Your vains are not full of blood, but hydraulic fuel! absolutely monsteres grip and a inspiration for me, not fully able to do my first rep on a coc 2...:/
Seeing this I feel even more how far I am from my goal, by summer CoC #2,5.
I am starting grip training a bit old, I didnt even know its existence, I like it, I used to have fairly strong hands when young was climbing but then left and never did manual work (just writing...) so it was all from ground zero when started end 2008. I think manual workers have a starting advantage but others can catch up at some point. I close CoC# 1,5 and I am beyond parallel on #2. Is age an important issue?
Age doesn't matter. Age can even be an advantage at some points. Grip strength is a slow process, considering what kind of strength you really need. Forearm size won't matter - tendon and ligament-strength will! But since tendons and ligaments require such an amount of time to completely restitute from training... the more patience you have, the better long-time gains you will get. So not only should you train hard, but keep an eye out for overreaching, or you won't get the results you're after.
I agree with the rest and I understand age here matters less than in other sports involving compound movements (obviously). But it still has to matter a bit: average hand strength decreases a bit with age and obviously you can't think of improvements in strength over say 60 or 65 yo, there's got to be a point when it's late. Maybe the advantage you talk about is if you started training grip young, hand strength often really picks up at more mature age, so I read. Patience yes increases with age
thats so true ! im only 16 and i can close my no3 and almost my 3.5 with my Chocker on it you can watch my video if you want. And yes you must be patient with grip training !
Not to worry, age won't affect it one bit. At first I wish I would've started earlier but now I don't even think about it, all I think about now is closing the #3. Good luck with your training.
how long have you been training your grip? Very impressive strength obviously. Also do you have large hands? I notice most people who can close a 3+ have large hands.
Thanks. I started grip training very early, I've been training grip in some form about 12 years alltogether, last 3 years have been very intense specialization on grip.
I don't have large hands, they are smaller than average. :)
I just accidentally removed someones comment asking a question about something like if small hands are a disadvantage, will I be able to do anything with #1 or something like that. No, small hands are not a disadvantage, as you can set the gripper handles closer before you start the squeeze..also without any background information about the person who asked it is difficult to say which gripper is the best to begin with. For most men it is #1 I think.
it was me. much appreciated thanks for the advice. I dont train but have seen many folk here on youtube closing those grippers. I mentioned it to a guy I know and he said he i have no chance as i have hands like a kid lol. I have huge forearms naturally and hoping somehow they will help.
Oi, that was nuts... now, i know you probably don't wanna share your training program, and your secrets, but.. do you use wrist rolls, pinch grips, etc. included in your excercises? :)
Amazing stuff!

Wow, I never realized how wide the spread on CoC's really is...Great closes, btw...
unauthorizedentry01 3 years ago
yeah they're alot wider than Heavy Grips
evanescence2 3 years ago
Yeah, the biggest spread on my HG's is my 150, which is about 2.8in, every thing else is around 2.5-2.7. If you wanna see a MASSIVE
spread, look up some of Warren's original grippers. The spreads had to be over 3.5in, and they were steel handles with no knurling!

Btw, are you on gripboard yet?

ewokhugo 4 years ago
Thanks but I don't want to find an easy #4. Regular one I have is my goal.
TeemuI 4 years ago
Thanks guys.
#4 still needs more work.
I try to train every aspect of grip, pinch, support, crush, wrists, everything equally and total body as well.
There are no "secrets and secret training programs". Basic, progressive hard work brings results. :)
TeemuI 4 years ago
Yeahh there is no such thing like "secret or secret traning programs." All you guys need to do is practice and hard working
