It's so funny that I found this Beatles song right now. I've been suicidally depressed for 4 years now and just three weeks ago, insomnia hit. Can't sleep. So fucking tired, but I can't sleep. I try to force it, but you can't force sleep. When I do sleep, it's shitty, horrible sleep and I wake up a few hours later feeling like I never fell asleep with intense piercing thoughts of suicide... Don't know whether or not it's the end for me. I hope not. I love life.

Uh, John stated that similar to I'm Only Sleeping, this song's about having insomnia. In the case of I'm So Tired, he was at a meditation camp and unable to sleep due to doing it so much. He was also pining for Yoko (who was his soon-to-be-wife at the time),

"i'm so tired i don't know what do, i'm so tired my mind is set on you, i wonder should i call you but i know what you would do" etc.... it's about being in love and not knowing whether the other person loves you back which can lead to "going insane" and having insomnia (trust me, i've been there and its not pretty!)
