Eritrea is a one-party state. The name of the party, PFDJ (Popular Front for Democracy and Justice), is, in fact, a complete misnomer.
There is neither democracy nor justice in Eritrea, nor, it might be added, is the Front popular. Indeed, the party has lost whatever popular appeal it once had and in strict political parlance it cannot even be called a “front”.
@danmenification Yes very honest, to bad they are known for abuse of human rights. I just saw on the news how they abused some pilot from USA(James Berisha, nationality Kosovo) for 5 months. He was lobbying for recognition of the Republic of Kosovo. He lobbyed with his plane all over the world without problems, until he entered Eritrea, where he got inprisoned and abused for 5months.

Statistically speaking, the Eritrea by far has demonstrated it has been the most efficient government in Sub-Sahara Africa when it comes to transforming the lives of ordinary citizens for the better. Make no mistake about it, Eritrea still has a long ways to go to becoming a developed society, but based on these superb numbers demonstrated within the last 20 years, that road is quickly becoming shorter. Since independence, Eritrea has doubled its literacy rates to 67%, slashed in half it's HIV/AIDs prevalence to one of Africa's lowest of 0.8%, nearly doubled it's life expectancy to a 66 year average, reduced it's child mortality rates under 5 by 63%, eradicated malaria by over 85%, dams, etcetc

Eritrea is one of the only countries in the world that are on the right track to accomplishing its Millennium Development Goals. Stop looking for reasons to hate the country, no Government is perfect but Eri is close. Eritrea is independently ruling itself and is slowly fixing all of its problems. Self determination!
