  • what is the tuning ???????????

  • @RappehMusic It is normal tuning!

  • @Linedanger Eh, did either of you actually watch the video? He's playing in dropped D, which he says in the video, and even retunes it on camera... BAsically just drop the E string down to a D and there you go.

  • crazy good man! I love that song too. keep up the great work

  • Nice stuff Tony. Have you seen Colin Reid's take on the same tune? - search YouTube for it (it doesn't seem to let me post a link here)

  • @pauliewaulie64

its okay, I found it and like it

  • This is my favorite song and I can't wait to learn it some day. :]

  • Thanks for this video. I started figuring it out by ear from Ferris Buellers Day Off (movie), and you filled in my gaps quite nicely. Well done.

  • cool!

  • Wow! Guitar isn't my instrument, but I just had to say that this was very impressive. I LOVED your rendition. It was interesting too to see how a guitar player might handle this. Thanks for the upload!

  • You have such an Irish fireplace.

  • @rayggallagher1974 Lol

We're quite cosmopolitan in Donegal you know.

Saw it in a fireplace mag and cut it out. I'm at home with it.

  • my name is the same as yours and I too play guitar and am Irish / scotch! are you my twin?

  • @TiTANVERSE No. You are the true Tony Mc. The Tony bit on my name is just a nickname and makes no sense with my real name, which is ------- Charles.

  • @Linedanger Don't give up! You guys could still be, like, cousins or something!

  • @TiTANVERSE

    Scotch? Aye right....

  • best song ever!!!

  • Love this song and I enjoyed your version

  • vvg

  • fucking brilliant!

  • cheers man, good job

  • Hi Tony,

    Thanks for your answer.

Action on mine is about 3 mm.

The next time, i'll put 11/52 strings.

    Have a good day.

    Gerald

  • First of all, hello from France (Paris).

Thanks for your video. I do like it.

I have the same Sigma guitar and I wanted to know which strings did you put on Sigma?

    I use Martin 10/47.

    Also, what about the action?

    Thanks for you answer.

    Have a good day.

    Gerald

  • @Vargas934

    Hiya Gerald

I am using Martin 11/52 - Custom light (I think)

The action on mine is very low. But has some fret buzz, which is offputting. I need to either change the 'nut' and reset the string heights OR loosen the truss rod a little. It is a very comfortable guitar to play. I was fortunate to get it locally from an internet advert.

    Regards

    Tony

  • @Vargas934 I use the same strings! yay I feel smart!

  • @Vargas934

    Salut, Hello

I use medium strings on my Sigma guitar that i have had for about 20 years. I really love this guitar, but also enjoy it way more since i changed strings to medium and i really recommand this kind of strings.

As it is a small jumbo, the sound gets more powerful with the mediums. I also use really often a Capo on 4th, 5th or 8th fret. With Capo this guitar lets play a very metallic and crystallin sound.

  • Hi, I'm from Brasil so sorry for my bad english... Well, I'm trying to find this guitar to buy one for me, but I can't find it here... Do you know any music store where I can find one "Sigma GCS" to buy? Or do you want to sell your Sigma? Thanks.

  • Sigma guitars were made for Martin (cheap range) in the far east, until about 2002, I think. The size is Grand Concert. Any grand concert guitar will be as comfortable to play and there are some great, similar guitars made in China etc. Names like Blueridge, Cort, Crafter, Tanglewood, Vintage. I'm not selling mine yet, although I now play my Cort, wide neck Parlour guitar more. Ebay is your best chance. Good luck.

  • Written in my daughter's login by mistake

  • I'm sorry. I wish I could read what you're saying but I don't speak a word of English. I actually don't know what this even says, its just something I cut and paste that was given to me by someone who speaks my native language.

  • Haha that's what I thought, duhh, thanks :)

  • what are the chord you're playing at the end, i cant figure em out.

  • @airsoftplayer543 It's D major

  • Gud stuf!

  • excellent

  • nice

  • This is really good, did you know that this song was used in the climax of a movie about a deaf dj in ibiza?

