@NodDisciple what leader? to get the quest to get in vault 3 you need to go to the drug lab the great khans have there are the only merchants there they will give you the quest they give you a suit that is a faction suit for khans and fiends hopefully won't attack you so ya outside fiends will attack inside will not

@MrGoboka Actually, most of those things where planned as "tests" to see how they would react to different vaults. The "spores" where in the ventilation shafts of Vault 22 and other vaults had flaws for the testing too. One in New Vegas had it's radiation filter hit directly by a Nuclear Missile. Others got guns, but refused the ability to use explosives. Etc. etc.

the history of this vault is that it was made to preserve plants that can survive from artificial lighting and low water but the growing got out of hand and the inhabitants died from inhaling a deadly nerotoxin from the plants.

Vault 101's purpose was only to survive. There were very few Vaults that DID survive because of the fact that they were used to test theories and experiments. For example, Vault 108 was basically to test how a group with proper leadership skills could form from people that had no distinguishable differences.

Since most Vaults were basically made to fail, its no wonder that not many have reasonable inhabitants.
