  • my great-grandfather won one of these rifles in a shooting competition back when this rifle was brand new.. three generations later, and it still puts food on the plate

  • I think I have everyone beat I have 3 510's #1 510 Routledge bore (.22 crimped shotshell). #2 510 standard .22 s/l/lr. Both inherited from my father and I will kill to keep. #3 I found in the mid 90's for $60 a 510X currently wearing a 3x9x40 scope and can fire 1/2" groups at 50 yards all day with CCI Blazers. I'm sure I can tighten that up with a little trigger job, breaks like glass but stiff maybe 6lb pull.

  • And sorry about that first post here the words "lady sedentary" were supposed to say "left side"

  • Where with this single shot bolt action the gas has nowhere to go so in this type of gun in any caliper there is goin to be more force behind the bullet giving it its fullest potential.

  • I recently got a model 510 from my grandmother. There is no SN on the gun all I can find is on the lady sedentary right in front of the firing mechanicism is a "pk 4" I think this is the date code but candidate fi d anything about it. From my knowledge about guns this is one if the most accurate 22's ever made because it is a single shot bolt action. Unlike a semi auto where some of the gas from the explosion of gunpowder is used to force the bolt back to eject and reload the gun.

  • i love mine

  • I have a review of this ;-)

  • hey is that the original bolt? cuz i have the same rifle and its been past down for three generations to me and mine's bolt isn't shiny like that one. its the same color as the barrel.

  • @Mrturkeyhunter100 I'm sure your bolt is original. I have 2 510's that I inherited from my father. #1 is a standard 510 rifle like the video with the same shiny bolt handle. #2 Is a 510 routledge smoothbore (first 12" smoothbore .22 last 12" .410 with shotgun bead sight) designed to fire the original crimped .22 lr shot cartridge, this one has the older blued bolt. My father got the smoothbore as a kid in the early 40's and bought the rifle in 1964. Info I have is the 510 was not made after 62.

  • mine was made in august 1941. WK is my code. Remington targetmaster 510s were made from 1939 to 1962. so you might be accurate.

  • how can you tell what year the remington 510 targetmaster was made?

  • my late dad had one of these he bought one new in the late 40’s or early 50’s & it is the most accurrate 22 rifle i now own.my dad payed $6.00 for it new! i do wish things were still made this good.i just wanted to share this info to everyone who remembers rifles of this wonderful era.thanks!

  • hey i got one 510 bolt action come and look at my shooting

  • saw one of these at the gunshop today for 100 bucks. probably going to go back and get it, i love the look of it and have always wanted a single shot .22

  • This fine little gun was used at the rifle range at Camp Grizzly, Idaho - and possibly many other Boy Scout camps - to teach riflemanship. I recall that it was there for the entire 7 years that I was a Scout and later on camp staff. After my last year on staff, they sold all the guns for $5.00. The year was about 1965. They told me that the gun had fired about 1 million rounds, and they were upgrading to new guns. With the long barrel it is extremely accurate.

  • My two brothers & I were raised in the country, on a farm, and these rifles were what our father allowed us to use before ANY multiple shot firearms. I thank him to this day! He made better marksmen for it....

  • I have a 510 target master that was built in july of 1949, orginal condition and is super accurate! purchased it for $130 got a heck of a deal, i love it

  • Not a loaded chamber indicator. It shows the condition of the firing pin, cocked or not.

  • Hey, I have the original 1939 version, and it still works perfectly. I fixed it up recently, because it was my grandfather's, and he used it a lot as a kid. It's accuracy is perfect, and it works great. One of the best rifles I have.

  • A friend of mine had a beat up 510 in the back of his closet. Bolt handle was broken off. I used a .22 casing as a replacement and started shooting it. It was incredibly accurate. If you ever run across one of these, try to buy it, they are excellent rifles.

  • hey man i have the same gun kind of. its a model 510. i found a chart very helpful in explaining when it was made. the cost of these guns now are around $200-$250. good luck and happy shooting.

i will message you the link for the chart sinc youtube wont let you put it in comments

  • The gun was manufactured from 1939-1962. I got one and I love it.

  • i have this same gun, i have no idea how old it is i got it from my step father who just passed away in september.. its got a little bit of rust on the barrel any idea how i could get it off?

  • @xxxtsnowman420xxx try some good gun oil, and a brass brush, just make sure whateever you use to scrub the barrel with is softer than steel so you dont scuff it up. If you look hard on the left side of the rifle way down where the barrel meets the chamber you 'll find two letters, those two letters are your code for the year and date of manufacture.

  • @TheMatt1911 cool thanks man

  • @xxxtsnowman420xxx its an accurate, great little rifle, maybe my favorite in my collection, one that i'll always have and take care of, i hope you enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine

  • i know how to tell the year but you have to disassemble the rifle. what i mean is loosen the screw that holds the barrel on the stock and reply with the 3 letters that are right in front of the bolt/ receiver

  • @edwards5308 - If you're offering... mine is stamped P 31 with a stamp between the P and the 31 that is indistinguisable...

  • @xxxtsnowman420xxx best thing to use for rust removal would be some triple 000 steel wool that will remove the rust and polish the steel

  • I have seen a few of those at the Collector's over the years. Great gun shop by the way. It reminds me of the Savage Model 110 single-shot manual cock that I bought several years back. The stock iron sights were limiting the accuracy of the rifle so I took them off and mounted a scope on the dovetail. Just a cheap-ass scope, nothing fancy. I would have to say that that little savage is my most accurate .22LR rifle right now. I paid less than $100 at the Collector's

  • Nice little rifle there! Keep up the videos.

  • @ItalianBostonian Thanks, more videos are in the works