  • @stuart5756 All gone Pete Tong :)

  • Such a fantastic movie.

  • Also in the ending of "Napoleon Dynamite" :)

  • class video.... thanks man!!

  • that was pretty great thanks... any chance for a small tab? lol

  • I've learnt it on the Mandolin!

Can't play it quite fast enough, though...

  • oh god yeah i know the feeling! just a matter of making your fingers seem as small as possible dude..

  • I really enjoyed that Linedanger. A very personal (and good) version of a lovely piece of music

  • I've always meant to learn this song-at least since the inspired use of it in "ND." Probably would've remained on my To Do list, if not for your post. Thanks for the leg up.

  • I'm Happy to see that my vid is still being used. Thanks for commenting

  • hes tuning for the video on purpose you tard

  • grow up broo.

  • no wonder he marked this as spam...

  • where do i find the tabs. i love this song. it makes me feel good

  • JCs ABC Tune Finder.

Suggest starting with Penguin version, then varying to suit your style.

  • google: type song plus images :) save on paint or word doc. and print :)

  • Really, really nice playing... and should you be considering selling your Sigma, please drop me a line. Best regards.

  • Thank you.

Sorry, not for sale. It is my most playable and played guitar, out of many. Not the best sounding, but well set up and comfortable. My brother also wants it.

  • Hey great video you should upload a high detail video ass well :D make it easier to see and learn

  • Thank you. That is my intention. I had a problem with the sound/video sync. You can't learn if the sound is out of sync.

Hopefully I've solved the problem, so I will get a few vids together soon. Tony

  • Thanks. Useful looking site. Many slightly different versions. Suggest starting with Penguin version, then varying to suit your style.

  • you can get the notes for this on: JCs ABC

    Tune Finder.

  • buen tutorial del inmortal tema de Simon Jeffes y la Penguin Cafe Orchestra¡

  • oh man if you would have just done the second part a little bit slower

i would be one happy camper

  • I put the second part on. Hope you have a go at it.

  • cheers mate, and brandy it is. I have been learning it and i am starting to get it spot on. just the backing sort off tune the low bit im struggling bit. And it would be great if you could get the tabs for it. Tom.

  • yeh mate, thumbs up for you. if i were older enough i would by you a pint :D

  • half the notes were wrong though

  • Thanks for all the comments, good and not so. I'm a brandy man these days.

Right. You have shamed me into learning the correct notes for the second half, which I have done today. Need a few days to get up to speed. As some of you have been having a go at playing it, I would hate to leave it unfinished.

Bad habit of mine, getting it "good enough" and moving on to half learn something else. Dunno if I can splice on the additional, or just do a second vid. Regards. Tony

  • 2:50 he forgot to show us how to play that part :<

  • great job bud, you are awesome at that!! keep on keepin on

  • how is he a geek? just coz hes actully done something with his life unlike u. ur a piece of shit

  • Thanks for posting this, this is great. Thanks

  • i was just itching for youn to play it faster, up to speed it was great your very good with the song, cheers for your post

    Fred

  • thanks for posting this Tony, its a big help to me. Im struggling to make sense of the second section myself.

  • Cheers Tony - always wanted to learn that tune, u played it well.

  • A really good acoustic version. Thank you, Tony, this will also help me in learning it for myself. By the way, I don't hear much wrong at all with the middle eight at all.

    Cheers, Neil

  • Thank you both for your kind comments. My first go at a video on my digicam. Next time I will get somebody to frame me better. Re the middle eight: I am reasonably happy with the rhythmic ending I have, as the single notes are a bit thin on their own, but I will still work out the notes in case I can get stage accompaniment, to leave the rhythm player some space.

  • This is really great and will be a BIG help in my quest to work towards a solo guitar version of this great song. Nice full sound that you get with the multiple strings too. Thanks for posting this. Now I have work to do to learn that C & D part. Thanks for posting this and sharing it. You've done a great job with this.
