I must have been at the wrong gig! I seem to remember it being totally mind blowing, the only thing that spoilt it was the low cloud cover which limited the lazer affects!

Compare the performance of Since I've Been Loving You on "How the West was Won" with the performance of the same song on Seattle July 17 1977 during the United States of America Tour.
Jimmy Plays different, heroine... maybe, but he did it awesome.
No matter what, Jimmy was, is and will be the best Hard Rock Guitar Player.
And Robert, Robert lose his Son Karac Pendragon on 1977 but that doesn't stop him to keep singing...
Look under related videos to the right and click on "Led Zeppelin: Whole Lotta Love", the one that's 7:08 minutes long. That version is 10 times better and Pagey doesn't fuck the solo up. I don't even know why this version is posted.
this version is actually shit tons better than the august 4 one, but since jimmy is higher on this one, he plays sloppy, but musically talking, this is better.
@Matthew9444 all im saying this is better because it included th Boogie Chilling medley, and the August 4 didnt, because thats it. otherwise i would prefer the August 4 one.
@tigerarmyrule did you really say robert plant can't sing? He is regarded as one of the best rock singers of all time. I will admit that after his vocal surgurey he couldnt hit all the notes that he used to be able to but go watch some of the videos of zeppelin back in 69
Robert plant started to have voice problems in 1972, and his voice was never the same.
But that's not secret. He told in an interview " i wish I could come back and take more care about my voice in those times... but with smoking, drinking and a wild way of singing i lost a huge part of my voice touch".
I'm not a big fan of his voice, but i must say that i think he is a very Humble guy , after hearing that, because he does not want to be a kind of "god" of rock.
People always say that Knebworth sucked because of Jimmy page's heroin use, and Plant's rusty vocals. I beg to differ. Knebworth was epic, in my opinion, because they played songs off of In Through The Out Door. It was an awesome performance.
this is such a cool time for zeppelin even though its after the bands peak. Each one of them is so good that they are basically all just jamming and chilling which is pretty cool
Why is it that Les Pauls always seem to run out of fuel when being played high up? They seem forced and underpowered... but further down, they are really powerful! Give me an ES-335 for tone any day...
I'm actually more of a guitar enthusiast, but I don't have the time or money to learn properly and buy guitars myself. It's just that pretty much every LP I've ever heard - Jimmy Page's included - seems to run out of power at the top end.
actually, a lot of the badass riffs they played were pre-rehearsed. The riff used in this version was also used on the 4th a week before, and before that at their war up gigs earlier in '79.
the best performance from this whole night IMO

Zep were Page and Bonham. Bass is ordinary enough and the singer couldn't sing for candy but Bonham and Page were superb.
