I dig their arrangement here, I just wish it felt fuller. Pentatonix does a great job of filling out the sound even though they've only got 5 members. The original song just felt so BIG, you know?
I like this group, but if you look at their line-up, I don't think it works too well...
three altos, and two tenors... and most of the time, either of the two tenors are beat-boxing... I really think this group would have succeeded with at least a bit of a bass section.
I have to be honest ,the one gal in the collective sounds like a lamb bleating ,irritating.the dude in the conductors hat needs to toss it,compared the the rest of sonos he looks rough, clothes not fitting right,it would draw my focus how jacked up he looked in the middle.sounded great.
this show does not do them justice. i saw them live, with their peddles, and they were increadable. This is good, but check them out with their equipment and they will blow you away.
btw, brag alert, i sang for them and ben, chris, and rachel told me i had a fabulous voice... just saying. hey, don't judge me, i'm proud of that!
1:13 she added a ton of depth and feeling to the song, like it strikes you just as heavily as the original but in a totally different way! All HER fault! 0:39 lol The crowd was silent the whole performance, it seemed, as everyone was consumed with the performance! These guys are incredible!
Is Ben one of the best beatboxers on the show? I think the best so far is Kevin of Pentatonix, but this guy does some AMAZING stuff!! LOVE this version of the song and I think they capitalized on their lack of a male bassist.
@crosscountrytc Well, when I saw them in person, they said that Paul was the bass and that's why they didn't have a strong bass, because he wasn't there.
@XemilyannelovesyouX I guess their official website is lying then. Ben and Paul have a comedy duo called Dakaboom in which Paul describes himself as "singing very VERY high." Also, in any performance I've seen of them as a six-piece group, Paul was singing tenor. Are you certain you didn't mis-hear the explanation, meaning that they said when Paul left they lost a strong bass, because they kind of need a tenor and Chris can do both?
@crosscountrytc I definitely could have, but all I know is that during the Q&A portion of their visit, someone asked why there was no strong bass, and Kathy said it was because Paul had left the group and their undertone was weaker than it had been. I might have misheard, though.
@VeloCiraid The only things that sound good in this are the lead and the vocal percussion. The fact that they have no legitimate bass makes them not a true a capella group. Great, so you use pedals to make your sound better. The rest of the groups didn't have to use the pedals to sound good.
Viva La Vida without a bass just sounds AWFUL. Glad they got sent home. Anyone that has to use "pedals" to make their sound better is not a true acapella band anyway.
@sfcougars45 Pedals only mirror the intonation of the singer singing, meaning if the singer isn't sounding good, the pedals are going to expose the crap out of it.
@sfcougars45 Now they do, yes, because Chris has a great range. But if you look on their site, the specifically mention that Paul Peglar, when Paul was in the group, was the tenor and Chris was the bass. That's all I was saying.
I like Sonos and there specific sound!!! I liked them better than The Collective!!! I thought it was ironic, their swan song was, "It's so hard to say goodbye" by Boyz II Men, lol!! I saw the look on Shawn's face. I think he was embarassed.
@TheAndrewj96 I thought I was the only one who thought they deserved to stay WAAAAY more than the Collective!! Their sound is so unique and I would love to hear these songs done with the 'pedals' they always reffer to. They have a very "new age" sound and all their renditions sound really majestic and smooth, I really like these guys...
@WyldCharger They have a ton of Youtube videos showing them using the pedals! Especially look up their official video of "Wicked Game", it's CRAZY. The things they do with those tools transform them from an incredible a cappella group into an incredible band for any genre.
@templarmoney1 I agree that this is a great version of the song, but if you think this guy's voice sounds better than Chris Martin's, you are on crack. This rendition has NOTHING on the original.
@bboydennis i like his voice, i prefer his voice so whether im on crack or not thats my opinion i dont like coldplay but i like THIS song when THIS guy sings it it just sounds more majestic and prestigious and genuinely authentic like his voice was made for this song...if it was recorded in a studio im sure THIS guys cover would kick ass
@templarmoney1 I'm sorry you haven't felt the experience of a concert. It's something that goes farther than a night. You get to go back to that moment of time, it's better than many a thing that people spend money on. I like Sonos better than Coldplay. But, to think of a concert as temporary is to not understand concerts at all.
@SamUeLFall last concert i went to i was prob six...well actually i went to a toby mac concert back when i was a christian when i was like 12 but it sucked cus our seats were behind the stage...but i mean concerts are alright i think they're over rated its hard to explain my mentality on the subject i see it as a temporary sedative it supplies enough euphoria for a limited amount of time after taking your money and your time..you spend money for a couple hours seems like a waste
Pitchy became the go to term for 'not on pitch' thanks to American Idol. it sounds 'nice'. a few of the early girl harmonies aren't SPOT on. but they aren't majorly off.
the beat boxer is good but i kind of find the female voice in the background annoying

Wait, you kidding me?
They need to "fill" their sound, it doesn't mean that their sound is horrible. Just because it's not what you expect, doesn't mean it's horrible.
