The video is interesting. I don't like the hype around cycling here in NL, but, again, it is free speech. I do bike a lot for recreation (I mean, 40km fast cycling on segregated bike paths far from city limits with almost no children or pedestrians), but I dislike some things like priority on side roads. Being a also a car driver (with no regrets or guilty about it), I found it sometimes not only tricky, but dangerous, when they don't leave enough space to wait in front of bikepaths.
At the side road junctions, where you have priority, do find drivers respectful of this? I don't think it'd work here (Scotland) as we don't have assumed responsibility (strict liability or whatever its called). It great to see from your other vids that the network is continuous and well maintained :-)
@HLaB75 Yes, always. Not the same as the UK. However, note that it is obvious from the road markings and signs who has priority. No guesswork. Strict liability is part of the issue, but well designed infrastructure is the the most important aspect. See the blog for more details.
Thanks for promoting the use of bikes and the efficiency of the due infrastructure for them. I wish we had cycling lanes where i live and that we weren't slaves of public transportation companies and cars.
my daily road. but then on a moped. its good that mopeds are allowed to drive on the vehicle road. and BTW my favorite car @ 2:11 at the left side. Opel Calibra :D
another nice road trip is: assen-loon-gasteren-anloo-annen-zuidlaren-de groeve- meerwijck- noordlaren - midlaren - zuidlaren - tynaarlo - vries - assen. around the lake "zuidlaardermeer"
In the US our goverment forces us to ride in the same lane as motorists. I often have them pass within inces or cut infront of me and jam on thier breaks. The laws are to protect aggressive motorists. I have had a police chief threaten to me for riding to stores and to doctors offices. That was on a state bicycle route, too. I hate America and would move in a second to the Netherlands!!!

Apparently the joggers are just as ignorant about their place on the sidewalk!

True, but there's plenty of room to get past them.

I noticed the new camera within 2 seconds :)
No wonder I like cycling more than I did driving my car through Assen. It's all about infrastructure.

This video looks better than the old ones. Are you using a new camera?

Brilliant! I will send this to local traffic officials to show them how an enlightened society treats cyclists.
