  • I really enjoyed this, it makes me wish that I had access to a range of this size and a weapon of such character!

  • Sweet! You can see the vapor trail in the upper left part of the screen. Have to look in the first inch or so.

  • let the barrel cool down man !!! You must have bought a lee enfield model that didnt get much service during the war. Rarely are these guns accurate. If they have seen much action that is !

  • i bought NO.4 about 20 years ago for $89 from a relics dealer had good bore decent stock had it drilled and tapped for scope mount $ 40 bucks killed about a dozen deer with it still have it and shoot it reload shells for it at about $ 0.44 a round

  • 2300 fps seems like a fairly mild load - have you ever used hotter loads? Just thought it might tighten the groupings a little at the longer ranges. I purchased some 180gr highland SP ammo rated at 2430 fps for my father, and reading through my Nick Harvey reloading manual, 2520 fps seems to be achievable with 48 gr of AR2209 pushing the 174 gr projectile, in an an SMLE.

Great shooting anways mate, love seeing the SMLE sending lead long distances!

  • @mag30th Where do you buy your ammo from mate, or did you load it yourself?

  • I was just looking up these vids for what one of these guns sound like because I have my great grandfathers .303 rifle right in front of me, but when I read the title of your video, I was amazed to find one of the EXACT year and model. Very cool video and I cannot wait to fire mine.

  • looking for full stock for a No1 Mk3, please message me

  • There is also another smithless scope mount @ addleyprecision com

  • Very impressive I actually started shooting a 1943 No. 4 Mk 1 that i picked up off a friend for 150 dollars. What ammo are you using? I have been hand loading but have not really found a round/powder match i like yet.

  • i have a 1944 parker hale sporter ( lee enfield) with a 4 x40 bushnell scope on it .i use it for deer hunting , didnt think you could get this range out of the 303 . great shooting . long live the 303's

  • shooting when its cold outside is the best!

  • -= Thank you for the high-quality sound. =-

I'm turning this sound into a ".wav" file so that I can use the gun firing sound in my Battlefield 1942 mod. I like real-life sounds, not fake computer-generated sounds, so you and this video are a lot of help to me.

Again, thanks for having high-quality sound.

  • NO.1 MKIII IS THE BEST

  • When the crap hits the fan, I want my SMLE

  • there looks to be a big difference in the shoulder angle of you fired brass verses your loaded

  • I have a us property marked #4*1T enfield sniper.( was told that it was a holland & hoIland built rifle). looked for yrs for the proper scope mount for it ..now I would love to try it at at long range... took it to a DCM match, 3 different types of ammo, 'cause I couldn't find 60 rnds of the same stuff, scored way higher than the guy next to me that had a M1A NM, gunny rangemaster told me I did the rapid fire faster than the M1a guy, and scored better too.... the old enfield is better than me

  • Everyone loves a British Design

  • great shooting what brass load and projectile are you using?

  • is this the savage u.s property 303?

  • Them gun were awsome and are still as deadly as ever in the right hands, there was a platoon in W2 who could fire them so fast that the germans thought it was full auto mounted gun,

The MK1 ( I think) had a trench site on it just to the left or right ov the rear ov the bolt so our boys could get them rounds to drop into trenches

  • Was 4:15 an actual hit?? I seen the bullet splash in the dirt..

Maybe a Possible Ricochet into the dirt, that is if your target is at an angle.. It doesn't look like its at an angle though..

Just curious.. I have a 303 as well..

  • @jpcs302 Yes, it is at a very sharp angle turned to the right. The plate is set up for the 420 yard shooting range and on this day I was allowed to come in early before it opened and shoot it from 1,000 yard distance. The angle caused bullets debris deflections to the right side of the target.

  • @mag30th and yes, 4:15 jusr grazed the left edge of the target.

  • @mag30th very impressive, ive been after the 500 meter gong at our range lately, i cant nail it though, its only a 10 inch steel target so it is challenging and we have like 5 ft of snow here and i have had my elevation correct according to the ballistics calculator but for the life of us we cannot see where that bullet lands in the snow even with 2 spotting scopes on it, im grouping 1 inch or less with it at 100 yards so hitting that thing shouldnt be a problem once i find my elevation

  • @mag30th Nice.. I wish I could do some shooting at that range with mine...

That's sweet to get into the range before everyone else, friends in high places huh..

Good shooting buddy.. keep it up..

  • @mag30th thats unbelivable shooting. the enfield is an amazing rifle i once shot a better group with mine then a friend did with a rem 700 sps at 200 yds. what kind of round are you using and what grain by the way

  • I used to shoot competition at a place to shoot!

  • I was a British infantry sniper for about seven years, we were trained and expected to hit continually depending on conditions up to 800 yards, head or upper body shots up to 600, but only harrassing fire up to 1000. It is difficult to see 'splash' or bullet burn at the greater ranges, except for on the ranges, we rarely seen the ideal conditions depicted here. I loved this video and wish I could have joined you; it is still in my blood even today!

  • @overopensights Thank you sir! I wish you could have joined me as well, thanks! Ernest.

  • @overopensights seeing splash is impossible for me i have been shooting targets at 200 yards and the thing is i NEVER hear the ping of the target and i can't even see the slightest of splash it's extremely irritating and my mosin nagant is quite accurate for a mosin but the problem is i can't see if i hit or not so i always try and adjust my sights -_- because i think i did something wrong

  • will the mount you have for this rifle accept any scopes , i am a avid hunter and historic weapon collector , and i am looking to combine the two , but to insure my marksmanship and to minimalise animal pain , i would like to mount one of my scopes on the enfield , thanks

  • @ferretinpro Yes.

  • what kind of bore brush do you use for the Lee Enfield?

  • Man, I love the sound of that bolt cycling. Beautiful machine.

  • Do you own any modern sniper rifles?

  • Great video (-: I'd love to try out my No4 at those kind of ranges!

  • Great video (-:

  • @mag30th Where did you get your S&k scope mount? I need to get me one for one of my own enfield

  • Google it, it will come up, they have a web site.

  • im trying to find a scope mount for my enfield.. just got it today for my 14th birthday WOO (.308)

  • Im 14 and love shooting this, along with most military rifles, i love em, but they kick like a bitch

  • Glad you've got a new video out!

  • Fantastic shooting!!! Have you sent a vid to the NN Safari challenge yet? You'ld be a sure winner!!!

    5*s

  • do you use full length dies for your 303?

  • Ill take once fired brass resize only the necks.

  • sometime try tracer round at dusk . . . .

will be so much fun to watch

  • agreed....anything that has to do with tracer rounds!!!

  • When the timing is right Ill post something along those lines, I have some ideas already.... :-))

  • Great video as always.

The Lee Enfield is a fantastic rifle.

  • Thank you sir!

  • Apparently during one of the first engagements of WW1, an Irish unit of the British Army gave the Germans a jolly bloody nose as they marched on Paris.

The Micks were firing so rapidly with their Lee Enfields that the Hun thought they were under machine gun fire.

    Tally ho!

  • Imagine if every British soldier in WW1 could shoot as good as you.

  • Im sure many could shoot better than I can, but thanks!

  • Great! Love Lee Enfield!

  • Great shooting as usual, love watching watching your videos

  • what you think is more accurate 303 lee en or k31 Swiss

  • The Swiss :-)

  • Is this just a stock (- scope and mount) mil surp Lee Enfield?

  • Yes, I havent modified this rifle in any way, although I have spent a significant amount of time fine tuning the ammo.
