  • Yeah a lot of the Sudanese Jews were of Egyptian Alegerian Persian Turkish even some Ashkenazim there was even a small population of Native Sudanese Jews but most of them left the cemetary is a mess and the main Synagouge was turned into a back a lot of them would go to Asmara Eritrea for the high Holidays I know this community well.

  • @AlmazB there were never "a lot of sudanese jews"

    the community was always small..

my generation is now heavily integrated into other communities.. next generation will probably hardly even know that a community ever existed..

  • @lirunoftelaviv Umm I never said the community had 'A LOT" Read again I said a lot of them meaning most of the ones that I met when I was a Jewish child myself growing up in Asmara many of them used to come down to Asmara for the high holidays the whole community was only about 350 at its height just like the Jews of Asmara. which was about same amount mostly comprised of Sephardim and mostly Yemenite Jews spinkled in with a few native Eritrean and Ethiopian Jews and some Persian.

  • I know this community quite well because my Uncle and Grandfathe's were both rabbis at the Synagouge of Asmara and one of my Cousins names Sami Cohen is the last Jew left IN Asmara we like the Sudanese have all left and intergrated with other communities. Yours ended in the 60's ours ended in the late 70s early 80's so hardly anyone knows about the Jews of Sudan nor Eritrea,

  • Sudanese Jews?

Wow. seriously never knew there were such a people...I dont know how that be...please explain!

  • @CAsurferful we were a small community.. 500 families at the peak..

  • @CAsurferful some Jewish Families are still in Sudan .. my best friend Is a Sudanese Jew :)

  • the sudanese jewery was tiny - this is where part of my family sort of comes from.. the brides family came from there too..

  • @lirunoftelaviv

This is such a beautiful ceremony my friend.. I am from the Sudan, and just wish if the Sudanese Jewry would come back to Sudan. I love and respect the Jewish people a lot, and one of my extended family back in the Sudan married a beautiful Jewish woman from the Sudan a long time ago but she sadly converted as most where forced to do so in an ugly barbaric Islamic procedures to save their lives in hostile environment. Thank you for sharing this video with us...
