This is actually pretty realistic.. It even has the water receeding before the wave hits. Although I doubt a 1 mile wide comet would have that big of an explosion at impact, the rest is realistic. Only thing that is not realistic is that a megatsunami would not go that far inland.

A large enough meteor or comet certainly could hit the earth. Are you aware that there are impact craters on earth? It has happened before.

Only, I was in Williamsburg, VA and I wasn't affected for some strange reason (despite the Virginia tidewater region would be backed up do to Mega-Tsunami surge) In reality, even a meteor caused megatsunami wouldn't go that far inland, and on top of that, without breaking.

Actually the comet wouldn't move that slowly though the atmosphere, it is travelling at roughly 40km/s. Upon impact with the atmosphere, it would instantly vapourise, and incinerate everyone and everything within a large radius of many kms beneath where it hit. The amount of energy released is mind blowing..

Still, it's a fun scene because I love watching apocalyptic films
