Damn sure she's trained. And regretfully, this is the sound Broadway expects from singers these days. I'm pretty sure she could have sung this song without the nasal thing, but this is what Broadway sounds like these days.... Andbesides all that I still love Megan :-)

im pretty sure she's classically trained. she SOUNDS it. The resonance in her upper register is a dead give away. Sure, she may have had belting training as well. But I've heard her hit very high pitches dead on. Unless you're a prodigy, you don't just open your mouth and have the note be perfect. That requires training. It would shock the hell out of me if she WASNT classically trained.

I love her interpretation of this song more than any other I've heard. It's very haunting, it's a lot more sad sounding the way she sings it, but I like it better this way, it seems much more personal and emotional that way.

Is the beginning part of the song ("Cathedral bells...") part of "I'll Be Seeing You" as well?

it's "I'll be Seeing you" and it's not from a musical...it's an old jazz standard...I think it might have been sung in the musical "Swing" but it didn't originate there :)

Listen to a couple more of her songs, if her vioce isn't classicly trained then I don't know what is. Her voice is literally perfect.. her vibrato, and pitch and everything. It's incredible.

Plus she's taken voice lessons before.

i have all her albums. Her voice is trained, but not classically trained. In live performances, sometimes she is ever so slightly off key, and her vibrato can get strained at times. No big deal, she's my fave female singer, but her voice is not perfect and she's not classically trained =)

No I believe her voice is classically trained. You can hear that because she creates a lot of space when she sings thus giving her strong vocal resonance.

which is one of the things that musical training teaches... that, combined with the fact that she did musicals before she became as famous as she is now, makes me think that she was trained for musicals, instead of classically.

Megan Mullally was trained for musical theatre (by way of experience before she even started training in fact) rather than classically. The strong vocal resonance and belting is an indication of that rather than of a classic training.
