Hey thats jkdguy1 in the front row doing his famous pumpkin clap. That guy totally sux donkey balls except when he is gaping into his usual glory hole. You can tell its him on the other side by the fast rhythmic clapping as he chugs what hobos give him.
Nobody really cares if you personally like them or not. And the fact that you've come here twice to give insult makes no sense. Just leave if you don't like it? You wont sway anybody's opinions on the band
This gig was like the Pistols in Manchester in 76, everyone who went formed a band. The energy of Radio Birdman was amazing that night. They were tough, uncompromising, talented and despite being closely linked with Detroit bands uniquely Australian and very Sydney. One of the best gigs of this mans life. Second row from front centre left = me.
No shit. Bad ass is bad ass. Just saw Deniz Tek Backing up Iggy with the Stooges. He was trading chops side by side with James Williamson. Guess who won?
Saw Radio Birdman at the Marryatville late1977 or early 78. Radio Birdman could wake the dead! I was seriously crook with bronchitis, could hardly stand up, had to crank my car to get there, and then jumped up and down till they stopped!
this footage was considered gold if you were lucky enough to see it on rage at 2 o'clock in the morning. priceless if you were happening to be taping it on your VCR. radio birdman are the buzz....do you know you can still see most of the guys still playing in sydney. i met a guy who flew from perth to see the finl hitman show. i met mark sisto and johnny kannis's mum. YEAH HUP!
I love Radio Birdman so much, but they remind me so much of the Stooges!(not bad thing at all,) guitarist looks just like Ron Asheton haha. And did you catch the Raw Power esque tiger on the back of the denim?
Have to agree - this could be the very best clip on YouTube. Deniz (looking about 15!) ripping on his Crestwood Deluxe, and extraordinary bass playing too. Their two best songs for my money as well - double bonus.
Monumental piece of history - watch and learn, to all you wannabees....
Tough question. Certainly most Wasp amps were tube amps. Never heard of a SS Wasp before. Though it's entirely possible, since their production history is a bit cloudy.
One of my absolute favourite bands. They were before my time but I saw them at the Palais in Newcastle when they reformed about 8 year ago. I was down the front moshing with Daniel Johns and the boys from Silverchair. They're huge fans and influenced by birdman.
There all standing way back, pretty sure it's the same concert the lead singer goes the stage dive and hits the floor. Why couldn't he land and captain handclap, shit that dudes probably 50 now. If your out there, register for your crimes against destroying classic aus rock flim clips
This STILL is the best damn video I've seen here so far and I can't imagine ANYTHING better. Fucking OUTSTANDING! I only wish it was a bit louder -- you can see people in the crowd, covering their ears, ha ha ! --WOW, seeing them back them must've been mind-blowing. I will always love Radio Bridman (and New Race, some New Christs {esp. Another Sin}, Denis Tek's version of RPM; the Visitors CD is okay..). This clip RULES! Yeah-HUP!!
This was the most exciting thing I've seen in ages! My mind is fucking BLOWN! I want this video! The quality is exceptional, and its fuckin' RADIO BIRDMAN IN THEIR PRIME!! Holy SHIT!!! Thank You for posting this, this RULES ALL!!!!
Radio Birdman's Debut LP was great in the original Trafalgar Records mix. Sire did a release in the USA that was remixed and added keyboards. It lost a lot of power and rawness that way.
Great as always. But I really wish they'd kicked out the National Front cretins instead of what looks like fraternizing with them. Sadly confirming old rumours.
This is rock. Pure and simple. And nothing today sounds like it. Descent...is my fave song of all time, I have no idea of how many times I've rewinded to hear the solo over.
man, i never noticed this before... listen at 6:06 on "maelstrom"- there's an edit! the abc must have shortened this song for their programming. it's one of their longest songs and live they always stretched it out. damn! hopefully one day the whole show from this will surface. the abc also have an x(aus) show in full, from 1978, that never aired.

Question for old Aussies - are WASP amps solid state or tube amps? I've heard all the early Birdman stuff was recorded on solidstate gear.

This is @ the Marryatville hotel. You can see Giles Barrow down at the front, (later to become guitarist for the Exploding White Mice).
So many people say they were there that night, you'd think it was Woodstock.
