It's unlikely that '24' will continue once Bauer is killed off...but not impossible. You could create a totally new atmosphere with lots and lots of new characters, and a few old ones, like Chloe [But she might die next season :( ]. It wouldn't be the same...but that doesn't mean it would automatically suck...if they did it right, they could make a REALLY DAMN GOOD season without Jack. I mean, not EVERY season with Jack has been totally awesome (Season 6), just most of 'em, ha.

Based on the plot of Season 8, which involves a Peace gathering between U.S. and a Middle-East country...if they suceed, (it's VERY hard to fail when you recruit a man who has saved the country and THE WORLD [Season 2] more then once, within as little as 10 hours.

So, I can't really think of a realistic 'Day 9' crisis...the first idea that pops into mind would be stopping a terrorist-ish serial killer, maybe? Well, I'm no Robert Cochran or Howard Gordan, etc...we'll just have to

Exactly, some spin-offs do really well (NCIS: Los Angeles, Stargate, Star Trek, Angel, CSI; New York) while others don't do so well (CSI: Miami, Lone Gunmen which is a spin-off of X-Files).

But if Howard Gordon & Jon Cassar both did a new spin-off of 24 with Renee Walker, it might be huge.

Now, if it had a character from previous season of 24 then it would be cancelled since non-fans wouldn't be attracted to it & 24 fans might not want anymore closure on it.
