If you want a really good flight simulation, try X-Plane. Having used that and FSX, I can tell you X-Plane is way ahead. The only advantage FSX has is better air traffic control. When it comes to simulation, FSX is using lookup tables and X-Plane is actually simulating the air interacting with the wings, fuselage, etc. There is no comparison. Fly a real airplane, then fly its model in FSX and X-Plane. You will see the difference.
FSX or FS9 with proper add-on planes it's only good for practising procedures. The flying dynamics are not so good. For pilots it's better to use real simulators.
It's such a bummer to have to fly one's craft around and around a 16 acre plot of land! I've asked the Lindens a number of times to please allow separated sims to turn their referential axis on their sides, so that flying could be done on a 256 x 4096 plane with a 256 height... but no, they do not seem to be able to change a few variables in their code for some strange reason? Imagine a current sim wide by 16 current sims long with no borders!... paradise.
