@lVleSHuGGA Well I still stand by what I said. PhysX is a crappy gimmick, merely adding a handful (1 or 2) of dynamically rendered objects to the same pre-rendered room to choke a useless low profile card...I've seen those Batman AA PhysX videos, complete and utter crap. Physics cards were a viable option when dual cores just came about but now? With 6 core CPUs already out and 8 core CPUs on the way next year? Give me a fucking break, PhysX is a joke.
The only difference visible here is the extra sprites that are generated when the physics card is there, which is kind of cheating on the game developers part because the option to enable them isn't even there without a card, still doesn't prove that the card does squat.
so I just want to know if i still need this card? please give youre suggestion. i dont want to spend alot of money just to build a new pc, so please email me back at jhaym_pascual12@yahoo(dot)com
this card will give you nothing.. your pc is to old and too weak to handle any of the new games with or without PhysX accelerator... consider to buy a core2duo processor 2 Gb of ram and a Geforce 8 or 9 series GPU which actually has a physx processor built in and since yesterday Physx drivers are out for geforce G92 based gpu`s...
and im wondering if one of these card would help me. Also do they improve fps cpu% etc in games that dont have the physix logo on the box ? like Call of duty 2 , .... (and got any experience with the 9serie of GF ? i heard rumors that the 8 serie is still bether and thats the 9 serie is the 8600chip with some extra features ,,?)
Even a Quad core system and 8800GTX can't do what a PhysX card can. You -don't- really need this card, the game will just run fine without it. PhysX card is there to add eye-candy, it won't make your game suddenly go twice as fast. Plus, only games that has PhysX logo that can take advantage of the card.
Your CPU or GPU won't have to compute the phisics-calculations.
Though it is indeed mainly meant for eyecandy.
But I think the eyecandy is pretty impressive.
Too bad there aren't too many games that can actually use the card, though some very popular ones can (like Rainbow Six Vegas), so you won't buy it for nothing.
And such a nice system indeed can't do the same without PhysX. 8800GTX's don't have a real built-in PPU. They just put a "CUBA-code" in the driver.
In Fact Explosions Generate Force Filed Pushes Particles Around In All Directions in Sonic Speeds ,That Effects on Any Object or Creature in the Range and The Force Pushes them Away

by and large, a physx card is not what everyone thinks it is. It takes over any jobs involving the physical destruction of environments. Ergo, anything destroyed in a game without physx may look completely different to one with physx, simply because everything undergoes different algorithms than it would in your CPU
no but good graphics cards like the 8800gt can do the same thing but not as fast as the physX can. because the physX is ONLY for the physics. so it'll be slower when your graphics card has to calculate the physics and the graphics.
Is it true that ATi isn't capibal of using a PhysX card to it's full potential anymore?Should I just forget about getting a PhysX card if I have an ATi GPU?
well.. it's not pointless even if you have a Quad core... i tested with the Source engine and everything on MAX 16AA and 16 AF with my 8800GT
without Physx: 181fps
with Physx: 183fps
Not much improvement in frame rate there but the thing is the physic in the game will be much different i guess since i haven't tested any other games. I tested Switchball and see little improvement from 8800GT to 88000GT + Physx card. But the 8800GT doesn't do fluid as good. Lots of Eye Candy!!! GET ONE NOW..
Well Intel have Havok now Nvidia will have PhysX AMD ATI wont have any thing was realy disappointed in there 3870 my 8800 GTS still better then it i my end up sending the 3870 back
is it lava that comes out of that weapon.. not heavy lava, that a life time for it to fall to the ground.. is it physicX all about particle that comes out of explocions.. and only certain objects... what about fire that bounces from wooden boxes.. is that PHYSIC.. quantum physic.. or geek physics.. not wasting $150 on that..
If they integrated the Phys-X with say Havok or something instead of requiring you to use THEIR physics engine I think this could have gone somewhere.
Some one Tell me which GFX card they are using with this?
The extra effects are cool But they seem to be slow.
flame throwers leaving dripping flaming puddles are realistic. But the apparant lack of the normal 1 newton of gravity makes it look asthough its on the moon..
This is true, but you can save some fps by using a physX processor. Besides, if you have enough money for a quad core, you can probably salvage enough money to buy a physics card
Yea! you can see the Cell Factor demo! there are like 2000 objects reacting like they should when colliding/being hit/destroyed(taking in consideration weight, dimensions, momentum, surfaces) it totally brings the possibilities to infinty! it's so great having a device only to calculate and apply physic reality and laws to the game's engines =D
why is it every time i see a physx demo everything controlled by the ppu is super super slow moving, like it weighs half a gram or like the ppu is struggling? cos.. its like everything.. not just gas/liquids.. not that it isnt sweet.. but why does that happen? is it struggling or do they purposfully do that in demos to show it off?
Looks better without PhysX. Fire going liquid? And the explosions and movement of things look very slow, like no gravity. Also with the green thing explosions, the particles made a sphere, not realistic IMO...
The reason that the fire looks like liquid is because flamethrowers spew out the fuel with the fire to give it better range, otherwise it'd just be a very large lighter.
these physx cards are cool but they are only compatible with about 15 games most of which such. if it was compatable with ALOT more games yes i would buy it but for £80+ pounds dont bother!!
yea this card is actually for the future of gaming. all the game companies have taken it on board in there new games so if ya really in to games it wouldn't hurt to get one now
PhysX is never used for any graphics. it is only for physics. i wonder why many people are confused about that. maybe because in most e-stores the PhysX card is in the graphics cards section.
"Except from the particles from grenades and flame throwers, it looks pretty much like half life 2 physics (havoc)"
Do your homework, bro. Half-Life 2 runs on the Source Engine, not Havoc. Also, the only thing they're trying to hilight in this video ARE the flamethrower and grenade particle effects. I'm not trying to flame, but please know about your subject before posting.

Actually, Euphoria does that and more. For example, it realistically simulates the breakage of wood, glass, and other materials, as well as regular physics computation. It probably won't display as many physics objects on the screen as PhysX, but I think it does so more realistically.
the card costs too much, it is loud, anyway GF8800 can do that asswell so why bother and spend shit load of money for something that isn't used widely in games, many game Developers use Havok 4.5 now since it is easier to code , and the games run smoothly not as the other titles witch are bloated after some game time using Ageia. Anyway using "Bet on soldier" as a physics demo for the Ageia Card is silly since the game isn't playable, it isn't a 'blockbuster game'

It's not exactly what it's going to be like.

So if you have SLi, you will get PhysX some day.
