I feel bad for Huet. He was known more for his bad then his good which he had a lot of! A Chicago Tribune article said Huet was the No.1 until late march. After he let 7 Goals againt Columbus after the game coach Q told him Niemi is now No.1

huet is a good goalie. a lot of what happened to him was not his fault, the team had its moments of playing horrible in front of him. the press made a mess of him and because of the contract he was given he was expected to play like a Roy or Brodeur. niemi in my eyes was another khabibulin his saves looked spectacular and the team won,but he left in the softest goals ever and an announcer even made the comment that his pads were like trampolines.

@DecapitatedDoctor really? thats funny because marty turco came from the dallas stars and niemi and turco had almost identical numbers the entire season despite turco playing for argueably the wort defense in the national hockey league. above all this. it is a law of nature that if you have defense and speed, a goalie who can stand on his head is NOT necessary to win a stanley cup.

@awsears94 As a professional though I'm not sure how much he likes going to practice every morning and having to dress up for games only to sit there to watch and knowing full well that everyone in Chicago probably hates him right now since he's a big part of their cap problem. Getting your name on the Cup is nice and all but there isn't much he can talk about when people ask since he didn't do a single thing to earn it.

@dafinalone you're wrong. he did a hell of a lot to earn it. huet was the #1 goalie through the better half of the regular season and earned the hawks that #2 seed, giving them home ice advantage when it counted. no matter wht he did in the playoffs, he did his job in the regular season

@nordicaproductions He was the #1 goalie through the 1st half of the season because Niemi was never given the chance until Feb although in Nov Huet played amazing I admit. In the other months though, he was average at best. And in March, he was plain horrible. no he didn't earn the team the #2 seed, the gifted offensive and defensive whose GF & GA difference is only behind the Caps did. A 0.895 sv % is not a trait of a good goalie, especially on a stacked team.

@nordicaproductions And sorry to tell you, doing your job in the regular season doesn't mean anything if you can't bring home what matters the most, the Cup. Nabby did his job and then some during the regular season every year but still got criticized because he tanked in the playoffs, and look where he is now. The Flyers didn't make the playoffs til their last game, but made it count when it mattered and pushed all the way to the finals. By the way, the Hawks won every series on the road.
