Had also practiced BJJ, Systema, MuayThai and boxing for many years. I don't mean any confusion here, Krav Maga is certainly effective without any doubt. However for me, i find lots of borrowed things (not a bad thing) coming from WT and others, and if you know the other games, Krav Maga in my judgement then loses its effectivity as many others do.

I practice krav maga but I think as far as gun disarmament is concerned it fails due to the fact that it doesn't take into consideration that the gun will probably fire while its in your and the attackers hand and will kill the person behind you and explode your fingers at the same time. I think "Tactical Edge" provides a better solution by not allowing the weapon to fire. The trick is that you need to know something about guns first.

@bjesperson - no offense or disrespect intended and really i am not ignorant. i did krav maga for about 2yrs while holding a 3rd Technician in WT. Had also practiced BJJ, Systema, MuayThai and boxing for many years. I don't mean any confusion here, Krav Maga is certainly effective without any doubt. However for me, i find lots of borrowed things (not a bad thing) coming from WT and others, and if you know the other games, Krav Maga in my judgement then loses its effectivity as many others do.

@itsfiguredout If you research the history of Krav Maga, it was literally developed by taking techniques from all different martial arts and modifying them as a flow to suit attacks in close quarters and from multiple assailants. So thats probably feel like you find lots of borrowed things.

This is for cases where he wants to mug/kidnap you, so he would approach.
You can even act scared to make him feel more comfortable and lure him to approach you.

Take off your protective gear and fight a real Kravist and you'll find out.

@JORDHOLMEN YOU ARE WRONG. We spar with a shock knife in my Krav class. It is as close as you can get to the real thing. AND IT WORKS. I know there is no such thing as a perfect system, but in my 19 years of martial arts training (6 in Krav Maga) I have not found anything more practical.

this is not martial art, that's a good selfdefence system...I wouldn't grow up my children with krav maga principles ( none) instead ju jitsu teach you respect, lessons for your life. I have to admit it's good self defence ( I'm thinking to spend sometime to do it). I practice krav maga but I think as far as gun disarmament is concerned it fails due to the fact that it doesn't take into consideration that the gun will probably fire while its in your and the attackers hand and will kill the person behind you and explode your fingers at the same time. I think "Tactical Edge" provides a better solution by not allowing the weapon to fire. The trick is that you need to know something about guns first.
