  • Clearly he missed it because the other team were out too far.

  • Why did they black flag him for that??

  • @DarudeF1 Driving the wrong way up pit lane.

  • didnt button do the same thing but forwards?

  • strange to see ferrari with out malboro or shell

  • Typical of Mansell... only blind english fanboys can think Mansell was a great driver. He was as fast as dumb.

  • @rodcb2011 Fanboys include Williams and Ferrari presumably. Stop talking shit.

  • @rodcb2011 only your opinion dickhead, mansell was revered in many countries for his skill and honesty. senna regarded him as his biggest threat so what does that tell you Mr knows shit about anything ?

  • Did anyone realize he went to the wrong garage and wrong pit crew?

  • Murray Walker

  • back when people didn't care about health and safety.

  • @spoonshine91 what tha?? man remeber Senna who die because the "people didnt care about health and safety" but i understand your ´´Back those days´´

  • The Pit Crew; no Helmets, no fire suits and no fireman standing ready. Yikes! The good ol days :-)

  • Only Nigel.

  • Re-fueling was banned... so.. it's stubby shorts and short sleeved shirts all round for the pit crews :)

  • Why aren't they wearing safety things? Every living thing and even boxes know how dangerous shorts n shirts there is!

  • @lifethelifetoday

    That were the old days.

Safety was not introduced until 1994/1995.

  • @Sokra01 What took them over 70 years?

  • @lifethelifetoday

The same reason why they drove with aluminium-chassis until the 1980th.

    It wasn´t seen as nessesary.

  • I cant believe what I'm seeing, SHORTS AND T-SHIRTS..

  • The only race Minardi led.

  • @blainyrules i think Verstappen led a race for minardi not very long ago. i think they gambled on wets and everybody was on slicks and he had a monster lead until they stopped the race for safety reasons. maybe 6 or 7 years ago.

  • @zabraoota He actually did not lead a race, he won friday qualifing at the French GP 2003, when he was the only one with his teammate to use dry tyres on fast drying track

  • retroceso?

  • nice to see what they wear.... tshirt and normal trousers.... ;)

  • The Fast Stupid, like Piquet said...

  • So an F1-car has a reverse gear, now, that's new

  • @wimpiedimpie nah its not new at all, and they still got it

  • 1989 Portuguese Brand Prix ???

  • Mansell's love affair with the Estoril pit lane begins...

  • Martini in the lead in a Minardi?

  • @sparkidee Exactly! The best race in the history of minardi

  • He should have just run down his crew and he wouldnt have got penalised

  • I didn't even know F1 cars had reverse gear. Maybe I was thinking about planes.

  • Nice times... i wanna live in this time,... true cars, true pilots, nothing of FIA

  • Can somebody say to me what really happend here? I'm trying to get a clue but i cant...

  • 0:14-0:15 BURRRRRGER LOL

  • what the fuck are the mechanics wearing? haha

  • grande manovra in retro marcia

  • man that steering wheel would be unrecognizable to todays drivers.

  • schumi used reverse on the grid at indy in 2002... not sure on the year, but he missed his grid slot and had to reverse

  • @kimiferrarifan @wandy29 are not same cars ;) this are more power cars, From 1982 the most Speed on a GP stup was 369km/h by Patrick Tambay Ferrari, when Senna died they sloed a bit now top speed at Monza is 330km/h

  • yes, 2007 in monaco kimi raikkönen used it after he crashed and he didn't get the next corner, so he used it!

  • I love it how that pit crew wears shorts and t-shirts. I mean.. it's really only 20 years ago and look at the star wars -themed protective gear they got on nowadays.

  • @proGoalie88

    i noticed that too lol

but then realized refueling was banned back then..... hence why no fire safety equipment.....

  • @SilEightySEK

    Refuelling is banned nowadays too..

I guess they kept the protective suits because they like them :)

  • @seban678 no duh.... but refueling was reinstated back in the early 90's up until last season when they banned it againi

  • @SilEightySEK Yes... So what's wrong with my comment? ("duh")

  • And thus, a Minardi led a lap.

  • Love how casual this is, it's like he is just cruising into a space in a supermarket car park!

  • disqualified in '89, Won it in '90, Disqualified in '91 for illegal pit stop, Won it in '92. Also won it in '86

  • Wait, I didn't know they could reverse!

  • @PippinRally Yep, they can. Although the reverse gear is incredibly small, and a driver must be careful to keep the revs low or else he'll cause some serious damage. Supposedly drivers are discouraged from using the reverse gear and you'll see most of them do a burnout to spin around as it's quicker, anyway. This year at Monaco you saw a few cars reversing out of run-off areas during the practice sessions.

