@wesleychezz They have the same notes and same frets, but there are big differences. If you learn to play on a guitar, you're training your technique in the wrong way, and will have problems when you come to play a real Bass. The strings are thicker, and you'd have a problem playing them. Try and get a Bass to learn on. Doesn't matter how cheap it is at first :)
@craggonator So, you heard what I said...then paused the video....then found another video. At what point did you write your comment then? After you found the new video? So you came back here to write that? That's awesome. It's like we're starring in our very own version of back to the future!
"You're". If you're going to call someone a dumbass on the internet, it looks better if you don't type like a dumbass. Good luck in your next endeavour. x
the 2 other knobs are for the front/back humbucker output levels. Traditionally a bass has 2 single coils. 1 bridge & 1 neck, as where they would also have seperate power level controls. On guitar i use the bridge pick up(sharp leads), but on my bass i prefer the neck pick up(warm rythms).
this is the only teacher that works for me wow, everytime i watch another lessons they all go down to this "MAJOR MINOR" thing and i cant get anything
i think this lessons are gonna help me very very much, thank you! and thank you for the finger streching exercises, now i know what i can do when im bored at school :D <3

but again good idea teaching people to play bass for free because in my area there is no one to teach bass only guitar...and that sucks...kudos mate for helping people out..
good idea but bad habit being shown..i am new to bass and i know this ..you never rest your thumb on top of the pick up because it takes more distance to mute the string you sit it on the face of the pickup just above the string far enough to not mute it
@qetzatl Ah, so you saw the annotation at the beginning of the video where I say " I speak too much", then? Well done you. Well done for deciding to type what I had already typed, just so to make sure people can see it. Just out of curiosity, do you tell yourself you're on youtube when you're on youtube? "Hey! I'm on youtube!"
So D'man I came back and watched all your videos again to remember all the things I've learnt the last 6 months. But I noticed that the knuckles of my playing fingers just above my nails ''break upwards'' while I play, I know this will affect my tone so shall I fix it (like playing with my fingers straight) or leave it as it is?
@Zip2461996 I'm not sure what you mean? Can you upload a vid of you playing? I don't need to show your face, or play well in it if you're shy. Make it private as well. If you can't, try and find me an example?
I've been playing 5 years but thats jsut learning other peoples songs through tab and also attempting to write my own riffs, Think it's time I learnt more about my instrument tbh
I know they say 'you get what you buy', and I've seen some questionable reviews online, but I'm not wanting to know as a pro, or someone who knows the specifics of things.
I've never played before in my life, but I have an interest now, I'm curious. Even if this brand isnt great, my playing isnt gonna sound great either for a while- and I'm not gonna know the difference in terms of quality.
I'm just wondering- would you stick an absolute complete beginner on a Swift acoustic bass?
I've been looking around online to see whats out there in terms of youtube tutorials before I commit to buying a bass- definatly like this one, very down to earth, I think I'm gonna learn a lot from you, thanks.
But I want some advise! I'm a complete beginner, as you can tell, no experience what so ever. I've found some cheep (£49) new basses on ebay- brand is Swift (London make).
What do people think about Swift? I'm complete beginner, just figuring things out, surely they'll be okay?
i have an acoustic guitar .i think i want to play a bass or an electric ! i love both of them ! but my money is not enuff to buy both of them .. which one should i pick ?

i have a question:Is it OK to use only 1 finger to play bass cause i really have a problem using the two.and i have been playing for a year and i play good with one finger but people get upset if they see me play with only one finger.thanks anyway!
@horserider101202 I would recommend you really really try and play with two. I was the same as you when i started, and it was difficult. But trust me, in the long run, you'll be glad you did. It just makes things easier :)
@horserider101202 what hand do you use one finger on??? your fretting hand or your other?? i only use 3 fingers to play with my fretting hand and my bass teacher gets mad at me lol...but i sound good.
not to be a hater or anything but if your guitar is tuned right isn't the 5th fret also the next string wouldn't it be easy'er to just go to the next string? whatever, but it was good. dont know how 2 spell easyer.
@austinmcaustin They are exactly the same note, in the same octave. It doesn't matter :) Comes down to preference, but i'd advise beginners to hit frets rather than open strings to gain tendon strength.
Hey, i am looking forward to learn to play a bass but i am not good playing guitar, is that a problem? i want to buy a 5 string bass because i dont like 4 ones that are selling in my country.
Good lessons bro, by the way musicman stingray is my dream bass and i think it will cost me atleast 70,000 to 80,000php just to get one of those here..

ok so i'm a beginner at music and i've got two questions...how long will it take to learn to play this instrument? and do you necessarily need an amp just to start learning?
@moviebuds You can't say how long it'll take, as everyone progresses at a different speed. You don't NEED an amp, but it will help your technique in the long run...
Hey, I'm looking for a good bass that doesn't cost too much ($200 budget) and that's great for beginners. I've been using my dad's fretless bass to practice and learn a few things, but he won't let me take it outside of my room, so I need my own. Any suggestions?
@MiicMacMook It's starting to pay off! Im getting hundreds of people I have 'taught' online come back to me, and show me their bands and their music. Its great to see/hear. My work is done here! :D
@mickmars51 its never too late to learn an instrument. The guitarist herman li didn't start till he was sixteen, i didn't start drums till i was 14. Its never too late! :)
@freddyXDyeah He used to play guitar. The only reason he played bass is cause he said he could play to Anders and he played some licks he knew on guitar.
My Mrs has just bought me my first Bass so complete novice. Seen a few vids of yours and they are a great help (after 2 days). The close up of the walking has really helped too. Nice to hear an English accent too :) Cheers man
I played in drop d for the first time today, and because the top string is looser than when I play it in standard I seem to be causing the string to hit the fret board alot which makes an awful sound. Its usually when im playing fast stuff with my fingers.
Any tips to make it stop hitting the fret board as much?
I have a mystery dial too... Oh, wonderful mystery dial. It actually does make me dinner, but only once or twice a week.

ok so i'm a beginner at music and i've got two questions...how long will it take to learn to play this instrument? and do you necessarily need an amp just to start learning?
moviebuds 1 year ago
@moviebuds You can't say how long it'll take, as everyone progresses at a different speed. You don't NEED an amp, but it will help your technique in the long run...

Hey, I'm looking for a good bass that doesn't cost too much ($200 budget) and that's great for beginners. I've been using my dad's fretless bass to practice and learn a few things, but he won't let me take it outside of my room, so I need my own. Any suggestions?

May I know what pedal did you used in your bass? I like the tone.
rockerz18 1 year ago
@rockerz18 No pedal in this video. I just did the vid through a broken guitar amp, lol!

@freddyXDyeah He used to play guitar. The only reason he played bass is cause he said he could play to Anders and he played some licks he knew on guitar.

hi, i have been playing bass for about a month.
I played in drop d for the first time today, and because the top string is looser than when I play it in standard I seem to be causing the string to hit the fret board alot which makes an awful sound. Its usually when im playing fast stuff with my fingers.
Any tips to make it stop hitting the fret board as much?
Thanks, PoM.
