  • そういうゲームじゃねえからこれ!

  • The Impossible Made Possible :)

  • hi can someone help me i am looking for a game like this but it scrolls upwards i have played it before i just cannot for the life of me remember what it was called

  • noticed that this guy is playing the japanese verson where there is only one big plant with all the little astorids.

American verson has a lot of planets.

  • TOOL ASSISTED. YOU MISSED.

  • you did miss.

  • TOUHOU!!!

  • no need tools.. with time u get to know by earth where they spawm and where they shoot its always the same thing get a slow motion controller and u got it..

  • he killed a guy!

  • wow he/she's good when he/she uses slowmotion and save states :)

  • his shoot button must be broken

  • amazing maneurs!

  • Hax to the max. Fun to watch tho

  • Definitely tool assisted. No way you could pull off moves that precise with the lag constantly changing the game speed. In fact I'll bet the creator of this video intentionally said nothing regarding cheats just so we'd be bickering about it.

  • It is fun to watch - but he must have cheated! To see at 0:54......

By the way I loved this game!

  • I like how this game slows down at all the hard parts.

  • No way that is human!

  • a peaceful party for a shoot .. great

  • touhou style xD

  • WTF?

  • This guy squeaks like an old wooden door. So many close scrapes and dodges. Very impressive.

  • Comment removed

  • 1. The hitbox isn't exactly the same as the ship, there is some slop. This guy did not get hit, he is not cheating like that.

    2. This guy is probably not using tool assist. He should have mentioned in the caption whether he was or wasn't, though, to save everyone this bickering. If you think this is impossible without tools, that is a reflection of your own limitations...people are capable of a lot, and when you play a lot of shmups, you gain a 6th sense for bullet trajectory.

  • i agree, when u play alot of shmups u do gain that 6th sense u mentioned...he must've studied the shit out of this game.

  • HAXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • you must have balls of steel

  • it's tool assisted.

  • he say no miss no not shot

  • that's what I wrote inside the parenthesis....

  • What Now?

  • shit man I got r-type final to get my r-type fix.

GOOD THING I NEED TO PLAY 40 HOURS TO UNLOCK ONE OR TWO SHIPS THAT TOTALLY ISNT RETARDED goddamn.

i just want that fucking one with the claw force but no i have to jump through a bunch of fuckin hoops to get it

  • So check out a remake of defender on our home

  • This is one-hundred percent ridiculous. There's no way this was done unassisted.

  • @gnargnargnar I think this is not tool assisted, if he's a Touhou guru this is not tool assisted.

  • TOUHOU!!!

  • wow uve got some dodging skills

  • I'd be suprised if this wasn't TAS. You'd have to have no more than a few ms reaction time to dodge all of those shots without playing frame by frame.

  • im not talking about the level 3 boss, that thing is almost designed to be able to die in one hit.

  • maybe on a rom, but not on the SNES, ive had this game when i was young and finished it at least twice every day.

  • Thanks for the info. I remember seeing that background in some early prototype screenshots in EGM but I just assumed that they changed it in the final product. Not only is that background different, the stage is much longer too because the US and European versions never played that far into the music, which was always my favorite track in the game.

  • Actually, the reason the music plays so far in is because of slowdown. The SNES's sound system allowed sound data to be loaded and stored on built in RAM and played seemlessly, due to the fact that the sound system was almost completely independent from the rest of the SNES. This means that even in games with a lot of slowdown (Super R-type involuntarily invented bullet time) the music will still play seemlessly in the background. The slowdown caused the level to play through a lot slower.

  • if that was really you playing, its got my award for being Gosu. I can believe it was human played, cos I use to play like that on Xevious, but I dont think I could last longer than 5 mins, it takes huge amounts of concentration. And the ship keeps moving, if it was AI, it would only respond when targetted.

  • Does anyone know what version of Super R-Type this is? It certainly is not the US version because the background of the first stage is different. The US version has Saturn and some purple planets in the background. In this one, it appears to be Jupiter in the background. It's quite different and I haven't been able to find out what version it is.

  • True this is done with a program 100% sure, you cannot kill bosses in 1 hit not even with a fully loaded shot. I can know cause i used to play this game every day when i was a kid.

  • Very cool, but I'm calling it tool-assisted. Still awesome to watch.

  • It all comes to understanding the math of a video game. Nowadays they're getting a little too smart to run entirely on math alone, but back in what I would call the infancy to teen years of games, if you understood the math of a game, as this player seems to(practically to a science), it wouldn't be impossible to do what was done in this video. Math == knowing where shots will go, knowing precisely where to shoot to kill, etc. By the way....great vid and this game's music is the shit. 5/5

  • No matter the complexity of the situation or system, absolutely anything can be predicted. It is impossible for you not to have said that, and so it is the same for I. Math, aside from your pre-definition, is just an understanding of reality, not reality itself, as is for Science.

It's saddening to know that much of the populous would "believe" a twisted reality. Nothing is all-encompassing at the moment, but it's better to see than believe.

    I apologize, I really, couldn't, help myself.

