  • And by a long time I mean the gun might just outlive you ;).

  • Also with regard to the hex pin and the frame cracking, as long as you use 115 grain FMJ the gun should last for a long time...there was a P1 dealer who sold many non-pinned P1's and not a single customer has reported a cracked frame and this was a good while ago too! Dont worry about it, one cracked frame doesnt speak for all.

  • I picked up a Post War P38 made in 62 for $400 marked BW and all. I agree that Winchester white box 115 grain ammo is the way to go! Love my gun and I hope you love yours too!

  • Man it is awesome! But I really got Swiss Flu and SKS Fever right now :( lol. Such fine rifles and so much fun. P-1 is close to my door for self defense though that's for damn sure.

  • @bber45 Glad you like it! JG Sales has good prices on SKS's

  • I have been doing some reading and it seems that Winchester White Box 115gr FMJ 9mm seems to be the ammo that most people recommend for this pistol. I bought a box and went out and shot my pistol. It shot better than I could hope for. According to the forums, if you use this ammo, the pistol should last a long long time. And it shoots very accurately through mine.

  • From what I understand the P1's with the hex pins in them are ok with +P ammunition, the ones with out the pins are susceptible to cracking through there, whether you shoot 9mm or 9mm +P ammo. Do you know anything about this?

  • @oneyeopn I've looked but can't find any confirmation on this one way or the other. I just heard the hex pin was added as a prevention to the frame cracking from excessive use. I think I'm going to just play it safe and stick with standard 9mm. Anyone else have any further info on this??

  • very nice! I pick mine up tomorrow. Its a P-1 1981 West German comes with original holster, two bran new mags, booklet and original box. All for about 320$ pretty stoked about it. I hope its a good shooter like yours is :)

  • @bber45 That's a really good deal, have fun with it! They are a really easy gun to shoot, I love mine!

  • @bber45 So how is it? :-)

  • For the same price range, More Guns Supply in Manitoba sent me just the gun with one mag. No cleaning kit, no second mag. Cheap! I'm gonna write them. We'll see what they say.

  • How does $363 out the door sound for the gun itself with all the upgrades (hex bolt, fat slide) and only 1 mag, nothing else? (I think I have the importer to blame for that)

  • @pavewackets That sounds pretty reasonable.

  • @FargoMarc Thanks; joining the P1 club later this week then.

  • I just got one from AIM Surplus its a 1965 and rebuilt in 75 it looks new but it dont have the hex pin either.Hope it shoots ok.

  • @bionicbaer I'm sure it'll shoot fine, mine was smooth as butter, right out of the box. For the price I wouldn't mine picking up another one. Happy shooting!! :-)

  • I've read that Federal EFMJs should feed okay in this gun. Was wanting this gun, but knew only that FMJs should only be used, then I found out EFMJs should work in this gun. Nice gun for the range, but would be nice as a secondary home defense gun too if it can take EMFJs.

  • @Commiefornia Thanks for the tip. I'm going to pick up some EFMJ's and experiment next time I hit the range. I'll let you know (though it may be a while!)!

  • @FargoMarc Yeah check out the Federal EFMJs. Unfortunate they're the only ones that make it. I guess they own the patent or exclusive license. :-( Post a range report when you can.

Been thinking about getting this because it's going to be "off list" next year in Commiefornia and don't know if the importers are going to renew the applications along with the fees...stupid Commiefornia gun laws.

  • @Commiefornia I'll definitely try the EFMJ's next time I hit the range, I'm quite intrigued now. I think you'll really like the P-1, I recommend it to anyone who wants a good reliable shooter at a fair price.

  • did you only have to use your C&R license or did you have to use ffl for this gun?

  • @gunitup234 C&R license. I guess there was a recent change of regulations and there are now C&R eligible! :-)

  • Really wanted one of these, but just didn't have enough...needed something that would be a better CHL gun, so got the P64 instead
