  • nice transitions

  • Thank you.

  • others are right, Ecstasy of Gold should have been untouchable like John Carpenter's "the Thing."

  • If you find this video interesting you gotta check out a new website called WhoSampled (you can Google it) - it's a community site for sample spotting where each sample is displayed as two videos (sample and original) side by side and users can discuss them and vote. Very cool concept!

  • HAHAHAAAA the oliver twist at 8:38

    kinda ridin actually

  • It's cool to sample beats and then clear the copyright but I hate when some Rappers have to bite other Rapper's lines.

  • this was a good idea

most of the songs that were sampled are really good songs

  • o mon tht ecstacy of gold sample go hard

  • Yo can I get the straight audio of this?

  • what iheartsedric said is correct i just started to sample sometimes when i make beats and its pretty tricky to make it sound good

  • You should really reconsider that....

You have no idea the effort that goes into this music, sampled or not....

  • oh shut the fuck up

  • Only Jigga can put it down on some of these samples. He's in class by himself. "Everybody want to be Hove and Hov Stil Alive."

  • The Doors, that is classic!

  • man i like what you did with this series...i was aware of tha fact that he sampled and some of tha originals was obvious but it was alot of em i had never heard before...preciate it man.

  • These producers amaze me! I wouldve NEVER thought about making sum of this shit into a rap song

  • It's the same sample for both songs.

The one from da blueprint 2 is just arranged differently with more vocals included.

  • That David Ruffin sample is ill

  • good shit, Love to hear the originals

  • i need u to hook me up tha original song so i can redo tha beats myself cause i'ma producer and i barley kno any of these ol skool classics my nig!

  • homie..not to be stepin on any ones toes but u need to go out and dig. find ur own little arsenal of records, its koo to sample somthing someone else already sampled but ppl will always compare it to the other one and thats no bueno. so better off lookin for some better samples then theirs. its koo to listen to alot of funk, jazz, blue note jazz. but u just really gotta have a feel for the music. take it from me. ive been in the game for a koo minute.

  • as long as everybody knows that these are Kanye's samples ...not Jay's

  • who started these Doors-covers. I love them: Mos Def, Snoop Dogg and here Jay-Z. Are there more of them? Also ecstacy of Gold and the others are great. I love that way of responding to old classics. One of the best inventions of mankind is keeping memories alive. Keeping them as treasure.

Do you have longer versions of these mixes dealing with just a single theme? Makes me a little bit nervous, like travelling Europe in 3 days. Exhausting.

  • Wassup.

Answering your question I have all da tracks as single mixes but no reason anyones ever gonna hear those.

I only make da long ones to cut em up for these mixes.

  • i aint heard dat anything in years lol thats it

  • yo, really appreciate this man. I love hearing the original samples. I'm looking to getting into a bit of producing myself and this inspires me. Thanks for the effort

  • when ever I hear a kanye sample I loose respect for dude. this sounds like a direct rip adn he just put the drums under their music. Jesus walks was the worse though.

  • THIS SHIT IS CLASSIC

  • this is dope man..keep em coming.one love!!

  • HEY Whats the song called on 7:43 i like that beat..

  • All da info is on the moe info section on da right but that track is Blueprint 2 from da Blueprint 2 LP.

  • did you get those samples from Kanye's I'm Good?

  • Kinda, I jacked da idea and then did it again, couldn't have his voice all over my ish!

  • LOL! WTF!

  • you're the greatest

  • That last one, the Bohannon song, Musiq Soulchild also sampled that.

  • Dude, this is flat out fucking awesome. Thanks, man. Good job with all the samples. Do you have "Seven Minutes of Funk" by The Whole Darn Family (the main sample used for "Ain't No N*gga")?

  • Yep, that'll be on Part 5!!!

That one's gonna be crazy, a few of the songs have multiple samples like Ain't No Ni**a, it's a bit complicated making it sound nice. Hold tight.

  • dam tats crazy u no all of em. i new most of em but not all

  • whats that song sample. the one where hes like "H-O-V-A, i got my mojo back baby oh behave" dont know the name..but i want to know who the original sample was. I wanna get that song man.

The track list is on da video info section >>>

  • Cheers man... really nice you put this together...

  • i love this, the originally sampled songs and the songs that came from them, thanks.

  • sick

  • Comment removed

  • damn kanye sampled the hell outta five to one for the takeover beat, still nice how u put them 2gether homie

  • That would be telling but it's done on computer.

I took da idea (and da first couple of songs, sshh, don't tell no-one) off a Kanye West mixtape then I just went crazy.

I agree with that sample for takeover but the Cake one for Guns & Roses (Produced by Heavy D) is such a straight sample it's incredible, I swear dude did nothing but cut a loop and had it over to Jay.

  • Yo, I just want to say that I think this is one of the illest videos on Youtube, I just have to tell you, I'm a collector of all the classics and Some of them I just cant find, You have no idea how big my collection is, my favorite hobby is to mix the old with the new... I give a lot of respect to Jay-z he is not only creative and wise, but he never lets the classic's die... If it wasn't for artists like him I wouldn't know, and have the knowledge about classic soul,

  • Thanks dude, makes it all worthwhile knowing someone actually cares.

  • No he didnt, Jay been samplin'

    GUNIT^

  • kanye west made alot of these beats, hence the sampling.

  • figures

  • He just made four of those beats. The other producers are Ski Beats, Just Blaze, Heavy D, and I think 45 king or Clark Kent

  • I swear man, Jay-Z had really good taste in those old records

  • and the guy that made those beats

  • hey! im looken 4 a jay-z song but i dont know d name can somebody help me? d song goes something like this.... "aint no (love or man) like d one i got. noone can replace him. bugs alot but he gives me alot. (then jay-z comes in)ha ha. ha ha. tell ur friends to find a man of their own". it goes something like dat

  • Wow, you must be a young'n. It's 'Ain't No Ni**a' (Feat. Foxy Brown). Expect it on one of my next mixes.

  • cool cool. hey man sorry about all dis comments but i i thought they weren't goen thru..... THANX MAN

  • @dmtreksta: well the sample is "aint no woman like the one I've got" by the O'Jays, I dont know Jiggas Track though

  • 1996m Ain't no Nigga like the one I got, No one can fuck you better!!!! That would be on Reasonable Doubt

came out like 95-96, If you pick it up Song 8 da bomb!! But I have to say Reasonalbe doubt is one of my Favorites!

  • some of the samples, in order

jackson 5 - i want you back (izzo)

the doors - five to one (takeover)

bobby blue band - ain't no love (ain't no love)

david ruffin - common man (never change)

  • A man can you give me a list of all the samples you used in all three vids

  • get better songs from him

  • Wha do you suggest???

  • some stuff from vol 1 or 3 or maybe a verse from hey papi or is that ur chick

  • You mean da more commercial stuff, we'll see, I'm making another one or two so I'll see what I can do.

Timbaland doesn't really heavily sample though so people like him and Swizz don't have much for me to pick from.

  • where can i find the name on this songs ?

  • I'll get around and give names sooner or later

  • Later has arrived.

  • On da song info section.

  • skills great mixing....

  • Thanks, all done on computer so not much skill involved. More time and effort.
