I want to ask, is this program affiliated to the concerned universities in some way?? Like, do Harvard responsible for holding its activities? or they simply like rent its place?? and does high school students get to earn credits? is it a good thing to put into one' s CV?

i went to western guilford high school last year. and i'm still there. and sorry. i didnt go on a p2p trip last year. i made a mistake. i just went to europe in 2007. i went on a student leader program last year. i'm now in the 10th grade at western guilford

yea. it was amazing! like we did something called the farmers olympics, and we did teambuilding activities. we did have one really boring moment. we were talking to the prime minister of london and when we asked him a question, he would go on and on into another subject. and we had to watch a boring film on world war 1. all the leaders fell asleep. haha. overall, it was really fun. did you find out where your info meeting is gonna be at?

I just came back from the Stanford one today. it was amazing. There was a lot of walking though but still it was a lot of fun cause of the different tours around the campus of Stanford and San Fran. I want to sign up for the medical one at another university though

I did the UCLA summit last month it was AMAZING! I met so many great people from everywhere and my facilitator was really nice and chill andi really learned a lot too i want to do a law one next!

There's not a lot, but there's nothing to be timid about. The people there are just like any other person so you can relax and be comfortable.

hey i have a question: i went to the people to people website and i've noticed that during the stay we have to present projects that we did. Is it individually or do we work in teams?

and you know this how? if you were involved in the program you would know that:

1. its not just high school kids

2. some people have to fundraise for it

3. you get credit for one high school social studies class so how can it be useless?

4. if it was a rip off, how would they keep the program running for 50 years?!

We aren't rich--by any means, and have worked HARD to raise the funds for my son to go this summer....it is worth it to us and a once in a lifetime experience for HIM!!!

Hey claverly im doing people to people this summer and guess what im not "rich kid" and i got in with no problem, so how can you assume that everyone in that program has rich parents.

i'm not saying it's only for rich people. I'm just saying it's way too overpriced and by far the vast majority of students are from high-income families. I mean, the cost for a one-week program is about half a month's salary for the mean income family.

I completly disagree with you "Claverly". Being a part of People to People in an honor, not a scam. Being an ambassador myself, I've gained leadership qualities and other traits that colleges look for. In fact, you can earn university credits by being a student ambassador and colleges LOVE seing that. Please do some research before bashing a great program such as People to People.

ok, I am sorry for my initial harsh comments. In HS I went on a P2P trip and I agree it was fun to meet different people and made for a great way to explore new cities. However, P2P is ridiculously overpriced, any high schooler with money can join, and honestly, if you're not rich, there are much better ways to spend thousands of dollars. It's like those Who's Who "awards" that mean very little to colleges.

not everyone with money can go.. you have to be NOMINATED to go on these trips. i have seen forms that teachers fill out to deserving students.

"nominated". They mail those forms to as many teachers/students as they can get addresses for. Go to the P2P Future Leaders Summit Website and click for yourself- all you need is a credit card, no nomination needed to join. once again, I think it is a very fun program, but not one that colleges believe is a true honor (a true honor would be like National Merit or the Siemens science competition)
