  • Radio Birdman at the Marryatville pub, Adelaide S.A. Those were the days ...

  • On keyboards:Titson A Board

  • awesome!

  • He looks like the retard banjo kid in Deliverance

  • The singer is an ugly looking cunt.

  • @jkdguy1 u tell em mate

  • Hey thats jkdguy1 in the front row doing his famous pumpkin clap. That guy totally sux donkey balls except when he is gaping into his usual glory hole. You can tell its him on the other side by the fast rhythmic clapping as he chugs what hobos give him.

  • @jkdguy1

Nobody really cares if you personally like them or not. And the fact that you've come here twice to give insult makes no sense. Just leave if you don't like it? You wont sway anybody's opinions on the band

  • This gig was like the Pistols in Manchester in 76, everyone who went formed a band. The energy of Radio Birdman was amazing that night. They were tough, uncompromising, talented and despite being closely linked with Detroit bands uniquely Australian and very Sydney. One of the best gigs of this mans life. Second row from front centre left = me.

  • No shit. Bad ass is bad ass. Just saw Deniz Tek Backing up Iggy with the Stooges. He was trading chops side by side with James Williamson. Guess who won?

  • Rossie Tatts, Acca Dacca and The Birdmen, times really were great in the late '70s in Oz.

  • Wow, this has to be your finest post I've found yet!!! Thanks yet again, man for these wonderful gems!

  • is Masuak wearing a north bondi rats footy jumper?

  • is Warwick Gilbert wearing a north bondi rats jersy ?

  • So, no one likes clapping...

  • Saw Radio Birdman at the Marryatville late1977 or early 78. Radio Birdman could wake the dead! I was seriously crook with bronchitis, could hardly stand up, had to crank my car to get there, and then jumped up and down till they stopped!

  • @mdart68 .. I was at that gig, unreal night, I was off my head on 4 way clearlight.

still alive and kicking ( just ) :>

  • Raw and wild Rock'n'Roll...smells so aussie!

  • You can hear a surf influence in the music here.

  • this footage was considered gold if you were lucky enough to see it on rage at 2 o'clock in the morning. priceless if you were happening to be taping it on your VCR. radio birdman are the buzz....do you know you can still see most of the guys still playing in sydney. i met a guy who flew from perth to see the finl hitman show. i met mark sisto and johnny kannis's mum. YEAH HUP!

  • I had a wasp amp in the early 80s - 100 watt Marshall clone, no master volume. Running into a single quad box it was loud, Very loud

  • I love Radio Birdman so much, but they remind me so much of the Stooges!(not bad thing at all,) guitarist looks just like Ron Asheton haha. And did you catch the Raw Power esque tiger on the back of the denim?

  • if more bands would listen to deniz tek's comment after "what gives?", maybe today's music wouldn't suck so much.

  • bass player is going off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so good

  • Is that not Ron Keeley on drums?

  • haha the clapping dude is awesome

  • Have to agree - this could be the very best clip on YouTube. Deniz (looking about 15!) ripping on his Crestwood Deluxe, and extraordinary bass playing too. Their two best songs for my money as well - double bonus.

Monumental piece of history - watch and learn, to all you wannabees....

  • Aussies never fail in Rock'n'roll!

  • Saw these guys on a morning music

show when I was about 12 yrs old.I was blown away and left with a bitter taste in my mouth.Never heard anything like it

and probably my first taste of true punk,

felt like i had just been molested!!

  • high quality video!!!! Birdman are my fav band with the Mc5

  • tight ... excellent aussie band.. blown away by this set...

  • Dennis Tek is a ledgend, I used to watch these guys rehearsing on my way home from school in the old days, I miss them

  • RIPPIN TONE!

  • FRUCKING NINJA!

  • love to know how he got that guitar sound ....feeeeeeek

  • they re saving my sanity yet again...

  • I'm a 41y/o Yank that grew up on Heavy Metal-Punk and Country. I've never heard of these guys until now.

    My life is complete.

    \m/

  • Just more than GRRRREAT MUSIC

  • Grandiosi, non occorre aggiungere altro..

  • Question for old Aussies - are WASP amps solid state or tube amps? I've heard all the early Birdman stuff was recorded on solidstate gear.

  • Tough question. Certainly most Wasp amps were tube amps. Never heard of a SS Wasp before. Though it's entirely possible, since their production history is a bit cloudy.

  • Tube

  • Radio Birdman is simply one of the best bands ever.

  • this video is the SHIT

still one of the best bands ever in my eyes

  • Wow! These guys are one of the greatest bands ever.

