Moral lessons of the story: Don't go to Japan alone if you're a foreign girl especially if you're a caucasian. Don't go there just because of the money. Don't go alone with strangers. Being a sexual maniac there (harrassing and raping women) is a common thing and it is like saying you're an attractive woman and you should appreciate it... Look at how they treat women in the past: especially foreign women as comfort women during World War 2. What sick people... I don't want to go there anymore...

Anyone that has ever ever had ONE text in their "holy book" (whether old testament or new testament) that say "Homosexuals shall be put to death" is NOT a moral religion.
I understand how you feel but I think you also try not to generalize the whole issue. In US or in everywhere in the world, I believe you agrees that you can also find some cases that justices are not served. I believe Ichihashi had committed the crime, but I think you should just critisize a person and that person only. I envy you that you can live in Japan, 'coz I cannot go yet. There must be something very special about Japan otherwise you would not still stay there now, right?
I am vehemently opposed to the death penalty but I'm very glad that this Ichihashi guy has been captured and I hope that justice will be served and that such a dangerous man is now safely behind bars. My heart goes out to Lindsay's father and family and hope they can eventually find some solace from their grief now that their daughters murderer has been caught.
I never said the J and E versions would be identical, And also, in Japanese plurals are rarely used, hito can be singular or plural depending on context.
I am not a news information website that printed obvious misinformation and just covered it up.
I also watched Minomonta's TV and the fat guy was saying Ichihashi was doing well like making money.... That's just a ONE of the comments from billions. I agree that Ichihashi should not be forgiven but it's not necessary that all the people have to share same feeling. That's more weird.
interesting that you should want the death penalty for this guy.would you think the same if he was a relative of yours?why do u speak with that gentle voice too, bit misleading aint it?
Maybe Ichihashi and Lindsay were in love. Some magazines said the elevator camera have caught they kissed. In fact, Lindsay went into his room. Do you think the woman go into strange man's room?
I am disturbed by the Ichihashi fan clubs on mixi. What are these people thinking??! Hmm... Death penalty is good and if it wasn't too inhumane Id like Lindseys parents to kil him the way he did her. He didnt just kill her, he beat her, threw objects at her, punched her...is he even human?
It'll be huge news over here in the UK if nothing is done. And the Japanese will be made to look really bad. Thats if they let it slip. I can't believe what that guy said on the TV, it's unbelievable.
33Sammi32 seems to be shocked to see one of Japanese TV programs. But I think to some people, it is actually a relief to see that Ichihashi is not a cold blooded and so much crazy person. It is because he may be capable of understanding the victim's family struggle. We don't need to revenge him. We do need justice. Taking his life away won't be a justice but spending whole his life doing something good for people including people in England will be the justice I believe... if he is capable.
Personally, I think in cases like this, the death penalty is too humane. He killed her and left her in a bathtub full of sand. Something tells me that if she'd been Japanese, he'd be dead as soon as the police got in the door. So what if he killed less than three people? He had someone's corpse in his bathtub. Anybody who unsubscribed to this person because you just so happen to disagree with her, honestly. Give your head a shake. The man killed someone. I'm subscribing to 33Sammi32.

