  • i've got a question though, how much gas/oil/energy/electricity is used to recycle plastic bottles into polyester?

  • Wow

    someone shared this with me

    very iNteresting

  • Recycling Level: Asian

  • I Love The Video The rather complex process of converting used plastic bottles into useful polyester for the clothing industry. It Can Increase My Knowledge

  • Steady I Really Like This Video How Plastic Bottles Are Recycled Into Polyester

  • Good, I like that you share this video complex process of converting used plastic bottles into useful polyester for the clothing industry. If it wasn't for the cheap labour, is it still a profitable business, I wish success always

  • Nice Video The rather complex process of converting used plastic bottles into useful polyester for the clothing industry That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • I Really Like The Video The rather complex process of converting used plastic bottles into useful polyester for the clothing industry From Your

  • Your Video The rather complex process of converting used plastic bottles into useful polyester for the clothing industry Is Very Useful Sharing

  • How fucking neat.

  • So, I'm wearing plastic bottles?

  • re - USE

  • Very sad video. Makes my country (America) look bad. Why are we not doing this? China is going to take over the world.

  • @36theghost I am sadder for China becoming the world rubbish bin. There is no where near taking over the world.

  • So that expensive satin dress I got my girlfriend (it says 100% polyester on the label) started as plastic Coca-Cola bottles then?

  • @Diamondblade2008 no, not always. It could be made from oil products from the beginning? PET-bottles are mostly used to make fleece and such. The fabric is "rougher" than other. But it could still be. But if you look at those very very expensive outdoor and survival clothing, they use fleece-like fabric a lot! And those clothes are very often so expensive! But the recycling proces is expensive, yes, but not that expensive like that clothing.

  • @Diamondblade2008 What is wonder about is, they promote it because it's recycling this, and recycling that, saying it's a much greener product and so. But when you're done wearing such clothing, what happens to it than? And also, the recycling, doesn't it polute much, like when they shred it, and wash it, there is a lot of plastic-dust in the water. What happens to that water? And the heating to melt it again, that has to be a lot of energy. But, hé, it's recycling, so i can't question that! lol

  • @periesicsd Thanks for those 2 detailed replies it's just that I was rather taken aback by this video as I spent a lot of money on an expensive satin dress for my girlfriend and I thought it began its life as a coke bottle!

  • @periesicsd Exactly! They make out as long as it is recyclable it is green, so consumers can feel good, can keep buying cheap polyester fashion and throw it away. When is it end? and what is the end?

  • I LOVE seeing forward - earth saving stuff like this.

  • This is so cool, and so good for the earth!!!

  • Great video - pretty incredible to see the end result !

  • good clip

  • wow...now that's making a profit. turning garbage into clothing.

I am in the wrong business.

  • In your face Gold and silver!!!

  • i wear bottle 18 years

  • Shredding at this stage isn't made to get the liquids out it's a poisitve sideeffect (but a lot more work to shred them and then later to sort them) but neccecary otherwise you couldn't ship it to china because it would be declared as illegal garbage transport.

  • if you have metal recycling can you post that up? I can only find a czech dub...

  • Oooh so that is what polyester means...

  • @Triwood1973 Lol

  • 2 dislikes = 1 jealous paki + Osama bin Laden

  • polyester recycling really isn't cost efficient at all. The few attempts to establish a large processing plant have failed. Most polyester clothes are not made from recycled bottles.

  • @Icix1 Asian countries mostly china buy out PET bottles 500-800EU a ton mostly cause of their textile industry. Still not efficient?

  • thanks.

  • The chinese really do have the answer for just about everything.

  • haha...Travolta...what a lame way to end a surprisingly interesting video

  • it sucks! you're gonna love it.

  • Nice video.Hope we can save our planet ,like these projects.

  • And all done in China, of course. No manufacturing like this done in USA, sadly.

  • Wow that was cool!!!!

  • Holy Shit. I am wearing plastic bottles everyday now. You learn something new everyday.

  • WHAT THE HELL ... wat happen to the PBS olds skoo 80s type feel of how shit is made dont konw why but u always get sinked in to those ... and it be something we never care for like plastic bottles...or airsoft bbs

  • cant we just wear emply bottles instead?

  • @Octavideoz haahhahahaahhha

  • They should be paying me for my recycled rubish!

  • thank you :D

  • /watch?v=aVhFsg1vPTg&feature=sub

    reality ^^^

  • dont get too excited people

here in the US we only recycle 30% of what is put in the bin!! we have a loooong way to go yet

in the US we ship all our plastic to China where they turn it into clothing. They use it to make clothing because clothing turns more of a profit than recycled bottles.

Until we use all of our plastic to renew our bottle supply the industry will not be sustainable.

idea: grow less corn for fast food, grow more cotton for clothing, use all plastic for new bottles.

  • I curious about how much energy this process uses, and how that compares to the energy consumption of producing polyester from new materials.

That being said, as a mechanical engineering student I can't help but think that is cool.

  • americain can't do this so they are selling the stuff to chinese ...

  • How wonderful! ALWAYS recycle!

  • thanks you so mcuh is just helped me with my science assessments task

  • What show is this?

  • I am totally fascinating by this. I would love to work there for a few months just to see how they recycle all those things

  • wow

  • Chinese ppl r like the smartest.. Though I wonder y we still have the best doctors

  • I wear polyester a lot, so I'm a plastic person ( And going Green)!

  • Thanks, this is awesome.

China is an amazing country in many different ways.

  • 原來膠樽真係可以用黎造衫嫁..

  • very good my clotes are plastic:p

  • Another great upload, great.

  • Unreal! I had absolutely no idea that this process was what junk plastic bottles would go through! It's a heck of a lot of processes and steps though and the working conditions / health concerns are harsh ! I suppose it would not be economically viable to do all this for our own selves, in Country, the wage demanded would out way the profit. Very interesting vid! Thanks

  • Amazing!

  • Yeah! Keep em' coming!

  • Thanks for a great upload again Triwood !

  • folks should think about before they fork out x hundred bucks for the latest trend......

  • i wonder wat would happen if that thread were to get tangled. well i'm gonna go find out (offf to china!!)

  • thanks triwood

  • cool

  • Recycling on steroids!

  • very interesting !

  • if this method became popular then we wouldnt hav a problem with plastic pollution

  • wow that went through a bit more than any consumer can imagine