  • @superearthbender quantum mechanics theorizes that all possible outcomes can and will happen, and that those outcomes are completely random in nature. The human mind and the worlds fastest super computer have a long way to go b 4 they even come close to being able to react as accurately as this player is pretending to do.

  • Can, I'm not so sure as to "will". That's indicative of a system that seeks a fulfillment, and so it is, however I think it's much more simplistic. As in cause and effect relationships encompassing many pieces.

A ball flying from a bat does not seek to go in any direction but in that which it was pushed, which could then have been systematically graphed from the very beginning. It does not flow any other way because it is it's only possibility. (friend's account).

  • ...wait. Did you say "random"? As in it can not be understood as to where the action resulted from? If so, there is no point in talking to you any further.

I'm not disagreeing with you about it being computer aided, however I don't believe it to be impossible that it wasn't.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure what I was getting at with my original comment, I suppose it was something I didn't write down.

Aside from anything else, comment to the OP, this is just a result of my laziness.

  • @lordjavathe3rd

It's an emulator :) Notice how these unbelievable displays of fake skill are always full screen ;)

  • you truly have a gift

incredible ability to follow flight paths

steady accurate and delicate hand eye coordination

your intimate knowledge of the game is inspiring to say the least

if there are gamer gods you are truly of divinity

  • that was some friggin awesome sheeit.....my style was to blast everything in sight and get as many power ups as possible (only two speed ups tho, dont need any more than that)....but thats nothing in comparison....i beat this game on hard..and expert is IMPOSSIBLE to beat without powerups...

  • Gradius V was also extremely lax on hit detection.

  • You get hit a bunch of times. =/ Plus, how are you killing bosses in one shot?

  • Concentrated super shot?

  • Never worked as one hit on bosses for moi. I guess I'm not a very good aim.

  • Awesome dodging.

  • Damn. Clerks are dangerous when you aren't shooting them.

  • This would have been more entertaining if you had gotten speed upgrades (but nothing else). You could have zipped around alot more and would not have had to kill the enemies in level 5 (and some other places).

    v=VIa6PREi1IM

    ^ watch that video ^

  • This must be a different cartridge.

  • He's clearly shooting one enemy at 1:23 plus he got hit at 00:53 even though that could be some fault with the collision boxes.

  • Hmm, that's true but that stuff happens with older games. (except for the shooting the enemy. I don't think the game can do that on it's own....)

  • nah, man...i've played this game religiously...none of those hits were legit hits on the r-9....

  • amazing - and no its not a cheat scrubs

  • There is no way in hell this isn't a cheat!Even if u were that good u would have to die sometime. We r human afterall.I've been walking 4 26 yrs still i trip once in a while!

  • Gotta love that old collision detection, you were shot down just over the one minute mark in my eyes. Let it take nothing away from you. It'd be frustrating as hell to play a shooter without, you know, shooting for the most part. Plus, R-Type owns. It always did.

  • Also bullet hit at 53 and 55/56 seconds :P He could just be using a cheat.

  • probably recorded it in slow motion with an emulator. Still cool though

  • I can do that... I just don't want to; yeah, that's it.

  • I always wondered why the enemy bullets didn't destroy other enemy ships and just yours.

  • this was definately modded in some way shape or form...friggin impossible

  • i agree,or maybe i'm just jealous but i swear he got hit a few times.....by the way level 3 music is just sick

  • I don't know, looks credible

  • Only Chuck Norris can do that without Cheat!

  • I saw that one on 1:23 ;D

  • whats the difference between a regular run

    and a TAS

  • That is absolutely nuts and your insane.

  • this is sick, man xD

i guess this was played in slowmotion and then sped up for the video!? i cant believe someone played this in the original speed :D

    either way: awesome!

    what does "TAS" mean anyway?

  • tooled assisted speedrun

  • try doing it normal and not TAS

  • Damn dude... you suck.

  • this is psycho, how can anyone possibly memorize all that to never get hit.

  • haha! nice...

you have way too much free time!

i cant even get past the 3rd level of the original R type on my wii

  • you're not alone...

  • What's with all the noobs who apparently never played a shmup making false accusations. Most every shooter has a smaller hitbox than the actual ship, some as small as a single pixel.

  • Though he DID shoot a ship at 1:24.

  • haha damn, good eye

  • lol you suck at this game

  • Can't touch this

  • even if he's a cheater, thank him for posting what non of us can do

  • Do what? He isn't doing a thing when he is cheating since you can see loads of the attacks, enemies and even surface hit him.

  • No they don't. It's just poor collision detection. There's no hack for roms that makes you invincible, just slow-downs and save states. I'm sick of people suggesting this in every TAS video.

  • No, he didn't cheat...

  • horrible slowdown in this game, even worse than I remmember it.. The soundtrack's incredible though.

  • his playing on invencibility mode, though its impressive.

  • ........!!

  • BULLSHIT!! cheater

  • Teh touhou skillz paawa!

  • **speechless**

  • From my point of view there r 2 possibilities.

    1. This guy is a HUGE CHEATER!!

    Or

    2. This guy is god.

  • this game took me over as a kid. pulled me into somekinda trance. everyday after school i would just come home and play this. and supermario of course.

