I don't think that a gay couple should be able to claim a joint filing status on income taxes. A heterosexual couple is the building block of a family and if you go there why not claim a joint filing status for three people, or for two guys one girl and a goat. If you change the definition of a marriage just to suit the lifestyle of one then you favor that group as special. Rick Santorum is supporting DOMA and I agree the basis of what a marriage is should stay the same.
