  • I loooooooooooove how the doctor is used in this production! best production ever. people need to watch this! its fantastic. Can they bring it to the US please?!

  • ^^{****]]]

  • Netrebkos voice is evenly produced, effortless, sharp and clearand is matched with a technique that loves every note precisely and fully in its proper length and dynamic range. Her pianissimos are thrilling, and her rapid passage work almost flawless.

    The Washington Post Philip Kennicott

  • Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

  • did his father know that violeta was sick? because she mentions it, and he doesn't really seem to care. did he think it was metaphorical? because he seems remorseful at the end.

  • If you like music.....

.......keep your pearls of wisdom to yourself!!!

I bet, you never seen an opera live..noob!!!

  • not having seen an opera live doesn't make someone a noob, in my case it makes me poor :(

i'd love to go to an opera, then again i'd love to be able to afford textbooks for school for that matter

  • I don't think Netrebko is as bad as ppl say... But I don't think she's that good either. I prefer other Vilettas (Callas-duh, Scotto and Moffo... even Sills and Zeani and maybe Sayao, Ponselle and Freni... I'm not so sure of Cortubas, Stratas or Fleming... but i do like them).

Keep getting better, Anna. I am a MUSIC fan and not a Diva hater.

  • my favorite Violetta!!! i cry ever!!! i love this production... superb voices!!!

Bravo!

  • Das ist sehr gut! Bravo!

  • Netrebko is in a universer all by hefself

  • Netrebko is in a universe all by herselt...

  • I LOVE IT, LOVE it, LOVE it!!!

  • Omg i love Thomas Hampson! :D And Anna is my favorite Soprano ever :D

  • @classicalgal14 my only problem with him is that he often gets his facial expressions terribly wrong, however, his singing talent is awesome!

  • Agreed. Netrebko is wonderful.

The staging is awful, the clock is "supposed" to symbolize she hasn't much "time" left?

    Ridiculous.

And why is she in her underwear?

This staging is distracting and an example of the director upstaging the performer.

    The famous Salzburg Festspielhaus...hmm.

  • @emmatoth

I have had the displeasure of working with this sort of director. They think the audience is to stupid to watch an opera, so they feel they must have women half dressed or have an odd set or people won't watch it. One of the many reasons I quit theater.

  • She's wonderful. Glorious voice. But what's with the giant clock? I despise "avant garde" staging of traditional operas. It just looks silly. And it detracts from the story. I laughed all the way through the clip at the ridiculous staging. And the sets. If you can call them that. And that action with those drop cloths! Very distracting.

  • concordo

  • La più bella Traviata in assoluto.