I was at school, chillin' and shizzle and saw it on japanprobe/japantoday^^ JAPANTODAY SUCKS!!! They have the most stuck-up asshole moderator motherfuckers ever! I got all my comments always gets deleted. I really doubt that anything serious will happen to him. Japan is retarded like that.
I guess you need to break the issues down. 1st, like America, surrender and admitting to crime lowers the penalty. 2nd, the Japanese media, like another certain country, is biased to telling the news that wants to be heard, and not actual events. 3rd, if you feel insecure about being a woman, just don't go out at nights, drunks are abound, and crime tendencies are high (like the rest of the world). 4th, keep an open mind, generalizing and following literally what you are told is never good.
I understand your point but in this case, it seems there's very little room for a false accusation. Generalizing the tendency of false charge in Japan shouldn't be applied to save the guy unfairly.
In japan maybe more then aywhere else people have been sent to jail and or death even though there is a lack of evidence this is quite common in japan been TRIED by the MEDIA is very common here
wow u seem like a nice person and i understand your feeling but maybe you are half quarter japanese or not but have been living here in japan since you were a child ?
whether guilty or not we do not know these facts because that person hasnt been tryed by a judicial system yet that process is very important
Don't watch the Mino's show Period! That to me is almost equivalent to Bill O'Reilly show in terms of the intellectual level. And that particular commentator from Mainichi newspaper seems to be one of those 60's socialistic ideologists who grew up under the heavily US influenced but twisted anti-nationalist education, who, sadly, have lost their national identities, like bunch of guys in the Minshu-To party. Don't worry, I believe majority people in Japan are with you on the death penalty issue.
Mino Monta needs to be thrown off a tall building. In a TV culture full of self absorbed talking heads, this guy is head and shoulders above the rest.
to be honest, after the whole LH incident, everytime i was approached by a stranger.. i was always terrified. when i first got to japan, a business man grabbed my arm and tried pulling me to a hotel for a 'drink.' it wasn't until 10 minutes later when i started to cry and a whole crowd of people staring, doing NOTHING, that he just gave up and left. i know that stuff doesn't usually happen, and i know japanese people are not all bad... but it made me fear for myself being a female foreigner.
i just fixed the problem by never going out alone whenever possible, especially at night. i don't think japan is a dangerous country, but when i first got there, i didn't know japanese very well. so if something did happen to me at that time, i wouldn't even have been able to call for adequate help. ofcourse this helped push me to learn as much as i know now, so for that i am thankful. i sometimes think this is just what happens to any woman in a foreign country.
yeah they usually delete the message they dont want but it happens anywhere. for example if I support Palestinian in the US site, and list bunch of UN resolution against Israel from Wikipedia, yeah American usually delete my message.
I feel the same toward him as you do. Although for me death penalty is not a punishment. The person dies and then that's it. What kind of punishment is that? But being locked up and watch your whole life pass you by, seeing life not happening to you, that is a punishment. I gladly pay taxmoney for that.
Yup, and unknown to most people, capital punishment takes almost 10 times the money for legal and state issues, excluding the court cases. Most killers find suicide the easiest way out to doing time anyway, but the only difference is that we are paying for it.
That means we let him kill the rest of society by taking their money away, and thankfully we have government tax to thank for doing that.
Where do you get this information? Only a very small percentage of people given the death penalty have killed more than 3 people. Most of them are multiple murderers, but there are a lot of single murder cases as well.
lolanim0 is correct - I was going to point this out myself. Death penalty is almost never given out for less than 3 murders. You are thinking of Lucie Blackman but life is all Obara could have been given.
In any case, state sponsored revenge-murder, however emotionally understandable evenutally leads to mistakes. If guilty, as he seems to be, Ichihashi should get the full punishment under the law - which is a life sentence.
I agree that the death penalty is something that should be used on rare cases, but I also agree that he should get it because they know for a fact that he did it. How can people stand up for someone like him? He should be an example to all the other crazy people that they can't get away with something like this. And yes it does happen everywhere, but that doesn't make it right.
I read that he was getting the death penalty if convicted, forgot the site. I think it may be BBC?
I was shocked it was different from the previous cases I had read about, since I was expecting it to be treated similarly to past crimes. I figure it has to do with the fact that the victim this time is a female from England that it's getting treated differently.
Though I don't agree with you on the death penalty issue, reasons as per the U.S. -
1. It costs more to house prisoners on death row as opposed to any other prison population (consider appeals).
2. State sponsored murder is still murder. The coroner even lists the cause of death as murder after an execution.
3. Murders may contribute to what is known as the "Brutalization Effect," a rise murder rates that accompany executions - due to an association of murder being ok because the state murders.
But that's just my opinion and opinions are like, we you know, everybody has one.
What concerned be was the revision of the headline and the removal of your comment. This is a trend we are seeing more and more of, United States not excluded. Awesome work on calling them on it.
Peace.
P.S. I was in China when MJ died, which was crazy because they all loved MJ quite a bit, was in the same in Japan? Later.
I can see why she would want death penalty sentence. This man had no intent of being captured, nor had any remorse; because not only did he hide, he paid thousands to ALTER HIS APPEARANCE. He assumed he could live on with a completely new life. And probably would have committed other crimes afterwards. I would say differently if he had indeed turned himself in, but that is not the case.
I'm not for death penalty, but some cases are truly an exception.

michioabe1 6 months ago 2

I never said the J and E versions would be identical, And also, in Japanese plurals are rarely used, hito can be singular or plural depending on context.
I am not a news information website that printed obvious misinformation and just covered it up.