  • I Idolize you

  • good god.

  • no kills to add

  • slow motion and save sates are used.

  • Very likely to be use of emulation save states in this as there are questionable areas where incredible skills is needed. As for any forms of being hit is really just hit detection abuse, which is why I think it uses save states.

  • There is definitely some cheating involved. He gets hit by those orange bullets a lot of times. And there's also a lot of contact with enemies and environment. Now if that's the only cheating he did, I'd say that's still some nice dodging, but I reckon this was tool-assisted.

I don't care though it's still a nice vid, apart from the times he gets hit.

  • there's no way this could be done with one's own skill, no matter how good you are. has to be tool assisted. post exactly how you did this, clear any confusion.

  • Damn does this bring back memories, I had this on the super nintendo...I loved the second level, due to it's song xD

  • Does anyone know what happens when you beat it on pro mode?

  • lol, imagine what this guy's like when he's firing!

  • I originally looked for a video of this game to listen to the kickin' BGM score, but this video has me utterly speechless. I love side-scrolling and vertical shooters - and thought I was okay at passing most of them, but this mode of play is outta this fucking world! You are the last starfighter haha.

Hey, anyone know where I can the music for this game?

  • I got rape even on EASY MODE!

  • sweet,, mother of.. wow.. how the.. I wouldnt be able to do that without hitting the shoot button

  • omg you are THE MAN in R Type i never finished the game

  • What kind of sick lab did they grow you in.

  • you're the legend with R-TYPE

  • excellent run. i loved this game.

  • Wow to think they spent all that government funding on ammo and you went and sold it all for a stereo didn't you

  • Если это без паролей (а иногда есть впечатление что всё таки задевают его), то это Бог! Подскажите где можна скачать эту игруху?

  • I love this game!

  • watching that video broke my mind omg thats amazing

  • i also didnt notice the backround is different when playing easy or normal

  • yeah neither did I.

  • The synthesizer music of this game had to be the best of any SNES.

  • its like if your drunk and somehow good at the same time 0_o

  • Insane! I saw a video on the news about an autistic girl who performed a similar feat, apparently she had really good pattern recognition or something.

  • This I could possibly believe. An autistic savant might be able to pull it off.

  • holy crap

  • 1.23 one shot

  • Game physics. The hit box of the sprites are smaller than the actual sprite itself. I think with R-Type the cockpit is usually the hit box. You can see small hitboxes taken to an extreme in more recent bullet hells like Dodonpachi.

  • Cheat or no Cheat.

It deoesn't matter because he made this pwnage video.

  • OMG amazing

  • I swear what you're doing here is impossible!

  • Jedi-Master... You're fucking crazy :D

  • Now it may just be my poor memory, but aren't those gold ships at the beginning of the third level supposed to jettison at you at great speeds when they see you?

    They didn't do shit here.

  • that looks impossible

  • I have so much fuckin repect for you now!

  • i used to that .....

not in all levels of course....

  • Don't be so quick to dismiss what may have been real, you retard.

  • defending himself would be feeding the trolls

  • ok i have this game for super nintendo, and its hard as hell so i dont believe this.. sorry

  • u got hit multi times and i dont even know how many times u hit the walls of the levels lol

  • *rocking out to music* Oh I love that soundtrack especially level 3's music.

  • Naturally this is "computer assisted", but impressive nevertheless.

I beated this game on real SNES ~10 years ago at the hardest level of difficulty and it was similar type of insane bullet dodging.

  • "Naturally this is "computer assisted", but impressive nevertheless."

I take my words back; I bet this is legit because of the slow-downs (not present on emus?). The player must have gone crazy with all the re-takes.

  • Loved that game when I was young. :)

  • Cheat. But a cute one.

  • lol the force is strong with this one !!!!!

you must like ....play it in your sleep!!!!

  • lol..the game was rushing a some points...

  • Try galbadiahotel.

  • ummmm.......i find it hard to believe that any1 is actually that good at this game

  • I don't know that Planet in the bg either...

  • wow you my friend are one fucking good player!!! even on easy i couldn't do that shit! i tip my hat off to ya...

  • LMFAO !!!!

  • Crazy....

  • at 7:54 left, he shoots (1:25 into it)

  • He never said no shooting...

  • I saw this on another site that claimed no shooting too, and I thought he tried to sneak one in! apperntly I can't paste the url in... but if you google "Super R-TYPE - no shot, no item run (1 of 3) 9:20 " you will find it

  • I see. Maybe I should post my resident Evil run. Though I don't even have the game anymore...:P

  • I not sure, but maybe he dident upload that, and the guy who did upload it, thought it was a no shooting run.

  • at 7:54 left, he shoots

  • THATS IMPRESSIVE!

  • you should be paid for this. awesome

  • Some one seems to be taking advantage of the slow down feature of SNES games, specially shooters like this one...

  • hey i still play this. And this is a awsome Game. And uhh. What version is this? Around 1:30 I never seen that planet in the back on my SNES before. Hmm. I'll look again. Any ways. This is a impressive video sort of.
