If you want to see REAL good dogs, yes look at Tiekerhook, look at Saltzblick, even some Wienbergblick dogs are very nice. Ben-Ju dogs tend to be nice, as well as Policia dogs. Mmmmm, some of those are good!
If a GSD has roaching or over angulation as far as 3 generations back I will throw it from my program. Yoshy I dont like, Fero I dont like, and yes because of physical makeup. A GSD is a total dog. You cant have function without form. I've actually yet to meet ANY show line GSD's I like. Again thats just me, not saying they cant work I'm sure they can (heck you can even get White GSD's to do Sch) but to me they are not breed worthy and shouldnt be Kkl.
American and German show lines are to blame for some faults. I'm very biast I will admit, but I favor the Czech working lines. I'm exceedingly picky when it comes to GSD's and yes I dont pick dogs with any roaching or extreme angulation. Roaching is the result of a faulty shoulder alignment, where the shoulder doesnt slope properly. I have seen extremes and easy slopes, but I am not a fan of it. I dont care what titles a dog has backing it, or how good its drive is.
Ime sorry but thats the way the german shepherd is now the topline has evolved and thats how german shepherds are so if you like flat back german shepherds then thats your choice but my mum and dad have been breeding since 1992 and they should know whats good and bad for our breed.

You did have pictures of working line dogs...working so no one is seeing their top line. The majority of show lines also do not have as much intensity or courage in their work either. Oh yeaa i completley agree that the majority are not and that is because the dogs are lazy but breed dogs are actually good workers like any dog if you start with them early enough they will get the taste for it.
Good point which shows one thing though...if you don't use it, you lose it...which applies to show or working lines. @mariahkoskinas current german shepherds are topline!?!?! clearly not when every other pet german shepherd has hip problems by the age of like 9 and show line german shepherds bred for the pet market are scared and likely to bite because they are scared, im getting a working bloodline as a pet and maybe going to work it, until more working ones are bred they wont be at there topline, these show ones are scared, thats not what a german shepherd should be like at all
@mariahkoskinas no offense but they need to get back to the basics of what Captain Max Von Stephanitz started out with. sloping topline and "floating hips" are not good for the breed no matter what anyone says. My 15 mo Pohranicni Straze line GSD will run circles around any show dog all day long and look good doing it.

The real German Shepherd is a large dog with lots of muscles and no slopping hips. This is the dog that the German captain had in mind.
