sides driving past all those projects gave you a bad vibe!It was like being in another world like war-torn Europe. I definately know about the South Bronx!That shit is like an Urban maize like Chicago but the maize is the bigger, same design basically, same mentality.

NyCharlem...I was assigned the places to research as part of a project. I'm quite aware that there are other Projects that severely depict the situation really is, but that wasn't part of the assignment.

I personally know a plain clothes Chicago police officer, and the projects are part of his beat. He loves it. Criminals should hate them, not the boys in blue - watch for the burgundy chevy caprices if you're up to no good
