Well in SMG2, initially you find yoshi as his normal color: green. The only time in the game where you can change his color is when you grab either a dash pepper, blimp berry, or the glimmer bulb berry. As for mario's power-ups, there are some from the original such as the bee mushroom, boo mushroom, fire flower, spring mushroom, and the rainbow star. There are some new power-ups, such as the cloud mushroom and the rock mushroom. If anyone has anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled Yoshi return and gets 3 other special forms:

Orange- Walks up steep inclines and is speedy

Light Blue- Inflates into a balloon

Yellow- Glows at the ghosts

But hopefully we get all the Yoshi colors maybe they'd be like this:

Red- Heat Resistant

Blue- Ice Breath

Black- Can create a Mario shadow to distract enemies

etc.
