Oh OK, get a long target stick (really long) and reach across your horses back (he cant be afraid of it, right!?) and have him target it with his nose. His hind end will start to step towards it so you have to be careful for your feet. Click, step behind him (you said he was safe, right?) and have him step towards you to get his treat. Try that a couple times and get back to me. He has to be safe with new things and ok with you behind his hind end, otherwise don't do this.
The part where both ponies turned around in opposite dierstions at 3:50. I really liked that, and would like to know how to teach that to my horse. I am big into trick training. My horse loves them!
Loved the video. I think this type of training engages the horses' minds. It makes them think. Wonderful way to stimulate your ponies/horses. It's fun but there are other benefits. Thanks.
These are registered "miniature horses." The registry is called the AMHA. The taller one has a more "classic horse" look, but they're both registered with the AMHA because of their height (less than 34" at the withers). Glad you like them :-)
I taught these tricks using a method popularly called "clicker training." It's lots of fun and the horses really love to train this way. Check it out on google, there are lots of places to learn about it :-)
Mary Ann is a dear lady. She gave me permission to use her song for this video. I heard she was going to do a song about minis...maybe she'll use WeeBee as inspiration? There are 2 minis in this video, one is a smaller bay, the other just a really dark brown. Which one does WeeBee look like?
Yes, I have listened to her new song and it is AWESOME! One of my favorites... yes she used Wee Bee, Spit, and Smokey as Inspiration as she told me (all minis). Wee Bee looks like the dark brown one :)
Thanks! Actually, using the clicker makes training horses very fun and easy. The only thing I see is that sometimes people have trouble looking for the GOOD things that the horse is doing.

The bushy mane is McKee. He's wearing the light scarf. The darker one wearing green is Handsome. They're both cheeky, smart and a blast to work with.
Thanks for your comments! Say hi to Mary Ann for me.
