Ah shit :( I have no doubt that in his prime he was always one of the best drivers going around. He proved himself and got a drive with Williams, who were a contender until then, so his promotion to a "top team" was tainted. People were saying that Williams performance was partly Webbers fault, they had no idea. He finally has a good car now, but he must have lost 1/10th or 2/10ths at age 35 compared to the days of front row in a Jag, and Vettel is fast which makes him look bad. But not to me.
He knows he can beat Vettel and has outdriven him on more than one occasion. I so hoped he would be champ in 2010 after leading most of the year in the points. Had he not spun in Korea I have little doubt he would be champion now. Atleast he is in the best car, and I expect Red Bull to be strong in 2011 as well.
yeah, considered vettel is one of the quickest racers ( raw speed ), webber has done well to outdrive him on several occasions, both in the race and qualifying. remember monaco, how webber was so quick, and famously at silverstone, if red bull gave equal preference, webber would have won that wdc, but yeah roll on 2011 !!
he's such a colourful character, he's so much ore down to earth than the other drivers... people seem to mistake this for arrogance but that's just his demeanour.
he's definitely one of the most talented drivers on the grid, he's proven that against "new schumi" vettel in equal machinery, the fact that he still has critics astounds me...
The tribute is as good as the driver. 5/5. 4 people must have been so enthralled by the video that they wasn't paying attention when trying to click on the like button.
No you argument has been that Webber's dad bought his way into F1 which is not true. As i quote from one of your previous comments "he jumped the queue with his Dad's money ahead of heaps of guys in Australia" which is not true at all. I'm not going to lie some drivers like Piquet and Hamilton used their dads money but not Webber, he did it the hard way. As for your Nepotism statement, if your child or wife wanted to do something wouldnt you help them? Its not Nepotism its called Support.
Ann Neal is Webbers life partner and manager you idiot. When they were young they worked together, she was an aspiring manager and he was an aspiring driver, she got the sponsorship. They worked together through his whole carer and fell in love. The fact that you dont even know this clearly shows that I know more about Webber than you do as you continuously make false assumptions about people that you dont even know.
Mark Webbers dad "Alan Webber" was a Motorbike salesman in Queanbeyan, he didn't even work for Yellow Pages idiot. Webber made his connections in yellow pages through Ann Neal. Mate you seriously dont know shit. It's quite funny that you actually think that.
mallamoozoo you obviously need to know the history of Webber, you are convinced he got into F1 through a rich daddy which is not true at all. Through his whole racing career his dad bought him his first formula ford car, thats all, thats the only thing he got from his dad's money, the rest he got from Sponsors and teams like Yellow Pages, Ann Neal, David Campese, Mercedes-AMG and of course Paul Stoddart.
Get your facts right, Webber almost went broke in Europe trying to get into F1.
I wish I started go-karting at a young age and I didn't push myself hard enough to persuade my Dad that I really wanted a racing career. I'll never know how competitive I would be in championship races. I just have to accept it and move on. I know how you feel, it feels like something's burning inside you and you just wish you could have what you always wanted, but its a passageway that is blocked by money etc..
When you put that into perspective and compare Lewis Hamilton's 1st year he lost the championship by 1 point. It's not just because of Lewis's talent got him winning races it's also his car that made him very competitive. He is simply a charted driver for Mclaren. Mark started from the smallest to the medium teams and now hes in one of the top. Every driver has a different career starting point and it just shows, you don't need much experience to be a successful F1 driver.
hahaha, its sad that you, a random internet git can criticise a professional racecar driver. Webber has had failure after failure (mechanical) and a couple this year. Without them hed be much closer mayube ahead of vettel.
What a win! Best thing is, it was no fluke, it was not handed to him on a plate through someone else retiring. He was clearly the best driver all weekend and got his long awaited desserts. may we hear the Aussie national anthem on the podium many more times to come!
wooohooo yes yes yes ys ys yes yes yes yes yes yes, FUCIN Awesome job i am behind u all the way it has been a long time but finally u did it awesome job
I once said earlier he doesnt need to be with the top teams, he has gotten podiums the real way, but this yr 09 he's already gotten 2 podiums and a 2nd place, If i do say so myself a WIN is LONG OVERDUE and i wont be suprised if he gets one this yr
Brilliant video. Hopefully this year will be a good one for Webber, his drive last weekend showed he has the skill and importantly the car to do the job this year.
Jackie Stewart also believed that Chris Amon was one of the top 3 drivers in the late 1960's. Ferrari wanted to keep Amon for 1970 but he wanted to drive a car with a Cosworth V8. In 1968 he was faster than Ickx, his team mate. Ickx lost the 1970 title by 5 points. OK,Rindt had died when 4 races were left of the season.
