  • Oh OK, get a long target stick (really long) and reach across your horses back (he cant be afraid of it, right!?) and have him target it with his nose. His hind end will start to step towards it so you have to be careful for your feet. Click, step behind him (you said he was safe, right?) and have him step towards you to get his treat. Try that a couple times and get back to me. He has to be safe with new things and ok with you behind his hind end, otherwise don't do this.

  • The part where both ponies turned around in opposite dierstions at 3:50. I really liked that, and would like to know how to teach that to my horse. I am big into trick training. My horse loves them!

  • HEY. That move at 3:50. Howd you do that!

  • LOVE IT

  • awsome

  • What a cute video! The rhythm of the music is right in time with your actions. Very effective.

  • cute my friend knows your friend lorrie ballard & she went to go work with you one day :D

  • @rhrg1 I'll bet I know the "friend" too! Nice to meet you....thanks for dropping by.

  • @Peggasus09

    Your very welcome :)

  • Loved the video. I think this type of training engages the horses' minds. It makes them think. Wonderful way to stimulate your ponies/horses. It's fun but there are other benefits. Thanks.

  • Yes Janet...you've got it....there are more benefits than can even be listed here on YouTube.

Sounds like you've had experience clicker training horses; that's fantastic. Best of luck to you!

  • SOOOO CUTE!!! what breed are they??! they are SOO CUTE!

  • These are registered "miniature horses." The registry is called the AMHA. The taller one has a more "classic horse" look, but they're both registered with the AMHA because of their height (less than 34" at the withers). Glad you like them :-)

  • Your ponies are adorable! You and your ponies just made my day =]

  • Thanks...I just want to show how much people can do with TRUE positive reinforcement.

  • Adorable! 5*

  • Thanks :-)

  • That's amazing! Really cute ponies!! Aww! That was just so cute!! :D nice job!!

  • aww your ponys are sooo cute!!!

i love it when the one of them is sitting on this beanback XD

how do you learn them this tricks???

    its really amazing!

i want to teach this to my horse too =)

  • I taught these tricks using a method popularly called "clicker training." It's lots of fun and the horses really love to train this way. Check it out on google, there are lots of places to learn about it :-)

  • Love this video! Those bandannas on them are so cute!

  • Thanks! It was fun to do.

  • Cutest ever!

  • I loved the two pony finale at the end! Really beautiful! Stellar training! You can tell those ponies are having a blast.

  • Cute!! I know Mary Ann (she is my neighbor) lol. That mini-pony of yours looks EXACTLY like my mini-pony... his name is Wee Bee :)

  • Mary Ann is a dear lady. She gave me permission to use her song for this video. I heard she was going to do a song about minis...maybe she'll use WeeBee as inspiration? There are 2 minis in this video, one is a smaller bay, the other just a really dark brown. Which one does WeeBee look like?

  • Yes, I have listened to her new song and it is AWESOME! One of my favorites... yes she used Wee Bee, Spit, and Smokey as Inspiration as she told me (all minis). Wee Bee looks like the dark brown one :)

  • The bushy mane is McKee. He's wearing the light scarf. The darker one wearing green is Handsome. They're both cheeky, smart and a blast to work with.

Thanks for your comments! Say hi to Mary Ann for me.

  • That is fantastic. Very cute.

  • Thanks so much; the horses and minis alike are so willing with positive reinforcement.

    Enjoy!

  • Loved your video. I have her cd and looked her up on You Tube and found this. How delightful!

  • very cute

  • this is so cute, is it difficult to train a horse using the clicker methods?

  • Thanks! Actually, using the clicker makes training horses very fun and easy. The only thing I see is that sometimes people have trouble looking for the GOOD things that the horse is doing.

  • Great! How many horses do you have?

  • thanks! I've got 2 full sized and 3 minis. That's why I love this song so much. Mary Ann Kennedy sure got this one right!
