I was also at this show at Humphrey's in San Diego.. In addition to Peter White's triumphant return on the guitar, Basia told a story about her first visit to the US: Her first album Time and Tide had been released, so they booked a huge tour for her and she didn't know what to expect.. Well, she landed here and they whisked her to Humphrey's for her first US concert, and she came out on stage, and was welcomed with a standing ovation. She said "From Now On" I'm going to love the US", lol
Touring the Med in 1987-88 onboard the USS Turner - I woke to hearing the tape in port in Naples Italy, then it played all the way through Palma De Malorca Spain, then on to Toulon France. talk about int'l feel. Made the duty that much more enjoyable and the feel was of the world. I will never forget that and each time I hear the music it takes me back.
I was there!... I saw this!!!!... gosh, it was such a magical time for me, best concert ever. Basia, when am I going to see you again????? You sign like the angels.
I saw her a month ago in Anaheim CA. She was Awesome! Met her and Danny White after the show. She was outside just meeting fans, So was the most pleasant person giving hugs, taking pictures and doing autographs. What a perfect evening!
Back in the early 90s Basia came to play in Portland OR and Peter White, a friend of mine, was on the tour. He kindly invited myself and Henry to attend the concert and meet early back stage. I remember sitting laughing w/ Peter and Henry when someone came into the green room and sat behind me. Soon we were bumping heads as we laughed. When I turned to apologize? Peter said 'Trisha, may I introduce you to Basia'? I saw it was she who sat behind me. A more gracious lady I've never meet than her!
I was in San Diego at this concert. Basia has gotten even better!! Great performance. Back up singers are wonderful as well. Danny White and other musicians shined! Peter White was a great addition to the evening. I was able to see Basia again last night at Anthology in San Diego. Thank you for wonderful memories!!
Just returned from the Dallas, Texas concert - Nov. 9, 2010 - and it was a great time. The band and backup vocals are world class. Unfortunately, the historic Lakewood Theater just can't keep up with such talent. I would love to see them in a top notch performance hall!
So very talented, mellow, strong, passionate, and sincere all at once! Spectacular. But does anyone else out there think her accent is getting stronger when speaking or has she simply spent so much time back in Poland that it naturally rubs off. Can't wait to see her at B.B. King's this November. Stay strong Basia.
Merci ;) un vrai plaisir de la retrouver, en Europe hélas on n'en entend pas parler, dommage, ne savais même pas qu'elle avait sorti un CD en 2009, vu cela sur son site.
A friend from Poland told me about Basia and now, I love her music too. She's very good indeed. Thanks for your participation, in that concert, Peter.
Hi PW... Thank you so much for sharing this!!!! You know that I'm a big fan of hers.... I'm bummed that they didn't make it to Seattle this time. But what a great treat for the people at Humphrey's, that you were able to join the band for a few songs!!
Basia said it perfectly when she said that you made that song! DB :)
