  • just look at the cars there. That had to be one of the best fields ever in le mans. They are all fast as hell.

  • Tidbit on Mazda 787B. This car could have Revved up to 11500RPM making 900+HP. It's quite possible that this car could have revved pass 12000RPM making 1000+HP which would have made a huge difference in racing prowess. But the car was limited @9000RPM making approx. 690HP for this event because of fear for technical difficulties. Also Mazda said that after the race the 787B was good enough to run another 24hrs!!!...This car was truly a lion in the jungle.

  • @metalboy30111993 Mazda was not sure if the car would hold up in this endurance race so they limited the car @9000RPM, which puts out approx. 690HP. The car could have ran @11500RPM/900+HP, but Mazda was not sure if the engine would last at that high rev. Initially the 9000RPM/690HP limit made the car competitive but not faster than most cars. Because everyone else suffered technical difficulties, the limit to the 787B was what made this car win that race.

  • @metalboy30111993 no, it was not quicker than others. Mazda won because they were more reliable, others like Mercedes and Toyota had huge technical problems, Mazda rotary run like a swiss watch, that was the difference that day!

    If I had my way, F1 would allow a choice of three engines rotary, two stroke and turbo four stroke, then there might actually be some exciting racing.

  • The 787B started about 18th by the looks of it but by 2:13 it 'looks' like its up to third, though there may be cars ofscreen. Its not hard to spot in a crowd either.

  • I just wished all the old manufacturers would all get back into competing at Le Mans again.

    It's somehow very hard to get excited over a Pescarolo or diesel Audi!

    If Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Jaguar etc. all entered together (not with these funny, un-sexy looking open top racers either) Le Mans would be immense again!

  • I wonder what happened in the qualify for mercedes, jaguars and mazdas get behind spices/ford cars in the start

  • The rules in 1991 reserved the first 10 places on the grid for the new rules 3.5L cars, while the older regulation cars like the Merc C11 and XJR12 couldn't place higher than 11th no matter how quickly they lapped in qualifying. In fact, the fastest car that year forgetting the grid order was a C11, something like a 3:30, while the best of the 3.5L cars, the Peugeot 905, was around 5 seconds a lap slower.

  • just stupid,that's why there's C1 and C2,the french can't handle other countries winning their race,just like they changed the rules in '72 cos porsche were just too good with superior cars and engineers

  • Le Mans were totally against the 3.5 litre rules, and thats why Le Mans was not part of the World Championship in 1989 and 1990.

    Eventually they backed down and accepted the FIA's 3.5 litre formula which proved a disaster for Sportscar racing.
