I'm a pot head, if u only think this song is about weed then u didn't actually listen to the song u just watched too much "meet the parents:o/ good for u. This song could mean anything. But if u actually listen to it, it's actually quite a sad song. Bout losing ur best friend n growing up differently. When ur little it didn't matter who ur best friends were cause children c things differently
I don't give a piss what your interpretation is....if its not tat this song is about loss of innocence ten your interpretation is wrong and to bad if you don't like it. :)
Wow -- Mary Travers is the freak'in "mom" mtRNA|DNA to Gisel Bündchen, among the recent decade's mega-top-dollar-paid fashions models ever...whereas, many contemporaneous critics et al narrow thinkers, discounted Mary's "strong looks" as, at best, a cruder version of the "Julie Christie school of peroxide-locks"; whereas, in retrospect--at least for newer generations--review of the ubber-graphical stagings, w/high-key lighting, proves my salient point. Not my type, but a lookers all the same!
My god. You people piss me off xD The references in the song are so vague that they're meant to be interpreted in many ways. It references to weed as well as losing your childhood innocence. Honestly, Why do we have to fight over who is "Right" The things of which we take away from the song are based on our own interpretation, as it was intended. So, In a sense, aren't we all "correct"?
If you want more proof, look around snopes, there's a whole page describing how the song is about the loss of childhood innocence. Now get your head out of your bong and pretend to be intelligent for a few minutes at least.
@konivict594 Another one? you cretins are everywhere. Alright then, prove it, tell me how this is so about pot, because from what I can tell you have two words and nothing else, no references, no symbolism, nothing.
@tendoking48 Actually, a lot of it can be referenced towards weed. There are metaphors, symbols, allegories, and motifs that, with a figurative imagination, could make it all sound like that.
Like I said, just words and vague ideas dreamt up by idiots who want to see pot references everywhere. It's people like that that almost killed my skeleton maple because it's leaves looked like pot leaves.
@31kona I never pretended that Puff is chinese. I took these photos in Montreal, Canada, not in China. Honah Lee is probably where the children with a dream are, i.e. all over the world! Just a guess!
I've gone back 36 years, I'm back in infant school, sitting by Miss Bennet's chair while she plays this and Yellow Bird on her guitar whilst the rest of the class are singing along.
Very nice symbolic touch switching from color to black-and-white images for the final verse to illustrate the passage from a vivid and colorful world of a child's wonder to the stark, harsh, black-and-white reality of adulthood.
Meet the parents. hahahaha

@KelseytheRadiant Yeah, and the lion king was about racism. How about an example or two if they're so prevelant?
tendoking48 4 months ago
@tendoking48 Alright. Let's start from the beginning.
1.) PUFF. Obvious.
2.) Frolicking in the Autumn mist. An allegory for getting/being high.
3.) Jackie PAPER. You roll up joints with paper. And Paper loves Puff. Not a coincidence.
4.) He brings him sealing wax to seal the joint.
5.) Billowed sail. Sails on boats are usually white. There's a term "billows of smoke."
6.) Giant rings: Rings of smoke. Duh.
7.) One day, there was no more paper, hence, no more puff.
It makes sense and you know it.
KelseytheRadiant 4 months ago
@KelseytheRadiant 1) A name
2) Because everyone knows there's no way it can be foggy in autumn
3) another name
4) Nice try, but I've never seen anyone seal a joint with wax and I've seen an unfortunate number of joints rolled.
5)Sails billow too, and smoke is pretty mucj more gray than white
6)Giant's rings, referring to jewelry.
7)The kid grew up and stopped playing with his imaginary friend, that's spelled out in the song
