in the Falklands the argies had Mirage IIIs. the Mirage III is not the 2000, and the Mirage 2000-5 MkII is a very good plane.

Well so why are you asking me those questions, I recognise that dassault is not that great company but we used those aircrafts at the limit.

Of course the harriers were better but they couln´t get the sound speed so fast as the mirages.

Yes the Mirage in all its variants is a reasonable aircraft look at what it did over the skies of the Middle East. if you had used the Six Days War and the Yom Kippur War as evidence of Mirages fighting like lions i would have agreed....

Apparently, you confuse all the delta wings planes. Only 2 planes of Dassault were shot down during the Falklands War. One of them by the Argentina's antiaircraft defences (error). The other one by RN, a Mirage III designed in the 50s but which remained a fighter widely superior to Harrier at high height. The other aircrafts shot down by the RN were American ( A-4) and Israelis ( IAI-Dagger or "Finger"), a cheap copy (without license & avionics) of the last Dassault Mirage V.

No problem, everybody makes the same error (I made it too). Both planes have an amazing close look. The Kfir is an israelis enhanced version of Mirage III, the Dagger is just a copy of Mirage V.

I'm not a specialist of the Falklands war but this fact is true. The argentine planes had to come from the continent heavily loaded with inadequate bombs to sink British ships at all costs. The superiority of the british radar coverage, the professionalism and the high efficiency of the brand new american AIM9-L did the rest.

What is true is that the French gave Margaret Tatcher the Exocet missiles disabling codes. The Argentinians sank one Brit warship with the Exocet but soonafter, the missiles were disabled. The Argentinians had to go back to their base with their useless missiles. If the French wouldn't have done that, the Brits would have suffered heavy losses.
