  • i'm not a specialist of classical music..but your playing is so cool!! Bach is not one of my favourite, but still your perform was great! You should try Vivaldi- L'estro armonico..

    Keep going this way :)

  • Looks like you are well on your way to figuring out this confounding instrument, regardless of what the Youtube pricks say about it!

  • Overall, nice sound. Your intonation is a bit off, but maybe it is the recording. Your interpretation of the peice is different, but not in a bad way. Bravo, I really enjoyed listening. (Just trying to get a feel for what it is supposed to sound like--I am playing it now. :P )

  • you have good sound and potential... you just need to follow the baroque style a little better. its more flowy, and polyphonic (which is music thats like written for many voices) So if you make ur bowing less detaching and ur vibrato more relaxed, ur good :)

  • May I tell you something? Take a look at Lucy van Dael playing this Allemande (the video is avaiable here on Youtube).

Obviously, she is a professional baroque violinist, but take a look at this interpretation. This is something that I used to say that is an interpretation with "movement". She is playing a baroque violin, a baroque bow and on the baroque tune (A = 415 Hz) ... but most of the ideas can be played on normal violins.

  • Ok, it´s a nice video! You have a beautiful and brilliant sound and you are in tune almost all the time. Just try to use all the bow (like somebody sad before)... I´ve got exactly the opposite problem: I used to play all the time on the upper half, because It´s more comfortable for me!! :D

Try to play with a little bit more of movement, ok? Don´t forget that a Partita (or Suite) is a compilation of baroque dances!!

P.S.: you hair looks a little EMO, but no problem!! :-)

  • @victorviolin Lol, much has changed since I recorded this video, including my level of playing. I'm doing Sonata no.1 right now. I'll post a video of that soon. Also, I'm playing Concerto No.4 by Mozart, No.1 by Accolay, & a Handel Sonata. Getting ready for some serious college auditions here in about a year.

  • Really pretty! Bach is not easy to play. You did a good job!

  • Wow, such talent...our world needs more like u.....keep movin forward

  • Awh you look like James McAvoy! Your so adorable :) Anyways, your a great violinist, Im playing around with my electric violin, I need a new bass though :( Great job!

  • Intonation is quite good I think, it's not an easy piece indeed. Maybe try without vibrato a few times and then you might want to add some colour with bow pressure or dynamics. Tuning to 415Hz can be a great experience as well.

  • Wee! You have the same name as me.

  • good intonation

  • Feeling any more comfortable with it?

I am working on this one right now in preparation for the Bach Double concert I am doing in June. Its deceivingly difficult. If you listen to Lara St. John's recording, you can get an idea of the counterpoint that Bach throws in even though it is a one-line melody/harmony. He was a tricky guy! It has helped me greatly. I look forward to putting my version up here shortly.

  • Wow. Good job.

I'm actually learning it, it's a very beautiful song.

    Good Luck!

  • very good.

  • Awesome job, A few things to think about: focus on your sounding point along with use of the whole bow. While you are looking at the piece see you if you can find the two part harmonies that occur and change the color for example a descending part could sound deeper and as you go up make the notes lighter. Other than that keep up the good work

  • MY LOVER! I expect you to come over and romance me with your violin.

  • you're good but you should use your entire bow,,, you tend to stay on the upper half much and careful when you change positions you tend to make a small glissando and that's in discordance with the style but again otherwise very good good luck

  • You're absolutely right. I have always had the problem with staying in the upper half. Still working on it. Unfortunately none of my teachers corrected me on it until 3 years after I started playing.

    Thank you for the advice!

  • Hey that was pretty good. I myself have yet to memorize that piece. But yeah im impressed! nice done!
