yeah, but you don't HAVE to use it, just download the upgrade online when your on your netbook, or buy it at a store, then copy it to a USB drive. and either way you can still get it to run XP, i've seen people that have this netbook and are running Mac OS X on it

is it the same price when you get a different OS with the mini 10 because some pll have WINDOWS 7 on there dell mini 10 but if your dell mini 10 comes with xp would it be the same price as the windows 7 one? because i was thinking of getting a mini 10 but i wanted to know if it would be the same price as the other mini 10's one because i wanted windows xp mini 10 but im thinking if i get 1 its gonna come with windows 7 i like windows 7 but i dont want it i want xp but pll say they dont sell XP

@XboxIsFuture 1012 is Windows 7 STARTER and you can't change the wallpapers etc, but you could by searching in google but when I knew that,it change my mind to just buy the older one which is exactly like this.

I just bought a Mini 10v and I have Ubuntu Netbook Remix on it and love it. Plus I upgraded it to 2GB ram even though Dell said it can't be done. There are tutorials on youtube that show how.

i got a mini also, but my camera is jumpy, and the audio for the videos sucks and quits after a few seconds. Does yours do that?

Go into synaptic package manager and remove pulseaudio. ;)

Fixed my skipping mp3s and MP4 encoded dvd playback. Plays perfectly now. Then go in to System->Preferences->Sound and change all of the sound categories to alsa. You should be good to go. Maybe Ill do a Mini review and talk about that on my channel. Good luck!

HP 5101 has better camera at 2 plus MP, 7200 RPM hard drive with more choices of GBs than crappy Dell. You can upgrade the HP 5101 to a 2 GB machine with XP (unlike Dell). The HP 5101 is lighter than the Dell Mini 10 piece of plastic junk. Dell is Junk, Dell is Dumb.

I was thinking about getting the Asus Eee 1005HA but it doesn't come with an HD screen. The mini 10 does. Do you think I should get the Eee or the mini? Would the screen being HD make much of a difference and would it slow it down? Also which upgrades for the mini 10 do you think are important and which ones aren't?

Hmm, bear in mind that that extra res is pretty useless for HD video, the GMA graphics can't handle HD video... so until something like ION comes into play, that extra resolution on the 10 is only going to useful for desktop real-estate, not video playback. Hope that helps!

cons: NO 2 gig RAM upgrade. Netbook always runs sluggest without 2 gig ram from my opinion. This was the main reason why I didn't get it. I don't know how they screwed that up? other than that the built quality is there.

well, u cant really play good games... You can play basic games...starcraft, age of empires, warcraft 3, etc. but not games such as crisi, WOW, rohan blood (gay game), and feud (also gay game)

you can use it like a normal laptop, iTunes, windows media player, tunebird (the alternative to iTunes, better in my opinion for managing ipods, a helluva lot faster to transfer music.) anything you want really.