  • This is @ the Marryatville hotel. You can see Giles Barrow down at the front, (later to become guitarist for the Exploding White Mice).

So many people say they were there that night, you'd think it was Woodstock.

Stop being so assertive Pip! You're really scary.

  • so cool!!! msg me! k

  • ugh! i hate it when vids are outta sync.

  • pip hoyle is the man!

  • I'm 53 I was at this gig at the Marryatville

I've seen this b4 but cant see me, I was probably passed out under a table shit great days.

  • Lucky man. You should be proud. These clips of RB from the late 70s are astounding.

  • anyone who like radio birdman, than also check out the hellacopters.Search The Hellacopters with dregen and check out belford8's page.

  • I'm not fond of any believes, but when it comes to RB, I kneel and Hail.

This band saved me from an ending of my life.

    Regards.

  • i'm hearing that brutha.... me and all

  • I DARE ANYONE TO POST A BETTER CLIP ON YOUTUBE THAN THIS

ONLY THE DICTATORS AT THE EMPTY BOTTLE SHOULD DARE BE MENTIONED IN THE SAME SENTENCE

    Radio Birdman fuckin' RULED!!!!!!!!!!!

    I wanna get this!!!

Radios Appear (overseas version) is a must for all fans of real rock and roll.

    The great one has spoken.

  • No other band can end a song like the birdmen. No fucking about!

  • Oh and Rob DOES look like Ed Mundell here!!!

  • One of my absolute favourite bands. They were before my time but I saw them at the Palais in Newcastle when they reformed about 8 year ago. I was down the front moshing with Daniel Johns and the boys from Silverchair. They're huge fans and influenced by birdman.

  • There all standing way back, pretty sure it's the same concert the lead singer goes the stage dive and hits the floor. Why couldn't he land and captain handclap, shit that dudes probably 50 now. If your out there, register for your crimes against destroying classic aus rock flim clips

  • Want to punch the dude front row clapping,

think the lead singer thought the same.ha

    Theses guys rock

  • Oh yeah, him! What the fuck was all that about?

  • That dude went on to be the singer in Exploding White Mice

  • really? i have an import version of their nest of vipers lp...

  • Yeah, tis clip is shot at the Marryatville hotel in Adelaide.

  • Thats so funny, at the end of the day he kept

it time, ahh captain hand clap.lol. Amazing

  • @pclarky He's still clapping away in part 2 of the video lol

  • Klondike!!!!!

  • This fucking rules.

  • This STILL is the best damn video I've seen here so far and I can't imagine ANYTHING better. Fucking OUTSTANDING! I only wish it was a bit louder -- you can see people in the crowd, covering their ears, ha ha ! --WOW, seeing them back them must've been mind-blowing. I will always love Radio Bridman (and New Race, some New Christs {esp. Another Sin}, Denis Tek's version of RPM; the Visitors CD is okay..). This clip RULES! Yeah-HUP!!

  • You are aware that there is a second part of this video titled 'Radio Birdman II'?

  • Yeah, I prefer this, part one, by far. Maybe I should give that another view, huh?

    Birdman RULES!!!!

I'd give my left nut (metaphorically speaking) to actually have this video. Thanks again!

  • Oh good. I thought you were just watching this one video, not knowing there's another part.

  • Pip- That's a pretty big glass of beer!

  • PKPurvis- this is rock, not politics.talking through your arse -arselicker

  • Radio Birdman's Debut LP was great in the original Trafalgar Records mix. Sire did a release in the USA that was remixed and added keyboards. It lost a lot of power and rawness that way.

  • lol my dad's in the crowd

  • radio birdman rock

  • Yeah!...proper music with furry nads! Nice 1

  • Still my favorite 'Australian' band.

  • Great as always. But I really wish they'd kicked out the National Front cretins instead of what looks like fraternizing with them. Sadly confirming old rumours.

  • What gives!!Great punk song.

  • !Very Powerfoul group!. RADIO BIRDMAN !!!& the SAINTS!!! THE Best Australian Punk-Rockn bands.

  • This is rock. Pure and simple. And nothing today sounds like it. Descent...is my fave song of all time, I have no idea of how many times I've rewinded to hear the solo over.

  • damn, it sounds like the record...

  • man, i never noticed this before... listen at 6:06 on "maelstrom"- there's an edit! the abc must have shortened this song for their programming. it's one of their longest songs and live they always stretched it out. damn! hopefully one day the whole show from this will surface. the abc also have an x(aus) show in full, from 1978, that never aired.

  • The ABC have an Aussie X show from 1978? I'm gonna make inquires about that!