I also watched Minomonta's TV and the fat guy was saying Ichihashi was doing well like making money.... That's just a ONE of the comments from billions. I agree that Ichihashi should not be forgiven but it's not necessary that all the people have to share same feeling. That's more weird.

Why do you think death penalty is justice?
Maybe Ichihashi and Lindsay were in love. Some magazines said the elevator camera have caught they kissed. In fact, Lindsay went into his room. Do you think the woman go into strange man's room?
Besides, he is not serial killer or something.

how can you be so sure that ichihashi actually killed lindsay?
her body happened to be found in his place and he might know something about it. that's all
no evidence, no witness and he's spoken nothing about the case yet.

4th, keep an open mind, generalizing and following literally what you are told is never good.
feroz0307 2 years ago 2
I understand your point but in this case, it seems there's very little room for a false accusation. Generalizing the tendency of false charge in Japan shouldn't be applied to save the guy unfairly.

to be honest, after the whole LH incident, everytime i was approached by a stranger.. i was always terrified. when i first got to japan, a business man grabbed my arm and tried pulling me to a hotel for a 'drink.' it wasn't until 10 minutes later when i started to cry and a whole crowd of people staring, doing NOTHING, that he just gave up and left. i know that stuff doesn't usually happen, and i know japanese people are not all bad... but it made me fear for myself being a female foreigner.
shotamerican 2 years ago
i just fixed the problem by never going out alone whenever possible, especially at night. i don't think japan is a dangerous country, but when i first got there, i didn't know japanese very well. so if something did happen to me at that time, i wouldn't even have been able to call for adequate help. ofcourse this helped push me to learn as much as i know now, so for that i am thankful. i sometimes think this is just what happens to any woman in a foreign country.

jyapfakka432 2 years ago
I feel the same toward him as you do. Although for me death penalty is not a punishment. The person dies and then that's it. What kind of punishment is that? But being locked up and watch your whole life pass you by, seeing life not happening to you, that is a punishment. I gladly pay taxmoney for that.
syboz 2 years ago
Yup, and unknown to most people, capital punishment takes almost 10 times the money for legal and state issues, excluding the court cases. Most killers find suicide the easiest way out to doing time anyway, but the only difference is that we are paying for it.
That means we let him kill the rest of society by taking their money away, and thankfully we have government tax to thank for doing that.
feroz0307 2 years ago
The death penalty only give to a criminal who kills at least more than 3 people.
So, in this case, he would be sentenced to imprisonament for an indefinite period.
lolanim0 2 years ago 5
Also, Justice is not to kill people. Do not profane the Justice system by your silly knowledge.
lolanim0 2 years ago 5
Where do you get this information? Only a very small percentage of people given the death penalty have killed more than 3 people. Most of them are multiple murderers, but there are a lot of single murder cases as well.
33Sammi32 2 years ago
lolanim0 2 years ago
lolanim0 is correct - I was going to point this out myself.
Peace

I agree that the death penalty is something that should be used on rare cases, but I also agree that he should get it because they know for a fact that he did it. How can people stand up for someone like him? He should be an example to all the other crazy people that they can't get away with something like this. And yes it does happen everywhere, but that doesn't make it right.

I was shocked it was different from the previous cases I had read about, since I was expecting it to be treated similarly to past crimes. I figure it has to do with the fact that the victim this time is a female from England that it's getting treated differently.

atarcazer 2 years ago 2
atarcazer 2 years ago 2
Though I don't agree with you on the death penalty issue, reasons as per the U.S. -
1. It costs more to house prisoners on death row as opposed to any other prison population (consider appeals).
2. State sponsored murder is still murder. The coroner even lists the cause of death as murder after an execution.
3. Murders may contribute to what is known as the "Brutalization Effect," a rise murder rates that accompany executions - due to an association of murder being ok because the state murders.
KazukiSeirei 2 years ago 6
4. Murder is an easy out for a criminal.
Later.
KazukiSeirei 2 years ago 6
I can see why she would want death penalty sentence. This man had no intent of being captured, nor had any remorse; because not only did he hide, he paid thousands to ALTER HIS APPEARANCE. He assumed he could live on with a completely new life. And probably would have committed other crimes afterwards. I would say differently if he had indeed turned himself in, but that is not the case.
I'm not for death penalty, but some cases are truly an exception.
