way back in the day she made this record that was too too too much sickness. she recorded "joanna" with like, chains, and sirens, and... GAH. megan=brilliance.
For all you Megan fans, Megan's last day for Young Frankenstein is August 3rd. The show is fantastic and Megan is awesome! Get your tickets and show your support.
Damn sure she's trained. And regretfully, this is the sound Broadway expects from singers these days. I'm pretty sure she could have sung this song without the nasal thing, but this is what Broadway sounds like these days.... Andbesides all that I still love Megan :-)
im pretty sure she's classically trained. she SOUNDS it. The resonance in her upper register is a dead give away. Sure, she may have had belting training as well. But I've heard her hit very high pitches dead on. Unless you're a prodigy, you don't just open your mouth and have the note be perfect. That requires training. It would shock the hell out of me if she WASNT classically trained.
I was asked to listen to this performance, and give my honest opinion.
It's going to be hard to, and not hurt feelings; and get myself hurt in the process.
My impression of this performance :
Barbra Streisand with nasal congestion!
Please keep an open mind & don't bombard me with hate-mail. If you are honest people, you will allow others an opinion, even if it disagrees with yours - Thats what the freedom you fight for, is all about.
Okay, that's awesome she's your favorite singer. But I have to admit after listening to her voice on the Sweetheart album I just can't believe anyone would say her voice is less than perfect. Honestly it's incredible.
I love her interpretation of this song more than any other I've heard. It's very haunting, it's a lot more sad sounding the way she sings it, but I like it better this way, it seems much more personal and emotional that way.
Is the beginning part of the song ("Cathedral bells...") part of "I'll Be Seeing You" as well?
it's "I'll be Seeing you" and it's not from a musical...it's an old jazz standard...I think it might have been sung in the musical "Swing" but it didn't originate there :)
Listen to a couple more of her songs, if her vioce isn't classicly trained then I don't know what is. Her voice is literally perfect.. her vibrato, and pitch and everything. It's incredible.
i have all her albums. Her voice is trained, but not classically trained. In live performances, sometimes she is ever so slightly off key, and her vibrato can get strained at times. No big deal, she's my fave female singer, but her voice is not perfect and she's not classically trained =)
No I believe her voice is classically trained. You can hear that because she creates a lot of space when she sings thus giving her strong vocal resonance.
which is one of the things that musical training teaches... that, combined with the fact that she did musicals before she became as famous as she is now, makes me think that she was trained for musicals, instead of classically.
Megan Mullally was trained for musical theatre (by way of experience before she even started training in fact) rather than classically. The strong vocal resonance and belting is an indication of that rather than of a classic training.
hey what is she singing i love megan she is so fabulously talented and great....ps people who want this emailed to them just click the share video button and send it to your emails...i know its a delayed response but i jst saw the vid lol
crikey megan rocks...she can sing...she can act...she is so damn talented...im so sad will and grace is off the air *cry* i hoope her talk show comes to aus
This was a great version of the song. (Not as good as Martha Wainwright's version from the Aviator soundtrack). But Megan Mullally is one of my favorit singers.
wow is she amazing or what!! not only is she a fantastic singer but shes a fantastic actress! congrats 2 her for winning her 2nd emmy. she deserved it! luv carly xoxo
Fantastic voice.. Many Thanks for sharing! Megan has a certain Barbra Streisand quality to her voice, very clear, pitch perfect and powerful. Go girl!
Oh, God - she is just soo fabulous! I really REALLY love her. I would really apreciate it, if one of you would send this video to me, too.. miss_sulle@hotmail.com ... If not, then that's okay, but I would really like to have it!
God. She's amazing. I think about her Karen character and my heart breaks for how unvelieable her singing voice is. Honestly. Fucking incredible.
