It's a tragic shame to Irish cricket and they really should be a test team, they'd certainly give Bangladesh and Zimbabwe a run for their money if no-one else, unfortunately that isn't the case yet!
@LFC9110 sorry mate nothing wrong with south-african-background players like Strauss and Prior playing, but this guy has played ODIs against England for Ireland. They are not too good to be playing for Ireland...does Steve Tikolo who plays well enough to join most Test teams leave Kenya? still it's understandable
@LFC9110 Its not because they're too good for Ireland, its because England are so desperate for decent players that they resort to this. You can tell all the former England players are embarrassed about it. In the World Twenty20 English born players only scored 218 runs out of over a thousand in the tournament. Not only are England unnaturally improving their own side, but they are stifling a weaker nation from getting better, thus destroying the chance for the sport to grow globally.
@chatsworth1buccaneer Not entirely true, England aren't soliciting foreign players into their team the foreign players come and play in england and qualify off of their own backs, Morgan came to england because he wanted to play Test cricket, Trott was happy in the county game and was asked if he wanted to, Pietersen was persuaded by Clive Rice and Kieswetter snubbed his country in favour of England
@AerospaceEngineer90 Okay I take your point, it is a two way street but you can't say England didn't actively seek out Eoin Morgan, even though he was happy to say yes. I love the game and the more competitive nations the better it will be. I mean I have listened to English players and coaches speaking of how they wish associate teams to improve and to then look to Ireland for talent is the height of hypocrisy. Good to see Bangladesh improving though.
@chatsworth1buccaneer Well you say that Bangladesh are improving, I say it was just a piss poor performance by England; Strauss' tactics were lacking something, unorthodox players playing unorthodox shots invariably to short balls and theres no proper fly slip? Finn was the only bowler with even a modicum of respect earnt!
ECB may have encouraged Morgan but only after he made his intentions clear... Don't get me wrong though I'd rather see a strong Ireland with Morgan and Joyce playing tests
@AerospaceEngineer90 I thought England were below their best but they did okay to get twenty wickets on a great batting pitch against a team whose strength is batting. To be realistic though, Bangladesh could have been bowling until next summer and they still wouldn't get twenty wickets.

Because they're too good to be playing for Ireland. And Joyce is no longer in the England team anymore.
