AND MAKE SURE THAT BEFORE YOU START RECORDING ANYTHING THAT YOU HAVE YOUR VIDEO CAMERA PLUGGED INTO THE WALL FOR ADDITIONAL POWER SO THAT YOU CAN INITIALISE THE DISC.. OTHERWISE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR VIDEOS ON YOUR COMPUTER (ITS CALLED FORMATTING THE DISC) IF YOU NEED MORE HELP LET ME KNOW ILL DO MY BEST TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS..
I know this is a very old review of a camera that probably nobody would buy any more, but why do you say it has 1000x digi zoom when clearly on the side of the camera it says 35x ?
I love your website, but you make way too many mistakes in these review videos.
btw, i dvd cameras are shitty =), think about this: what happens when you accidently hit ya cd player, it stops reading for a while, think about you are always moving your dvd cam, or maybe somebody is walking to fast and hits ya, an error, another movement, another error, ..oh i didn't mention the battery yet, the laser, that BURNS a dvd, that really needs battery, the quality SUCKS too, to everyone: get MiniDv cams ;)
it says in my manual it goes into mpeg file but it goes into vob. it also tells me to install the software that goes with it- i did and then the stupid software doesnt appear to install- just camera window!!! the thing i am looking for on my computer is MovieEdit Task- which doesnt even have an install option on it !!!!!! It just has a manual on how to use it!
I RECORD TO MINI DVD DISCS, but how can i save the footage to my computer?? i insert the minidvd in my computer dvd tray, and nothing happens. i cna not extract the footage in this way. is there another method, such as a special software, or cable etc. thank you. i really need to save my videos to my computer. thanks again
Make sure you finalize the disc. Plug it in and click on the menu and go to finalize. Then it'll work in your computer and you can edit it on software like Ulead
yes thanks you very much that worked... exept for one of my discs, which was recorded in VR format rather than video format.. that disk that was recorded in vr format cannot be read by my computer, even after finalization... is there a way o solve this problem?? thanks again!!.. also on my computer the files are in VOB format.. i needc to convert them to mpeg to read them.. what software can i use? thanks!
I had the same problem. i ended up torrenting Ulead Video Editing Software and learning how to use it. It's a very good software but might be a bit pricey if u want 2 buy it. ULead works with all formats. U can get some converting software but chances are you'll lose picture quality
thanks. this ulead program can convert vob to mpeg??? or can it read/play vob??
Can this ulead software read or convert discs written in VR format and video format?? thanks.. beacuase if so then i wil buy the program or download it. thnaks agin
yeh u can put the disc in and it will read/edit/play the vob/VR files then once you've finished editing make them into .mpeg, .avi or whatever you want.
I was told by a camera shop recently, that the trouble with DVD disk cameras is you have to 'finalise' the disk - which must be done using the mains adaptor - and can take up to 10 mins per disk.
DVD camcorders are now being phased out in favour of Hard Disk Camcorders, they seem to be the way forward.

Thank you. Is there a particular type/brand of mini DVD that works for this? I can't transfer my films from the DVD to the computer.
Also is there a particular type/brand of memory card that works for the DC230?
