this song relates to me, because I'm currently in Afghanistan. I'm 22yrs old, have 2 biological brothers, and numerous brothers from other mothers. I am married, to the love of my life and I greatly miss that beautiful woman. I am in the US Air Force, I'm doing a job here I never thought I'd have to do after being told I could never have a combat job because of the damage to my left eye, but they have me bein a convoy gunner several times a week. And I miss my wife, and brothers so much.

War has affected my family multiple ways. My great unlce died serving in Vietnam in the late 60's and my aunt's brother (who I considered to be family and knew well) died serving in Iraq on July 18, 2011. It's still hard to think he isn't going to be at b-day parties and other family gatherings.

My brother is 13 years older than me, and our dad died when I was 5, making my brother 18. It was during Christmas break and he was home from college when it happened, he told my mom that he would stay home with us, quit college. He wnated to be there for me. My brother has always been there for me. Even though I may get annoying sometimes, he still loves me.That's what brothers are for. :)

Just got back from marine corps boot camp. Thought about this song alot. Now Im on my way to MCT where I wont be coming home after. I thought of this song again and here I am. I couldnt get past the first 3 lines and I broke down. I love my brother and I just pray that when its my time to be deployed, I come back safe and not crippled in any way. My brother wasn't military, but he passed away 3 years ago. Everytime I hear this song I cry, it reminds me so much of my brother and what he taught me. And for those of ya'll whose siblings or other loved one are serving in the military right now, thank you, to you and them. Ya'll as a family make a great sacrifice as well.

Im in the US Army and everytime i hear this song i cry. sometimes you dont always realise that you might not be coming home, or that the guy next to you may not be there tomorrow. even if you don't support us, or what we do, at least try to understand the things we have to go through everyday. even if the man next to you isn't in your family, he's still your brother, its a bond that can not be broken, a bond forged by the struggles you go through together. This is what keeps me going.