  • the moron didnt let his pit crew PUSH him back like they wanted too.

he almost ran over them in reverse

  • @woodenclock2

Moron? I always thought Canada was a country I wanted to visit one day.

People like you (all over YT) saved me the trip.

    Thanks.

  • MARTINI LEAD THE RACE WITH MINARDI!!!!

  • can noone else see that he locked up the brakes as he was coming in so he steered out of the way to avoid hitting his crew???? uh duh

  • why aint they allowed to reverse?

  • @malthe122 you're only allowed to travel around the track on one direction

  • @malthe122

why aren't u allowed to reverse on the highway?

    common sense

  • @woodenclock2 but in moments like this, i think its should be allowed :S

  • typical ferrari pit stop there, such clueless donkies back in that day.

  • look how hight he is sitting in the car! if coultard would fly over him like he did with wurz in 2007, i don't wanna know what happend.

  • Shorts an t-shirt on the mechs =)

  • shorts and t shirt on pit lane.

    like doing a holiday

  • "Senna is NOT out" love Murray!!

  • I know, just like Cricket! :)

  • The only time reverse gear has ever worked on an F1 car.

  • They don't have reverse now so that might explain why it wouldn't work :D

  • Actually, they do. However it has quite a high chance of damaging the gearbox so they only use it as a last resort.

  • Actually, they have reverse now.

  • nearly.. but i remember a scene in monaco in 99 i think, were hakkinen had to use it, too, in Mirabeau Haute.

  • @ssssroryssss2 not the only time. I've seen it a few times. (I clearly remember 2 of them)

  • @ssssroryssss2 not true, ralph schumacher found it a few years back in toyota and got out of gravel trap.

  • look at the steering wheel, no buttons or dials or nothing

  • does the commentator think that mansell's in a mclaren ??

  • It's Murray Walker, so he probably does.

  • It was James Hunt not Walker who made that mistake.

  • I think he was refering to the fact that the McLaren team had blocked Mansell's view of the Ferrari pit box so he couldnt line up correctly.

  • The pit crew sure look like McDonald's employees.

  • Comment removed

  • *lol* If you compare to nowadays Pit-Crews: NO Helmet, NO Overalls :o) Just Shorts and Poloshirt... unbelievable ;-)

  • Heheheeee....

  • they look like they work at mcdonalds

  • haha yeah what about pit fires?? they would be roasted!

  • They didn't refuel at the time, so they didn't need fireproof clothing.

  • The pit crew look like they just rocked up from a BBQ !ROFL!

  • U spelt grand wrong in the description!

  • Hahaha

  • i dident saw the blag flag :S

  • My answer was not "No he crashed into Senna", I made a factual statement of "he crashed out of the race with Senna." I didnt say he wasnt DQ from the race, any Johnny come lately can see the stats, just like they will see that Felipe Massa won the Belgium Grand Prix 08 without having a clue about what happen between Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen. Everyone remembers Austria 2002, but what happen in Japan 1991? Berger won the race, but nobody remembers why? stats are part of the story

  • Yes Mansell did take out Senna. I've been watching Formula one since 1985, and I saw that race live. Review the 1989 FIA review VHS, 1989 AutoCourse, or check out why Senna retired from the 1989 race in Portugal.

  • pit crew still in t-shirts and shorts!! :D

    crazy times.

  • No re fueling then.

  • Haha.. Yeah, "in the good ol' days" - when there were no pit-lane speed limits and cars could rip down there at 200mph (if they were capable)!

..Not all rule changes are for the worse! ;o))

  • And the pit crew are wearing shorts!

  • Makes the pit crews today look like pussies!

  • To they're descharge, it is FIA's and insurance's obligation...

  • no driver could ever screw things up like the lion used to do...

  • lewis hamilton tries his best sometimes...

  • Wtf?

  • cars cannot use reverse gear in pit lane, he got the black flag because he reversed

  • Ok thanks.

  • So he got disqualified?

  • He crashed out of the race while racing Senna.

  • He was disqualified but before he came in, he crashed with Ayrton Senna

  • @brw147 its not his fault!!! people were blocking the way

  • @BlackBlueMen it doesn't matter. those are the rules.

  • @BlackBlueMen it doesn't matter. anyone who has been on track knows the rule that you follow the direction of the track. yeah it sucks people were in his way but that's racing

  • @brw147 atleast a person who understnad what i say !!!
