@fm3tttraceclan you can definitely turbo a sohc. That has nothing to do with it. neither does vtec. stock for stock S ingle O ver H ead C am and D ual O ver H ead C am are about the same perfomance. If you don't know what a cam is, i suggest looking it up somewhwere else because i wont go into depth here, although it is what determines how much the valves open thus letting more fuel in. Just about anything can be turbo'd. Its just that sohc takes more to get good performance value.

I got a Nissan S14A now, and I got 155 HP, and 28 MPG, and if I was to add a JDM Turbo kit, with good tuning, I would have 225 at least with still 26 MPG.

You can do that with anything but Civic's are popular because performance parts are EVERYWHERE and power to weight is in your favor. Second off it's about personal taste. That's why a lot buy Corvettes over an R35 despite the fact that the Corvette is slower for similar price.
@60SecondAssassin1 R35? like a new GTR? you know they don't sell for sticker price right? more like twice sticker price, and a base, 431hp, 0-60 in 4.3sec Vette can still be picked up for the 40k cash price its held for the last 15 years. For the price of the GTR you can get a much better vette. With the greatest suspension ever put in a car. GTR is nothing compared to a Vette, those cars are suppose to be driven, not just drag raced. Also, bare in mind the vette gets a tranny warranty.

@tim4g63fast Just like the Chevrolets and Fords and all them other Domestics. I used to own a Jeep, I liked it, then realism kicked in. I got 255 HP, and its getting 5 MPG. Bullshit. I got a Nissan S14A now, and I got 155 HP, and 28 MPG, and if I was to add a JDM Turbo kit, with good tuning, I would have 225 at least with still 26 MPG.

I dont even think there are any turbochargers manufactured in japan. lol in fact garrett, holset, pte are some of the biggest and most sucessful turbo mfgers around and they are all US companies. JDM has became a ricer term associated with just about everything shitty but believed to be quality, a term used to sell garbage to stupid kids. There are companies called JDM performance, JDMpower, JDMrice, or whatever its being called. But to call something a JDM turbo kit is like saying you Need to buy a USA turbo kit.

This video was filmed on the 26psi. And Yes, this SOHC was UNDEFEATED at the local HD street races. it was the EVO / SRT slanger!!

you must have a dx trans, i used to have a sohc vtec turbo in my coupe at 16psi i hit 5th gear at 7200rpm with an si trans prolly about 153 and that was scary, i couldnt imagine doing 175 in my civic if anything happens you are dead

@redghost105 First off a lot of people like to modify their cars and not just buy some shit from the factory stock. It's about moding and tuning your car seeing the best you can do with what you got. You can do that with anything but Civic's are popular because performance parts are EVERYWHERE and power to weight is in your favor. Second off it's about personal taste. That's why a lot buy Corvettes over an R35 despite the fact that the Corvette is slower for similar price.

For the price of the GTR you can get a much better vette. With the greatest suspension ever put in a car. GTR is nothing compared to a Vette, those cars are suppose to be driven, not just drag raced. Also, bare in mind the vette gets a tranny warranty.

Congrads!!! 170+ in a civic is scary it probably took some time and lots of effort to do this . how is the MPG ??? Street racing for life ! Back in the days I used to have a 85 z25 and never took it over 150 but it tool me half a tank of gas and 2 quarts of oil not to green . Mad props . Hopefully get my license back so i can do it too and i want a civic also :)
