I'm all for pageants if the child ENJOYS them. Boys shouldn't do pageants, it should be girlz only. Money really isn't an option in the Pageant World. Hair and Make-up isn't a choice, it's a requirement. My Mom has probably spent around $7,000 on my pageants this year! :p

I love this documentary, but it feels rushed. They packed 2 pageants into 40 minutes. Plus there is a boom mic in the upper right for like 1/3 of the shots. lol

Because it'd make more sense if they won 'Most Beautiful', because how would the judges know how beautiful they are without the makeup? Oh, gosh.. Thank goodness pageants aren't this big in the UK.
@chickyeryn There are "natural pageants" here in the US as well, it's a specialized form of pageant where fake hair, makeup, etc, aren't allowed. As a girl, I loved to play dress-up when I was little, but I don't think I would have wanted someone to put fake hair and a bunch of makeup on me and make me prance around pretending to be a doll. I fakest thing I had was a fake tiara, lol-- and it was pretty short, too ;)

@MUINproduction actully it get's you towards modeling, some parts in movies, some singing careers, and actully for whoever else reads this comment, all the "BIGNESS" and "FAKENESS" is mostly always for people far away to see you better, especially on stage when the giant lights shine down on your face it really brings out (from far away) your hair, eyelashes & whatever.
They do have natural beauty pageants :) my niece competes in them, they're great! According to my neice shes gonna compete in a glitz pageant someday...but looking at this..its definetly not gonna happen!

@Scotsbell That's not what's being taught in Pageants. What is taught is: Self confidence, perserverance, public speaking, and social skills. You can't critisize a world you know nothing about.

@Scotsbell Maybe in your opinion there are better ways to teach girls self confidence, but I'm have great self confidence and it's all thanks to beauty pageants. Do you want to know what killed my confidence at age six? Soccer.
And I wouldn't have the skills I have now without pageants. I wouldn't have gotten into modelling and acting without pageants. Also, my mom uses pageants as motivation for school. That may not be good to you, but I need motivation like that.

5-6 category? my goodness....and all i see in the audience are other parents of pageant contestants. it isn't like they are learning to perform for a true crowd. it is a hotel ball room with very few people. i don't get why anyone would schlep their kids all over the country for this.
