  • whrL ? Thats my name ahah :D

  • @whrLL Funny. "Way Huge Red Llama"

  • im currently building this. just finished painting. did a crap job on it though :/

  • @neutron54 Painting is tough. When I build them for others, I don't bother because of the hassle.

  • @jwyatt4 now that i look back on it, the painting isnt that bad. anyway, i love this pedal. its my favorite one i own. sounds like an overdrive from heaven

  • This is one great stomp box!! Can`t wait to get mine.

  • @sk8erHyde13: It's fun stuff for sure. I'm always looking forward to the next build.

  • @vetzaaak I can get a little talkative. I'm trying to explain all I can and show versatility. The camera mic is cheap. I've got a Q3 now that sounds a ton better but lacks in vid quality. Eventually, I'll make shorter demos with that and talk less :)

  • @jwyatt4

Just a suggestion ofcourse, but when I finally get around doing some demos of my stuff I plan on just using audio recorded with my apogee duet and sm57. Don't need a camera to show a pedal sitting still for 5 minutes. I'd just add text at the bottom to explain what settings ae being used...

  • nice tone, that would sound great going through a cool cat vibe pedal

  • @PhuckHue2 I imagine it would too. I like this pedal because it's different. Dirtier than a clean boost but not too fuzzy like some distortions.

  • Do you think this would sound good driving a Muff?

  • @Yaanon It would certainly create more saturation. It would also work well on the other side of the BMP as a kind of booster instead of a driver.

  • Hi, I need some help. The only thing that works is the LED. I double check all the connections but I dont get whts wrong. Could be the IC?

  • @AntonioCavicchioni I had the same problem you did with two kits from GGG.(You think I would have learned after troubleshooting the first one). One of the solder tabs on the input or output jacks was coming in contact with the back plate on the bottom of the pedal causing it to ground out. Being that your post was 9 months ago, I'm sure you've long since fixed it, but this is more for other people with the same issue. Next time I build one I'll keep that in mind for sure!

  • This is one of the best pedals ever. Way Huge should re-issue it.

It is a distortion pedal that borders on fuzz when both of the knobs are cranked and you use a Strat or Tele on either the neck or the bridge pickup.

What happens though is that the pedal gets real animated when long notes are held and sustained. You can get a cleaner sound by turning down the gain control but it is still loud and good sounding. But it is still animated.

  • Yeah...cool pedal for sure. I believe 'Way Huge' was bought by Dunlop and all the pedals are mass produced now. I've seen them at GC and other places.

  • so do you think it would be possible to put this into a guitar directly instead of a stomp box?

  • Believe me, stranger things have been done. There is a bit of figuring to do though. You'll need enough space for a battery, the board, an extra switch, and extra pots for the volume and drive. You could get creative and tie the drive to your guitar's volume knob...might want to consider a mini-toggle for gain stages or something like that too. There is more than one way to skin this cat...but it is certainly possible. Keep in mind the wiring will be different than the diagram for the pedal.

  • Wow, what a sound! and for $45 no less!!

I "summarily destroyed" the 2.1mm DC jack on the pedal I'm working on right now.

    5 stars, sir!

  • Ha! It'll happen. I, too, am impressed with the quality of these kits for the price. They are well-thought-out and tested before hand too. Thanks for the stars.

  • I've been using an EHX LPB-1 set at unity gain behind ALL my dirt pedals. It's amazing what it does to every one of them!! Does this one do a similar trick? I'd like to find something to fill that role that won't sound like butt by itself =D

  • Yes. The cool thing about the WHRL is it won't sound bad on it's own. Therefore it is more versatile. Might I also suggest the consideration of a JOAM for the same purpose. I built one about five years ago and I have traditionally used it to overdrive my dirty channel for soloing (killer tone!). The problem I ran into was the setting for this purpose was too much for use behind my dirt pedals. This is why I began the use of the WHRL for that purpose. GGG will be providing JOAM kits soon.

  • I've done a little searching, but I can't find out what a JOAM is. Care to elaborate?
