  • When you could buy Bulimba Gold Top in Brisbane but not VB, they used the same ad, but with this line substituted -

"A big big thirst needs a big big beer, and the big big beer is Gold Top - Gold Top by Bulimba".

  • @JBofBrisbane - Yes, I've posted one of those, too...

  • Groundbreaking Ad. Women enjoying a cold frosty VB.

  • I want to know who are the 2 arseholes who disliked this, I swear i come around your house and fill your fridges with VB. That will teach you a leason or two. I swear if i was primeminister id make VB free to all. Vote 1 Some drunk wanker.

  • emu export ftw!

  • Pause at 0:20 - wtf does she think shes doing?

  • Great ad. Who are these men drinking beer with? Their wives.

  • LOVE IT!

  • It used to sound like a beer commercial but now it sound like there talking about getting a BIG TALL BONER LOL

  • NOW THATS YAKKA!!!!!

  • whatch this and you know all is good in the world

  • Made in the days when ads weren't afraid to be Australian - no Americanisms, no care taken to represent "multi-culturalism" etc. I'm grateful I'm old enough to remember...

  • If Aussie beer could talk it would sound like John Meillon.

  • They don't get more Aussie than John Meillon. (aka Wally Stiller in the TV show "My Name's McGooley What's Yours?"

  • Why do VB ads use an American country tune? Isn't that un-Australian?

  • I love VB

In fact, i am about to drink a few, then go to my local pub for a few more pints of the best golden throat charmer..

VB is the best. It's the most sold beer in australia !

  • @ihaveairlockers mate you are my hero.

  • @haydenstreater

    Thanks mate !

I just had about 9 VB Gold cans...

I miss the days when VB came in a steel can and dark glass bottle...

"and the best cold beer is Vic, a long cold Vic"

  • @ihaveairlockers Mate, Ive been sinking vb tinnies all arvo.. I wouldnt know about the steel can, I was only a twinkle in me old mans eye... But i sure can appreciate it.

Any mate.. I think a cold ones callin.

  • @haydenstreater By the way... are you the bloke in the ad, cause by the sounds of it.. ur an all aussie legend mate.

  • @haydenstreater |

Thanks mate ! Cheers for the positive comments !

Hope you enjoy that VB !

I'm on VB can number 11 right now...I love it ! I'm addicted to VB.

    Cheers mate ! :o)

  • @ihaveairlockers It's the most sold beer because 3/4 of the population who are dole bludgers and alcos spend all their money on cheap arsed cigarettes and cheap beer to get them through until next pay day.

  • @Gallowell dude i drink it it is not cheap it is the same price as a box of corona or Carlsberg or similar beer, but at the pub when its iced cold it taste great, thats the only way to drink any other time, i dont really bother.

  • @Gallowell That's unfair! Only half are dole bludgers. The rest are getting disability pensions or old age pensions because they pissed up their pay against a wall, or lost it gambling and expected to be be coddled when they couldn't work. The Aussie Battlers ..... you know ...... bloodsucking parasites.

  • @ihaveairlockers its sure is when its ice cold on the tap at your local or a concert.

  • Now that's what I call a great beer commercial! Too bad here in the US that most of the beer ads shown on TV are bad to horrible and lacking imagination

  • I'd say its because advertising time on TV was cheap back then, and as there weren't as many advertisers in the 70s, slots were properly longer. They probably had 3 ads per break. Where as we have (especially bloody Ch 10) around 6 - 10 depending on the time slot.

I'm REALLY enjoying these old commercials. I was born in 1970, but remember a lot of them. Thanks for posting. I'd love to get copies of them!

  • Great VB Ad.

I just had a few VB's tonight....Even had a VB Gold. Quite nice

  • a lot of these old ads you're posting are 1 minute long... how times have changed.. you wouldn't get anyone booking a one-minute ad nowadays? These days I think 15-second ads are becoming the norm!

  • Dear Tel.,

Yes, you're right; why then, do you suppose that is so?
