Also, I know (from BTTF lol) hazmat suits weren't invented at least historically until the 60s or 70s I believe, but why aren't any of them wearing surgical masks, or gloves or some shit? Even then they had to be aware of germs and viruses.

Who would wait 20 years to release the other film? They were never connected per say. I say real. Do a frame by frame look and look around at all the background and things.
